It was very sad to watch John or any human being have to go through something like that. The danger is laziness and eating. Wine is troubling. I believe alcohol IS a very powerful drug. Really hope John is okay, he doesn't look healthy now

Ever since they passed the law for medicinal marijuana there are "doctors" who place adds in magazines that will give you a marijuana card if you see them. People just tell them that they have back pains, or constant headaches. "Doctors" only charge $40-$60 for a one time visit. I have been clean and sober since 2003, but I have seen many addicts relapse that way.

@Christophanus ~ Smoking affect each person differently, and in a bad way. I used 2 smoke and after 1 year I got extremely bad asthma, and I smoked for 6 years before I was able to quit. Smoking affected my voice, sense of taste, and smell. I got better after I quit, but it took me 3years to fully recover. My Aunt has smoked over 40years, got cancer, 2years ago. She still smokes out of the hole in her throat. My neighbor smoked only a small amount for 5years, then she got throat cancer and died.
A Distinction like "greatest" is not that meaningful outside gross sales. John Frusciante is, nonetheless, one of only a few musicians on the short list of individuals who deserve the distinction of great students and contributors to contemporary music, musicianship and media. He's a student os music and a scholar. But It is only fair to realize he is probably not the most easy going guy during studio and tour time. I doubt he"ll spend much time in long collaborations ever again.

My hopeful theory is that Josh is keeping John's seat warm in the band, because they're best friends, while John does his solo thing, and then John will come back and RHCP will have two guitarists (or Josh will leave to form another band, but will still play with RHCP from time to time). Then again, everything might fall apart and this new album might be the RCHP's last album. I have other theories but they're too dark and negative to be spoken in public.
i love the fact that he broadens his music choices, he doesn't just get inspiration from rock music but from blues, hip hop etc. I respect him for that:)

Amazing. This band has been recording for over 20 years and John has been with them for the most part of it. He is rich, famous, accomplished, a recognized talent, but he is as simple and real as he really was. Of course he has grown up and matured but his enthusiasm is the same as when he talked about Hendrix in his early 20s. Everything John says in this interview, he means it. What else can can you ask an artist? he is the antethesis of the typical rockstar. He is no rockstar, he is an artist
Some of my favorite RHCP songs are on By The Way. Though with a band with as many songs as the peppers have it's hard to say which album is their best. I think they're all amazing.
i seriously think btw is really underrated, like, sure, its different, but its showing their artistic diversity. People maybe didn't take by the way so seriously because they expected rhcp to be some sort of 1 dimensional band. but thats just what i think.

@robin14669 ~ Well John Frusciante lives in Santa Monica, and if you are from the area you can smoke marijuana legally very easily. Ever since they passed the law for medicinal marijuana there are "doctors" who place adds in magazines that will give you a marijuana card if you see them. People just tell them that they have back pains, or constant headaches. "Doctors" only charge $40-$60 for a one time visit. I have been clean and sober since 2003, but I have seen many addicts relapse that way.

@robin14669 ~ I thought that it was interesting that John Frusciante decided to be celibate for as long as he was. I agree John is very attractive, he is 41 years old but I don't consider John young, because he is older than me. I am one year younger than his new replacement in the RHCP Josh Klinghoffer. Personally I think that Anthony Kiedis is much HOTTER than John. I hope John stays focused on his music, and doesn't completely relapse.

And I'm also a guy, though I guess I gave you the impression that I was a woman (Robin) because I said that John was atrractive (I'm a straight guy, by the way). I hope that Josh is a good replacement for the RHCP and that John comes up with new solomaterial. If you see him, please tell him that he's always welcome in Amsterdam, the area were I live. And yes, they have many coffeeshops there but als museums.

@robin14669 ~ If I see John I'll lucky if I'm not to nervous to go up and talk to him. The one time I met Flea, I was fortunate enough to have my camera, so I could get a photo with him. I felt even better when I went to shake his hand, and he hugged me. If I see John I hopefully I'll have a camera, and he'll be kind enough to let me take a photo. Amsterdam won't be the first thing on my mind LOL. Only 3times I've seen John was at a place where I couldn't ask him about his music or take a photo

@robin14669 ~ Sorry I live in the USA, and Robin isn't a popular name, but it's a name that's used for either a boy or girl. We have a few names that could be used for either or, like Terrie, Christie, and Avery. There R also other names that when said could be used for either, but the only difference is in the spelling like Jesse is for a boy, or Jessie is said the same way, but it is a girl's name when it is spelled that way. I am a heterosexual woman, and I think John Frusciante's attractive.

When I hear Jessie I think about the Ethan Hawke character in Before sunrise and Before sunset, movies about real people. John, Flea and Anthony are also like that. First time I saw the Peppers was in 1988 and I was an instant fan. They were different, special. So interesting they like all kinds of European artists. An honest band, I believe that. @Christophanus ~ Smoking affect each person differently, and in a bad way. I used 2 smoke and after 1 year I got extremely bad asthma, and I smoked for 6 years before I was able to quit. Smoking affected my voice, sense of taste, and smell. I got better after I quit, but it took me 3years to fully recover. My Aunt has smoked over 40years, got cancer, 2years ago. She still smokes out of the hole in her throat. My neighbor smoked only a small amount for 5years, then she got throat cancer and died.

A Distinction like "greatest" is not that meaningful outside gross sales. John Frusciante is, nonetheless, one of only a few musicians on the short list of individuals who deserve the distinction of great students and contributors to contemporary music, musicianship and media. He's a student os music and a scholar. But It is only fair to realize he is probably not the most easy going guy during studio and tour time. I doubt he"ll spend much time in long collaborations ever again.

My hopeful theory is that Josh is keeping John's seat warm in the band, because they're best friends, while John does his solo thing, and then John will come back and RHCP will have two guitarists (or Josh will leave to form another band, but will still play with RHCP from time to time). Then again, everything might fall apart and this new album might be the RCHP's last album. I have other theories but they're too dark and negative to be spoken in public.

Il fatto che abbia lasciato i Red Hot mi ha colpito davvero molto, speravo non lo facesse mai perchè sono e rimarranno sempre una band unica, con i loro orizzonti musicali sempre in evoluzione, i loro capolavori, e soprattutto la loro amicizia.
Spero che torneranno insieme perchè nessun altro chitarrista riuscirà mai a dare ai Red Hot Chili Peppers ciò che John ha dato.

anthony kiedis has been repeating himself for about 20 years now, he hasn't done anything new, he's stuck in the same vocal and lyrical style, and flea isn't anything special either. as for the drummer, he's never been anything special. his drumming is amateur at best.

Amazing. This band has been recording for over 20 years and John has been with them for the most part of it. He is rich, famous, accomplished, a recognized talent, but he is as simple and real as he really was. Of course he has grown up and matured but his enthusiasm is the same as when he talked about Hendrix in his early 20s. Everything John says in this interview, he means it. What else can can you ask an artist? he is the antethesis of the typical rockstar. He is no rockstar, he is an artist
