Well the thing is with a MIDI keyboard, you'd be working with software. You really have to just make the choice between hardware and software; there are pros and cons for both (google it =D). For the samplers, I'm not sure about those too. I'm using an MPC1000 and after upgrading the ram and OS, it's an awesome machine. I've seen the MPC500 and I don't think I can work with a screen that small. I think the xr20 is just a drum machine and not meant for sampling.
