man, I remember this game at the UA theatres, I thought it was the coolest game ever invented, had a hard time finding people who could beat me--played it in the lobby while waiting for Star Wars to start in 1977, plus they played Tomita's version of Holst's "The Planets" for intermission music--not to mention I have the same B-day as Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher). Wow, I miss the '70's!
Cool! This was Larry Rosenthal's baby! Cinematronics gladly surrendered 50% of the profits to him in return for being able to manufacter it, as they were very hungry for a new hit game at the time.
*UPDATE 7/3/08* Found someone had purposely disconnected the wires to the hyperspace buttons, who knows why... pressing hyperspace is a crap shoot on the game, maybe it was pissing off players? Anyway, resoldered the wires back on and that function is now working. Unfortunately the #1 option is still not working and I have confirmed that the issue is not with the button or the control panel wiring. The button closure can be measured on an ohmmeter at the ribbon connector for the CCPU. Dang...
I remember seeing this one also in the local arcade at the time pinballs were mostly occupying. The early vector games really were magical.

Cool! Playing Space Wars waiting in line for Star Wars! =)
I hate this video but am keeping it up here until I get a chance to make a better one (or someone else does it). The game definitely deserves better.
