I'm not saying Twilight is the best. But about Romeo and Juliet, Meyer intentionally did that. The first book is based on Pride and Prejudice, the second on Romeo and Juliet, the third on Wuthering Heights, the fourth on the Merchant of Venice, etc. It's called a literary catalyst. If anyone thinks they can do better than let us see it. And I tell myself the same thing.

I'm not saying Twilight is the best. But about Romeo and Juliet, Meyer intentionally did that. The first book is based on Pride and Prejudice, the second on Romeo and Juliet, the third on Wuthering Heights, the fourth on the Merchant of Venice, etc. It's called a literary catalyst. If anyone thinks they can do better than let us see it. And I tell myself the same thing.

@ammypickering But she completely butchered the books she was using as a "catalyst". I mean, okay, Pride and Prejudice - LIzzy Bennet is this strong, able-minded character who has her own life. Bella just...lolls around gazing at Edward.
And don't get me started on the whole Wuthering Heights thing. There is virtually no similarity between any of Meyers' books and WH. There are love triangle in both, but that's about it.
