ok firts of all, the character che did not like evita, just to clear that, and second of all, it doesnt matter if he was important or not during peronism, he was a good asset the the story tellling.
Wow, US people must really take some history lessons, it´s so ridiculus they put Che Guevara to sing about Eva Peron. It´s like having Martin Luther King singing about Jackeline Onasis. They should investigate better before doing things like this. The Che character it´s supposed to bethe voice of the average citizen of Argentina
First of Evita Originated in BRITIAN not the US. Secondly Che Guevara was Argentine born and there during a large portion of the Peron years. Though there is no evidence Eva and he met, it is still likely that many of his views came from what he saw growing up there. So in the musical he is a useful tool to provide Eva with conflict. So before you make statements perhaps you should investigate as well
Well of course Ernesto Guevara was argentinean, but that doesn´t mean he was an important character during the peronism. In fact, when Peron became president, Guevara was in highschool, and his family admitted that he was a fan of peronist ideology. So I don´t think he is a good match to Eva character, it´s a huge mistake to put him with his guerrilla outfit when he didn´t even think of criticize Eva
It´s an ignorance to put them toghether in this play just because they are important characters in argentinean history. They stand almost for the same ideology. The people behind this play should investigate about Che´s Revolution, his life and ideology and Eva´s as well. So how can he provide Eva with the conflict when he wasn´t even a problem or an oponent to peronist ideas????
the character of "che guevera" is not meant to actually be the historical "che guevera". you should read more about the backgound of the show. andrew lloyd webber chose "che" because of it's meaning in spanish as a kind of attention getting call. translated roughly as "hey you!" when in context. so he got "che" then just put guevera with it because it kind of fit. besides, rarely do you see the character of che costumed in a likeness of the historical che guevera....
K so maybe I'm dumb bc I never saw the actual production on stage. But last time I checked the character of "Che" isn't supposed to actually be Che Gueavara, but just representative of every man, the voice more or leass of all the Argentinians?
Search tip: You might add a SPACE after the word "Evita" in the title. It doesn't come up in a search since you have the dash "-" after the word Evita. I know because I searched though nearly 4000 YouTube Videos entitled "Evita" looking for this video of Kristyn Colonna! The word "Murrow" might be helpful also. As a Murrow graduate I can say that, hehehe. ;) I only got to see the video from a link someone sent me. Very nice by the way, and thank you so much for uploading it! :D
Gotta say, if you can't do an Argentinian accent, concentrate on the singing rather than the accent... Meaning the guy who plays Che.

It's general knowledge that the play, based on a novel nonetheless, is fictionalized and exaggerated.
