I've always maintained that MIU, is --far from what critics say--was very good, indeed, a thousand times better than " love you" or " big ones".--both of which are with the exception of a couple offerings, unlistenable. Despite the critics, this album had good music on it, & this is one! so much for " CRITICS" !!! Wolfsky9
Not over or under produced, and Brian is clearly present both in arrangement (interlocking harmonies & sleigh bells) and voices, with his falsetto sort of restored for a brief time. Could have been on Sunflower, in a good way!
I like this little diddy, but the MIU LP certainly wasn't going to fly commercially with all of the old sounding voices. Even Johnston said they sounded like a bunch old men. Don't get me wrong, I'll sing along with ANY BB song and there is always some gold nugget in there somewhere. This was 1978, if I remember correclty ? Was this going to get them back on the airwaves ??
This is one of the best from MIU, one of the leastappreciated of the BB's works; I love the album & always did. Critics werereally hard on it, but what do they know? Let them try --just once. Great harmonies, & counter voices as only the BB's could do . Wolfsky9
I think its a picture of the then touring band. Brian didnt always tour of course and I read a recent interview with Al saying that despite many people believing he was davids replacment they were actually in the band at the same time at one point, Dont know dates though.
@ThePeacepoet What you have said is true but something needs to be added. David Marks was Al Jardine's replacement while Al was in college to get his D.D.S.
A fine song by the group. VERY listenable + enjoyable. Great beat, good production, quality harmonies + 'acceptable' lyrics. Brian's influence is clearly there - albeit not necessarily 100% by his free choice, so the story goes. Brian was somewhat dragged, kicking & screaming, it is told, into participating in this album. But you can hear Brian's unique talent all thru the album's production. This particular song is one of the best picks off the MIU Album. So is Hey Little Tomboy + Kona Coast.
I always thought that the MIU album was quite a fun listen. It gets trashed by critics and fans alot, but even though the lyrics might be trite, that's ok with me because it is now a part of the great history of the Boys. Top songs: My Dianne, Kona Coast & Hey Little Tomboy.
What a pleasant tune! I was a young California girl, lived in a suberb of LA when 'The Beach Boys' "fun in the sun" hits were popular...thanks for the memory!
MIU really isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be

I like the song, but not the title. I think a better title would be... "Listen to the rain".

That picture at 2:47 is wierd in that it is David Marks with what looks like Al Jardine? No Brian?

Gosh I've missed this -- thanks. One of the best off MIU. Love Dennis's backbeat on snare and floor tom. Good melodic work.

With a more "full" sounding production and perhaps a slight bit of touch up on the lyrics, this song would be excellent.

In 1966, Dean (of Jan & Dean) did some rain-themed stuff after Jan's accident.
