to me this song, is about miku, a girl with low self-esteme, who thinks that everything she does is a mistake and that she will never be good enough for the boy she likes, he always says shes silly and doesn't take things seriously, so she tries to change, but gets sick of pretending to be another person, so she sets a date to meet up with him to tell him she likes him, but she is so nervous she gets there "two hours before their appointment" and starts thinking about all of it :)

as to my interpretation (and others) this song is about a girl who fell in love with a boy and she was about to confess, but found out that the boy sees her as a clown (probably he laughs at her back). but then again, miku was a desperate lover here, so she lets him be and believes he'll love her 1 day. that's why there were the lines "i'm the pierrot you believe me to be" and "manipulate my strings"

In the sense of the song though, the meaning is slightly different as in the song, Miku is sending the message to the listener that the person (boy or possibly the vocaloid master) that she is waiting for sees her as a clown and Miku herself is aware that the person is controlling her every move much like a puppet.
