thanks a lot bro i appreciate that edtudorpole because you help me to remember my childhood and i feel that i want to scream because i became bigger
and let us remember the entertaining shows in the past they want to amuse us and that is the main purpose but now if you want to see an entertaining show you will see that the shows producers depend on sms and doing any thing to gain a lot of money
they don't win the big prize at all anyway in the crystal dome. this is last episode of final series. the crystal maze should countied from that time. please bring it back as it is with original form and don't change it at all. we all miss the crystal maze. despite it has some swearing and some few mistakes.
i wonder how did people apply in this and end end in the show. where did people got the form from. i always wanted to be in the show either with richard or ed. they had 7 crystals but lost one crystals which gives total of 6 crystals.
@rosebegum they placed adverts appealing for contestants in the back of magazines (for example Radio Times) you then contacted them asking for an application form
I don't think it'd appeal that much to adults now. I don't think it was ever really an adults show, despite all the swearing. some of the games are too repetitive. once i've seen them now, I get bored of them very quickly. it was an awesome show though! it was perfect for capturing kids imaginations "oooo shit! this is future world!!!!" I'm happy I grew up with that than the x-factor junk of today
I also remember in the original transmittion that after Ed said, "Well sadly, that was the very last show in the series", and then it went very quiet until the closing credits.
@tracyos369 In the original transmission he said everything up and including "keep on rocking" But then yes, the music didn't start up straight away like it normally did. (I've got it on tape complete with all the 1995 adverts - wow, they've changed a bit...)
I was only 8 when it was first shown and that bit upset me...
@BadgerWhisper challenge probably doesn't have the original tape. the dedication was only shown on the original, later repeats edited it out . I don't know why they only showed it once, probably channel 4 didn't think it was necessary to keep it there. maybe because of the circumstances of the death? i believe mac's was an accident rather than illness
I wonder if the producers and Ed knew at the time that this was going to be the final ever episode? I seem to remember at the end of other series Richard or Ed said "It'll be back next year" but in this one it was they way Ed says "thats the very last" and "I don't know when I'm going to see you again"
I wonder why something so popular and so successful has never been picked up by any other station? Apparently the ratings were still very strong but it was axed because of it's huge cost. I guess that's why others are not keen on remaking it.
Also, I've only just though of this, no other country has ever produced a version of it either.
@97channel It was a travesty that they got rid of it, Channel Four needs to be bombarded with loads of emails. It needs to come back we all miss it and want it back in its original form. But in HD.
AranelEnMirkwood, I'm sure your dad had a great time filming this episode. After all, who wouldn't have jumped at the chance to enter The Crystal Maze?
@antster1983 I think you're referring to Series 2 Episode 12. Contestant Dave MacPherson died in a motorcycle accident shortly after filming. The credits are at youtube.com/watch?v=vU1naFnSIA4
@db1987db Actually you're right. Jim Alexander died after filming as well. Although i think the dedication was only made in the original Channel 4 transmission. Not sure?
I did hear that there will be a revamp but for ITV1 with a new presenter.

Hard to believe that after this was filmed, that massive set was demolished, and the hangar emptied. What a waste to an amazing programme.

i miss richard and ed as the host/hosting the crystal maze.

@MumblesCA Do you think you could upload it on here so that I (or we) can see the dedication? How come on Challenge we see Mac's but not Jim's?

How did contestant Jim Alexander, the team captain die? as the reason wasn't told in the original transmittion then only it said tragically died.
tracyos369 1 year ago
@tracyos369 he was ill. i'm sorry but i don't want to go into more detail than that.

Very optimstic ending from Ed, yet sadly misguided thanks to the powers that be at Channel 4.
Also, wasn't the original ending without music as Jim Alexander (the team captain) passed away between the recording and transmission?

@antster1983 the episode was aired with the music, it just a dedication to my father at the end of it
however the dedication was only on the original broadcast. repeats of this episode have the dedication removed
