@kariemariann Would you say the same if you lost the ability to use your legs? No, really. If you were in an accident that made you lose the ability to move your legs, would you want to die? If your family asked if that was an option, would you be okay with it? Who are you to decide whether something should live or die? Think before you post next time.

What exactly is wrong with his legs? I couldn't tell by looking at the x-rays from the other video. Was he born that way or did they break somehow and grow back weird?

@Morrisseys7thFriend I may be wrong, but I believe that in another video, a vet said Alera's joints were very loose and had weak nerves that reduced mobility.

you should make Alera a little coat so he doesnt do this in the future. Sweet little cat seems to be very happy and loves you despite his deformities.You are a strong person, to stay so close to Alera.

On second thought it does seem like Alera is trying to scratch himself with his back legs a few times during the video. I hope she's doing well now.

I read somewhere that if an animal finds that part of its body is posing a problem for it to get around(maybe hitting into/getting caught on things), the animal will try to remove it. Maybe that's what poor Alera was doing.

That is a bite from another cat and it is infected. My cat was bitten and it looked just like that. I took him to the vet and he got anti-biotics and got well after awhile. Another cat bit him on the back.

Seconded.. My (wild born rescue) cat would have had my hands off after about 1 minute.... She might be 18 but shes got a fair bit of fire in her :)

Every one in my house, and everyone we have told about the video think Alera is an incredible character who was extremely lucky to be found by such a caring person.

I think he could be having a seizure (about 1:29). I posted my thought on care2 and will keep looking into it. Thomas, keep up the good work and give Alera a big hug and hold him close for me.

I think he's just trying to scratch because Thomas is stopping him from licking and scratching. A cone would definitely be helpful for Alera. The wound is obviously maddeningly itchy!

Aww... poor baby alera :( Hope that the problem soon clears up! How is Lulu doing with the biting problem she had, and is it possible there is a link between the two?

Poor little guy! The itching is probably making him nuts! I hope thats all it is and nothing very serious. Please keep us posted, I have been following Alera's story, and feel for you as well. Best wishes.

Alera looks very uncomfortable, you do a great job with him, I just think the itching is now driving poor Alera crazy, I hope Alera gets better soon.

Looks very familiar to what happened to my dog, it is from a parasite, I do not know the name. The more he bites on it, the worse it gets. You need to get a special cream for it, I don't know the name. It is quite bad.

I am wondering if there is a possibility the kitty is bored and started biting and now can't stop because of mind set,he must not be allowed to get at himself at all. A Cone is a must for now.
