What are you using as a reward for him? I'm currently working on associating a clicker with feeding on one of my tegus, which is going better than I had expected, and will be target-training once I'm *sure* that Chess knows that click-means-treat.
I use a variety of rewards i think its grapes in this session. but iv also used raisins pieces of pinkie mice meal-worms and other things. you can use anything your animal likes. Dont be afraid to move forward with the target training if he hast figured out the clicker association yet a different way of presenting it may help him better understand the association. If it doesn't work you can always take a step back and reassess your plan and your goal. good luck!
