What I don't understand is how could 67 be the year of peace and love there was the Nigerian civil war the 6 day Arab Israeli war Turkey and Greece (with Cyprus) The Chola incident and loads of other crap going on in India and Africa, to say nothing of the race hatred in the US so all this peace and love never really existed except in the minds of stoned white rich middle class kids who ran back to Mummy and Daddy once they had had their fun or things got too rough for them. poor little dears
@OrpheusIsThe1 You are correct that 1967, if you look at the world in total, fell far from total peace and love. Also, especially towards the latter part of the Summer of Love in SF's Haight-Ashbury district, there were many newcomers who were not exactly there to find peace and love or a spiritual awakening. Yet, despite all that, the Summer of Love represents an ideal of a grasp for peace and beauty; these effects, though muted, still cast a shadow today, such as via this enduring footage.
what is the name of the song and the group is at the beginning of the video, the second song is called white bird, but do not want that song. greetings and thanks.
@WolfEchoes hello it is a beautiful song and video is great thanks for your time and hope to find the song, is very kind of you and thank you. I'm sending you a hug. and top 60s. peace and love.
@lanchon351 Hi. The whole piece is the same track "White Bird" from the album "Changing Horses" by The Incredible String Band. For the Incredible String Band at their best, try listening to The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter or maybe Wee Tam and the Big Huge.
Great footage ,Thanks. It seems that the B/W footage looks a bit like BEATNIK era .I believe its the same footage as the Seattle Be-in clip. The color footage is from Monterrey POP movie.
My parents are hippies, and they lived in San Francisco during the summer of love. A lot of people, it seems to me, don't like hippies nowadays. I am a young hippie girl, and I don't let that hate get to me. I am hippie forever!!!!
I agree with other posters...people who weren't there think the '60's was all just love and flowers and magic and mushrooms, but in fact it was also an extremely violent and scary time. The last portion of this nicely done retrospective touches on some of that.
i've worked with Hippies...their path to power is heavy cannabis....light drinking...high manipulation...they are lazy by nature....they are smart by union law....
@djc2012587 YOU JUST THREATENED ME YOU MOTHER FUCKER!! WHATS YOUR TRIP MAN? The vast majority of the committed hippies, became social workers, educators, environmentalists, etc., for their whole careers. I lived through the era, and visited SF many times in the mid 60s to early 70s, although I was a little young. I since, have done vast research on all of it, and conducted many interviews. I met the Doctor, 1981. (Timothy Leary)
@AcePilot2009 That's why they were right about civil rights, the environment, the arts, the war, and will continue to be right as human evolves. Hippies care about what CAN be rather than what is stopping what CAN be. Keep your status quo "reality"
look at these kids having fun..jeez they should get jobs and haircuts and only take government issued drugs for their depression cos of there stupid cubical job, sittin on the sofa drinking beer watching re-runs and watching thier ass get fat..america the beautiful

psh the hippy movment. not trying to be like rude or anything but that wasn't very morally good. like in woodstock, so many women were raped and drugs were used.
J'ai 53 et j'aimerais que les jeunes actuels cessent d'écouter la daube formatée et créent leur univers plutôt que de consommer celui qu'on leur propose !
A silly word the press created. We always laught at it. As if thousands sorts of people.. could be called one name.. and accused of so much.. But it was a GOOD time to be young. and be forever young, as a result!
LSD, new ideas, freedom, equality, meeting others like yourself, questioning conformity, and feeling that you were part of something important and you could choose your own life
Worst Part:
Paranoia, speed, heroin, harassment, bad family relations, and a polarized society
Conclusion:
The sincerity, openness and questioning by so many young people in the 60's continues today.
Uh i wish i was a teenager around this time to experience being a hippie, colourful clothes, drugs, painted cars, meaningful music, EVERYTHING

Hi
I am not sure at the moment... trying to find it.
There are many older tunes that will never make CD or DVD, and are lost now...
I am sure that was a San Fransisco band of the era.
I never had it written down, was lucky to have it on an old VCR tape in a box stored for years.
I am sure there is a program you can put a song into and it will find you the title - if not, make an app and get it out there!! What a great idea.
If I figure it out, I will get it up here for you.
