i agree with the last statement if we're talking short term, but i believe that in the long term buildings like this would pay themselves back economically and environmentally..
@seanbrockest: the building temp was okay actually... maybe they had just been outside recently (?) as it was unbelievably hot and humid the day this was filmed!!!
It might be cool by chinese standards, but still pretty darn hot ;D
I believe we had a similar system on a school I went to. Some days the sun would just be too hot for what the natural air conditioning system could handle. Also; no wind, no air cooling - at least more limited, so even though the electric bill would be very low you didn't directly control the air conditioning.
That angled sun side is an awesome idea.
