@omarskats3000 Actually, a way that I am getting songs is : off youtube, using a microphone and Microsoft sound recorder. Of course it may not be cd quality, but it's good enough for me! (I'm sure that may not be legal to do, but I say , why make youtube available then, or sound recorder available?!) It takes a bit of tinkering to get it set up right, but if interested I could send you more info. on that. Good luck!
@geebeeman1 you can also record the song on windows movie maker and save it into itunes. my old computer (back when I posted that coment) didnt have movie maker, but now I'm definitely going gto try it. thank you for the advice :)
there's a site called Praguefrank's Country Music Discographies that has just about all of Rick's sessions, including session players, where I found much of this info; it's worth checking out;
you were fortunate seeing the BB; i'm a huge Beach Boys fan, but I was born too late
I have seen them a few times in the last few years, at Casino Rama in Orillia Ontario, they are still great, the performances are excellent, even though Mike Love is the only remaining original member.
Yes, I found that out about Glen while reading Rick's 1992 bio, "Teenage Idol, Travelin' Man," by Philip Bashe; Glen also recorded with Rick, songwriter Jerry Fuller, & guitarist Dave Burgess as The Fleas & The Trophies during 1961 & 1962 (Rick was on background vocals); btw, these same guys are the "vocal trio" I mentioned earlier
Glen also played bass during April 1966 when Rick toured the Far East, since resident bassist Joe Osborn feared transoceanic flying
This song is on Rick's December 1963 album, "Rick Nelson Sings 'For You;" it's available on a 1997 Ace cd (UK company) that couples that album with his other 1963 one, "For Your Sweet Love"
Cool video; Glen Campbell's also playing rhythm guitar on here; he was on many of Rick's sessions from 1961--1967; did a lot of background vocals in 1961, '62; he's part of the trio singing on "Young World" & "It's Up To You"
I didn't know Glen ever backed up Ricky. I saw a Beach Boys Concert here In Toronto in the early 60's, and Glen was filling in for Brian Wilson, because Brian wouldn't travel.
First single record I ever owned! "For You" b/w this. I still say this 45 was the pinnacle of Rick Nelson's career. One of the greatest A/B sides EVER!
I bought this song in the early 1960s when I was a kid. It was on the Decca Label and it still sounds great! This was Rick Nelson's answer to Elvis Presley's hit song Return to Sender! I wish I could have heard him sing live! I did get to watch "Here Come The Nelsons' TV show that was still on in the mid 1960s. Rick Nelson was the kid next store who became a TV star and then a Rock Star over night! The power of TV played a part in it , but his talent and charm made him a teenage Idol!
This was the first 45 record that I bought. I was 8 years old and with my cousin, DeeDee in Newark, NJ at her Dad's laundramat. He gave us each a quarter and we went around the corner to a record shop...i still love it...i saw Ricky at the Tropicana In AC just before he died...I still love to hear him sing...
The single FOR YOU was backed with THAT'S ALL SHE WROTE back in late 1963 (Decca 31574). I'm looking at an original 1963 picture sleeve copy right now.
One of mine and Ginger's favorites. A great little tune off of Rick's 2nd LP for Decca, "Rick Nelson sings For You". Rick sure picked a gem when he did this Keith Colley/Nancy Mantz song.
James Burton, Joe Osborne, Ray Johnson, and Richie Frost did a splendid job with the instrumentation.
Hey Wally, let's go grab a malt and go to a dance where they never play music with vocals because they'd have to pay royalties?? :-)
My favorite Rick song, as well. You have good taste!! If this was released as an A Side and about a year and a half earlier, it would have been a number 1. Same deal with "I Wonder", which was originally recorded by The Pentagons.
Actually, thinking about it, another song that's just as good as this is "Raincoat In The River", which has a very similar melody!
Man, VeeFan'64... this is a sharp Rick recording! I dug it the first time I heard it. For me it was like finding buried treasure. (I had never heard of it before buying the "Sings For You" album at a swap meet. It was in A- condition so it was pretty clean.) I was most pleased when I first heard "That's All She Wrote". I liked it enough to acquire another LP of the same, but this time in STEREO! Cool!
i could listen to this all day

Glen Campbell played or sang on at least 100 of Rick's songs from 1961--March 1967, when Glen became successful in his own right
