  • Excellent footage! As someone else commented that is a Minke Whale. You are very lucky as they are not known to be so friendly... at least not in these waters. You usually catch a glimpse or two than lose them.

  • Great video, great encounter. That's not a Humpback. That is a Minke Whale. You're right, a baleen whale in the "rorqual" family which includes Blue, Brydes, Fin, Sei, Humpback and Minke. Pectoral fins too short for Humpback, head doesn't have the irregular bumps.  Dorsal fin too high/sharp. That size is typical for Minke and Minke in north hemisphere commonly have large white streaks on pectoral fins. Minke occurs in our area. Humpback occurs less.
