  • I'm in that weird part of youtube again

  • 11 people are incorrect, but I completely understand where they're coming from.

  • stump: inventors of lol-rock

  • Mutinyyy, mutinyyy!

  • The lyrics started to make sense to me after a while. Is that normal?

  • Best band ever!

  • Mick Lynch performs in Cork under the name Don for Chickens, it's an all a capella show

  • Excellent stuff. Thanks for the memories

  • Jesus!! This band is pure nutz!! They're Oingo, Devo and Primus all rolled up in a straight jacket! I like! I like!

  • I'm really not sure what to make of this band.

  • This is like Rage Against the Machine thrown into a blender.

    Amazing :D

  • this video always makes me wish i could find me a left handed fretless bass. it sucks balls being lefty, you just cant slide pinch harmonics on a fretted bass the same. XD

  • Wait. how & why have i not seen this before ? Classic , one of the many gems on the record.

  • "We must masticate this...miscontent."

Heh, that line made me laugh a little. Crazy awesomeness! :D

  • They were just creative geniuses. I doubt they did a lot of drugs.

  • amazing bass

  • MUTINY!!! xD

  • That bassline.. just.. that bassline..

  • They sound a bit like The Pale from Dublin. In particular the lead singer.

  • @katoness I wish, but thanks for the comparison. We were always huge Stump fans anyway! ;-)

  • @Gudenfast love the pale. Heres one we made earlier was never off my turntable in the early nineties. Thanks for those good times and memories.

  • I was not aware one could slide pinch harmonics on a fretless instrument until now.

I learned something today, and realised that my increasingly weird tastes in music may cause me to be completely alienated from society.

Thanks Stump, Primus, Zappa, Beefheart etc etc...

  • Listen to The Residents dude, if you havent already

  • Oh, The Residents are their own creation...don't compare them to anyone or anyone to them! :-)

  • Yeah, listening to Primus and these guys has just made my friends fear my iPod.

  • @ShermanVanilla a squid eating dough in a polyethylane bag is fadt and bulbous. Got me?

  • God these guys did ALOT and i mean ALOT of drugs. It's funny but somewhat unique.

  • never seen this one! they were so unique. god i miss being surprised by music like this.

  • most amazing bass evarr

  • Many thanks for this upload.

It was only a few weeks/months ago I was driving through cork and happened to see Mick Lynch smoking a cigarette outside a pub - the temptation to shout out "how much is the fish" was huge, but I resisted. Rock stars don't dig that kinda thing do they?

  • wow! are you serious??? great story gudenfast! i'd have yelled it! then pulled over to say hey and ask a bunch of questions!

  • @frenchaccent You're not from around these parts, are you?

  • @Gudenfast you should of and talked to him ... haha it would of been funny

  • @Gudenfast I would've done it xD

  • crazy

  • Is that a Wal bass he is playing?? Bad ass

  • da scary thing is this is the last name of my girlfriend.....

  • Her last name is Chaos?

GET OUT NOW!! BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!!!!

  • this band is random crap but so catchy...

  • Wow. A friend sent me Buffalo and at first I found it rather annoying, but then I just kept thinking about it and it really started to grow on me. I really like this band. Are they still around? Can I buy their CD's anywhere?

  • Stump were one of the best bands ever.

    Thanks for this.

  • never noticed it before, and certainly it's the video that set it in mind, but even musically they do owe a bit to Adam and the Ants...

  • why did they randomly warp onto a pirate ship?

  • This was the 80's - they didn't have a lot of drugs back then...

  • i think you meant to say they DID have a lot of drugs

  • @R3DN3X5430 Lots and lots of drugs.

  • weird ass band

  • haha i lvoe this song

  • ALMOST as good as buffalo... ALMOST

  • if you don't dig stump - you're a moron

  • no, i'm sane.

  • Nice! I'm in 1 000 000 strong against the jonas brothers too

  • so there is music worse than the jonas brothers

  • I assume you arrived here via the 1,000,000 Strong Against the Jonas Brothers forum? HAHA!

  • I think that's the case with most people, lol.

  • Haha, suddenly the world feels like a better place.

  • :D Are you a regular on the boards?

  • Well not really but I do lurk around sometimes. =X

  • ..The hell?

  • it's really sad that people get recording deals for doing crap like this.

  • agree with wassupyall that kev hopper's bass was off the hook. speshully on this one.

  • not my cup of tea..really reminds me of the Mike Patton stuff when he's going off his cracker..I can see the appeal though..it's definitely not the "norm"

  • This is going to stick in my head and I'm only 17 xD

  • stump were off the hook. too much imagination and originality for their own good. silly boys.

kev hopper's bass alone was worth the price of admission.

    their day will come!

  • Crazy shit

  • I won't say this is the most amazing band, but

I've got to say THIS IS UNIQUE!!

  • Been a stump fan ever since hearing the Peel session in the late 80s ... still got Quirk out and a fierce Pancake on crusty old vinyl ... Good to see they havent been forgotten

  • Same here chap... same here

  • Having seen Stump on several occasions I can categorically assure you all that the band are highly skilled musicians. Mad as toast tho.

  • Its weird, but thats what makes it so goddamn awesome and addictive

  • 100/10..? thats a pretty good review for a band you hate

  • He said negative 100.

  • My initial reaction to Stump was that of horror and annoyance. Now I love them. They're so good.

  • I've recently become an ardent Stump fan thanks to u sick weirdos posting Stump vids here :-)

Hard to get into at the time - the UK music press called them beefheartian, they called themselves quirky, the video for 'buffalo' was silly and 'ice the levant' (prestigious showcase song on freeby ep with music paper 'sounds') was hmmm let's say challenging listening even for the psychedelic-crazed teenagers of the time...

    Remaining character count

Stump rule, 'Tupperware Stripper' best song ever z

  • Stump is the greatest ever!

  • YAR ! Thanks fer thee upload !

  • Stump is the greatest ever Bro! Thanks for this!

  • this is mild compared with the Cardiacs!!

I must confess i did buy this album

  • eradicate the rubber duck squeeze the life out of something soft : )

    I MISS SURREAL MUSIC : )

  • I've never seen such a crappy band in my life.

  • then you haven't seen my band, I dress up like willy wonka and my drummer is an oompa loompa

  • That actually sounds kind of epic.

  • everything with oompa loompas in it is good.

  • Ain't never not seen this one afore.

    Ardent Stumpist.

  • so random.

  • Years ago, I would go around shout the lyrics. I get some very interesting reactions. Damn but I love this song.

  • i gotta have my stump

  • What magnificent, silly bastards.

  • What a bass player!!!!

  • yeah not bad really!

  • And, judging by this video, a great actor ;)

  • shiver me timbers!

  • If you say so ;)

  • @spoombung - Yeah, I think I need to add him to Colin Moulding, Mick Karn, Geddy Lee and a few others as my favorite bassists.

  • @xnonsuchx alright...I'll do it....

Spoombung IS the Bassist of Stump...

  • @spoombung oh aye. not bad at the saw too.
