Yeah that was pretty tight, I like the song. But you really do need to learn to tongue. It sounds really funny hearing you start your notes with just air and not tongueing, it just sounds silly. But yeah awesome song, just tongue.
it takes some practice, start by sort of moving your jaw (just a little bit) to make a noise that sounds like "waah-waah" One exercise I did before was to do this as quarter notes, then eighth notes, then sixteenth notes (with a metronome). It sounds a little unnatural at first, but will help give you control you need to make it sound better.
@nealien I vibrato by doing the same thing that you would if you were singing. I use that biting thing when I'm bending into a note or bending off the note. I guess there are alot of different ways for a sax player to do a vibrato, just like on any other instrument. I play an alto tho, but I doubt there is much different.
WOW, nothing against your technique, but it sounds like you're huffing and puffing to blow down the little piggys' houses. Good tone and note choice, tonguing...not so much. Decent job overall
Actually they're a LOT better. I actually was using V16's and then i tried out the ZZ's which where horrible. The Alexander Superials are awesome. You should get the D.C. and Regular Superials. Its good to try them both at the same time. I think you'd like the D.C. better but you never know, try getting both. Also, no problem about the Cannonball thing. :P
yes, it feels better when I play for longer periods of time so I use it when I practice. I've heard stories from older sax players about neck problems they've developed
You should try Alexander Superials. They are really good reeds and were inspired to made by the sound of John Coltrane and like Wayne Shorter so you might want to check them out. Also, you spelled Cannonball Adderley wrong on your site, but thats okay. Well i seriously think that you'd love those Alexander reeds, try them out. Many professionals use them, as well as the great Bob Berg...he passed away but you can still hear him play via cds. Practice hard!
Maybe I'll get some Alexander reeds on my next order. The V16's have been working pretty well for me though and I got a box of ZZ's to try out. Do you think the Alexander reeds are a lot better than Vandorens? Thanks for pointing that out about Cannonball Adderley.
vandoren v16, size 3 with a metal Selmer American 7* mouthpiece. The mouthpiece is already pretty open, so I don't know if I really need a different size reed. It might have been a bit worn down. I'm 21 and a student studying physics
oh man you have a very beautiful sound! i really liked it

I think so, but depends on what horns you like. Some people like Selmers much more.

How do you properly do vibrato on the saxophone? I mean, I sorta just shake it, but I know that's not right... Any tips?

I definetly agree with TOmli87 but it kinda worked with the piece for the most part. Definetly a huffer and puffer, easily to fix though, good show.
