originally found on subterranean modern, a compilation album from ralphs record showcasing bands of sfo: chrome, the residents, mx-80 sound, and tuxedo moon. this had three chrome songs: "anti-fade", "i left my heart in san francisco", and "meet you on the subway", all three are also found on the box set, just not in the original order. anti-fade is also good, san francisco is only like :30 seconds of sounds.
what is the story with this video? any one know? was it something they made for public access? i would see local bands in parma do this, but parma ain't the sfo. serious replies only or i will get yippity pippity on the fourschizzity.
(note: the video was 1984. target made a bunch of -- hey-- i will wiki my ass on over to see what they say about target video, there lies the f'n answer, maybe target made stuff for public access)
Time flys so we must capture it,recent tracks are disinergrating as we watch a saved one returning for a second chance at appreciation. So many gems our listening majority wasn't ready for in the past are now influential main stream .To little too late is better than nuthin.
@khoroshoorange no, give me some chrome songs, some weed, and send me some dessert. cake. a beautiful cake. with frosting piled high so i can lay my head in it like a pillow of love. mmmmmm. and chrome, chrome will be my muse as i eat the cake while my head is cradled in its goodness. mmmm. mmmmmmmmm.
This song was actually recorded in 1979, not 1984 as said in the video. It still sounds way ahead of its time and I can't imagine any current bands coming up with anything anywhere near as inventive as this.
@paulph12002 note: the "1984" is a marker for the video. target video made a bunch of stuff involving throbbing gristle, butthole surfers, tsol, and more in the early-mid 80's. now i need to find out why. why. why.... was it also displayed on san fran public access? i know they sold vhs videos of these things, this chrome video was on a target video compilation. all their videos had that obnoxious marker ruining the picture.
What they're riding in this video is the BART: the Bay Area Rapid Transit system in the San Francisco Area. It isn’t actually a subway, because it runs almost entirely above ground (except in down town San Francisco itself). FOOD FOR THOUGHT!
This IS from compilation album Subterranean Modern (1979) on Ralph Records, together with Residents, MX-80-Sound and Tuxedo Moon. It appeared nowhere else than on this LP, as far as i´m informed...........for other great music (not only from that time, visit the PLAYLISTS of my channel. oh yeah - the track is shortened - in fact about almost 7 minutes long ! Why so short ?
@mazokizt : I found the original version (5.17) here on youtube and it can also be found among hundreds of uploads inside Helios Creed´s channel HeliosChrome ! but i´ll sub your channel and add invite, there´s some very interesting stuff inside ! from which year is the Lamborghini-track in your favorites ?
@MrSKINFLICK I don't remember where it was first released exactly, but I know it was somewhere between 82-83, that is the date said on the LP it belongs to in the Adenoids box. It also came out on some australian post punk comp, not sure if the other bands are good, only other one I know in there is SPK.
@mazokizt:as i said below here:it was first released on"Subterreanean Modern"(Ralph Records) in the USA 1979.The compilation also included Tuxedo Moon, Residents and MX-80-Sound. It is a very classic compilation of post punk, but also pretty rare i guess(or most people don´t wanna sell it-like myself). The original sound version in full length(5.17)is on the channel HeliosChrome of band member Helios Creed here on YouTube OR inside my playlist"70s/80s electronics"-check out !
The outdoor station is Rockridge. That part, and the snippets of the drummer were filmed in 1980 in 16mm. I think the rest is video that was taped later.
Yes of course for those that want to know, yes I am a Rivethead. I prefer hanging in a wharehouse with fellow Rivetheads, than in a club watching Goths acting all stuck up and hanging with their own people. So Chrome Rocks!
For all you critics that don't know how to criticize this is Chrome bitches and Chrome rocks.
For those that are talking about clubs, I prefer being in a wherehouse listening to real Industrial bands than being in a Goth club sorrounded by homos that wear makeup and vinil, and they dance like fags.
DJ's are disgusting creatures which were born during the horrible disco age.
They later ruined electronic music by being the main core in the so called "club scene".
I really hate when people from rockers to rave dudes(even darkies who ironically make trance! and techno industrial?) say trance, house, hardcore, etc is electronic music.
Oh well, that's how the world today when labelling ebm and tanz metal as industrial music.
correction I am NOT 60.....but when I talk to folks my age with NO taste for GOOD music I wish I was 60 or at least with people like me-COOL PEOPLE not you hehehehe.
why would it be shit? why not get rid of dj's get a laptop, wack a playlist on it of cool tunes, plug it into the clubs speakers system and your away! thats all alot of dj's do, but then theres some brilliant djs like andy weatherall
enough of this, "skilled dj" stuff.. a skilled dj is someone with enough knollege to know the songs which go well with eachother, and can make people dance.
This song dates from before that actually, 1979-80. Around the time of the Red Exposure album. It says 1984 because that's the year this video was released. Great song and video too.
It's in fact from 1979, according to the Chrome website. This and I left my Heart in San Francisco were originally released on a 1979 various artists compilation called Subterranean Modern.
They have so much amazing music. Why there¨s only two song from them here? Where´s half machine lips move? March of the chrome police? Zombie warfare? They are not popular at all, but their music is absolutely from another world!! Somebody said that their music is what Dante would have figured out to Hell. And I agree... and I love that hell...
Could anyone of you give me the lyrics of this song and "Eyes on mars"? They sound really awesome for me, so I would like to appreciate words as well. :)
Is'nt word of mouth beautiful? I first heard of chrome in college 86. By then Damon and Helios were seperated and they were basically defunct. Now Helios is often regarded as one of the greats and Chrome's awesome sonic assault is being enjoyed more and more...
Unbelieveable. To think how good this clip is made on zero budget being shown to a very small audience, yet being so much more interesting than so may clips costing thousands. Chrome were awesome
Yeah, that chick has a rockin bod. All legs. I just bought the DVD on ebay. Search for "Dual Forces" or search for "Target Video" They did some Tuxedomoon also.

touch the print screen button on your keyboard when the video plays. open windows 'paint'. press ctrl+v. than select the picture, richtclick the selection. turn the picture to negative and you'll see the real colors.
