@69adrummer the jake brakes are activated when you let your foot off the throttle. in order to shift u must let off the throttle, thats why you hear the jakes inbetween each gear

@cbman96 Not really. You can shift all day with the jake on and never activate it. I always leave my foot barely on the gas pedal. Noobs are the ones you hear lift.

@69adrummer On some trucks it is neccesary to jake in between shifts. It cuts the motors revs down faster so you can shift faster. I find it useful with trucks with less gears or trucks with two transmissions. This guy seems to be barely lifting on accident probably.

no its basically the motor slowing itself down all it does is reverse the compression

@jerseymade42 ...All a Jake Brake System does is just shut off your exhaust valves...causing added compression within the cylinder X 4 6 8 10 or what ever hence 1 2 3 stage.....when the pistons go up they are compressing against air already within...and the Jake acts as a relief governor valve when the cylinder reaches max PSI....all happens within a...split second....everybody got it now..?

whats goin on is that CAT is making engines for international to put their name on, and international is making trucks for CAT to put their name on. after 2009 you can still get CAT engines, you just have to buy an entire CAT truck

jake brake is the same; it all depend on the engine. since its an International, Id take a guess at a ISX Cummins engine. I had a 06 670, jake was loud until shop found exhaust leak where it enters the muffler.
