if everyone finished watching every episode and the final act, kikyo gave the jew because she had planned, she was going to destory naruku by herself with the jew itself. She was going to use her powers to kill naruku including the jew when it's complete and Naruku has possession with it. If you watch the final act episode 6 - 8 it explains everything and it's very sad because kikyo dies :'(
