Really interesting video. I agree with you, some Christians (not all) are terrible bad at replying to these questions. I o believe that some people are born evil, but I don't really believe that because I'm a christopagan, I believe it because of certain events that I've witnessed and things that I have experienced in my life. Although I do believe in much in the bible, I think that many of the stuff in it is negative and silly, and the opinions I have are rarely based on biblical teaching.Peace
Also I find it interesting that a lot of Christians are like "your going to hell!" I was taught that hell is not a "real" place, that the fire and burning is a metaphor for an afterlife without God.
@slideshowgurl I don't know much about Christo-Paganism because I don't follow it, but I know there are some vloggers out there who are. :) And as far as history, I just always watch everything I can on the History Channel, Science Channel, Bio Channel, and read a lot of books, lol. "The God Who Wasn't There" is a good place to start. :) It's a documentary and you can find it on Netflix.
@charliesaysgo - What happens when someone is not there to tell you what the color is Charlie? Your premise makes no sense for example -, if I took a white piece of paper, showed it to a group of people, took a blue marker(which no one could see) wrote a blue X on it, then asked the group of people what color did they see, you are saying some of them might say red? that is ABSURD. I.e., collectively people see blue BECAUSE THAT IS THE COLOR IT IS; not because someone told them.
@DinoV3lvet You don't understand. I'm not talking about the word "blue." I'm talking about the tone, the color, the image. No one would say "red" (unless they are color deficient). You completely missed the mark and the point on this one. But the color that I see through my eyes and translated by my mind as "blue" may look like what YOUR color perceived through your mind and eye is as MY red. You obviously are too ego-centric to understand this example. Sorry for confusing you. Nice new account.
@jesseeheavens It's not confirmed when Christ was born, but many people believe he was born in the spring (and March does sound familiar) and that during the conversion, to make it more comfortable for those practicing paganism, they moved it to December 25. But there are other reasons for that too. All astrological. Look up "Jesus Is Pagan" on YouTube and watch the video. Super interesting.
@charliesaysgo The reason its thought that Jesus was actually born in March was because the bible says that the shepherds were with their flocks at night when the angels descended. The only time of year historically that shepherds stayed with their flocks overnight was during lambing season...in late Feb through early April. The Christian Romans moved his birth to December to 'compete' (so-to-speak) with the Roman pagan holiday of Saturnalia...the god Saturn, who's birth was December 25th.
@livinghomesteadlife Yep, I know all of that. I very briefly mentioned Saturnalia in my Yule video. And I knew about the shepherds as well, but it was never historically confirmed when Christ was born, at least not through my own research or anything I unearthed. Most of the references (the three kings following the star, the virgin, Bethlehem) are all astrological references.
@charliesaysgo Saturnalia sounded like a good time...maybe it should be reinstated? Haha! Definitely interesting about the parallels between Saturn and Jesus, though!
Other than that, I wanted to say I love this serious dialogue of your own in this series of vids... very thought provoking. Love it... Hugs to you! Blessings...
I have no historical, scientific, or any other fact based evidence to give to you Charlie... I do however have to say that my path has been plunked down in the way of "Conversations with God" - the book you highly suggested a while back. Wow! What a read. I don't know much about the author. Is he a Christian or Atheist, or of some other spiritual/religious path? For some reason, I'd see a writer debunking Christian beliefs in a better light if that writer were he, himself, Christian.
The problem is, it's a part of Christianity to believe that there is only one true God. And as a Christian it's your duty to try to try and save friends and family from going to hell. It's a part of their belief system to preach to others. While admittedly Christians are supposed to be loving and accepting, by definition if you're a Christian you're more likely going to believe there is only one way 'home.' It literally is part of the belief.
@kampferac23 when I went to church as a pubescent teen, a BAPTIST church, my teen group leader emphasized that "preaching" wasn't what we were here for. I'll put it this way, I was taught to "preach to those who are willing to listen"... thus - someone who asked you up front & blatantly "what's the Bible say about THAT?"
That happened to me too! I began reading the old testament and was sickened by all the gory things, and the killing just so the people who were "gods chosen" could get cities and towns, just completely turned me away from Christianity. I had been a hardcore christian before then, believing everyone had to do good and help each other, but after actually sitting down and studying the bible, I completely lost my love for what I had been taught. Then I started an essay onWitchcraftandIfoundpaganism:)
2.ppl r not born sinners or on satin side nor ppl born evil ppl r born good by nature ur instinct r right about this, Mary peace be upon her we as Muslims believe was a virgin and had Jesus 2.peace be upon him was a miracle from God sent to the sons of Israel and as many prophets be4 him they also tried to kill him, but as Muslims we do not believe he was killed or crucified. he was raised by God and saved cuz he prayed to God to save him. and ur rightthe bible was documented years after jesus>
Hello charlie.. I hope i don't get hatred responses for what i am about to say, you are raising very important topic.. the kind of ppl u're talking about exist in many religions, i will tell u 1.something about why all ppl who die have the same experience when we die we do not directly go to heaven or hell heaven and hell will be after judgment day this day will only come after all human beings die at the end of the world and each person will be judged on his\ her own on the way they lived.>
I think once the Roman empire absorbed Christianity as their "true" religion, it became marketed or a way to manipulate from the ambitions of those in positions of power . Just my 2 cents :)
Okay, finished the video. And I must say this with all my heart.... I totally agree with all you said in this. The historical recap is something that has been on my mind for a long time since I've started my spiritual search. Thank you. :)
when my parents got married, my mother was a protestant and my father was a catholic, along with their families. my father's family doesnt want anything to do with my mother because she is a protestant! now when i heard that i was like what the fuck is the point of being of the same religion and a religion that preaches compassion and loving but not accept and love other people of the same religion just different sects? i just dont get it! thats one the reasons why im not a christian anymore.
would love to have more on this topic, you really get me going! you know a great deal on the subject and it helps when i have to talk to my bible thumpin brother
they are! as long as you follow their path.don't want to become negitive, but there are a few open minded christians ,but what i've seen in my 52 years of life,it's their way or,you WILL NOT be with god,it doesn't matter what they have done, they think as long as you believe and except jesus as their savior ,they can have done anything, biggots.they no nothing of karma, which i believe was part of the missing parts of the bible, which i believe was on purpose kept out of the bible
I found it's obvious, that givin the many years of the Christian following, that the charges and the intentions of Christs' charges against him shows a heavy blow intending to Exploit him, and generally to be a 2012 year old 'Shot' intended to bother and exploit Jesus , it's no wonder that he turned to use French and live his last days unbothered (as much as so) in France.
GREAT points. especially the bit about the near death experiences. and the bit that we are NOT born "sinners" or "evil", thats just sillyness, it really is all conditioning. I DIG THIS VID LIKE WHOA. christianity is powerhungry and violent to me. thats yucky. ohh boy and we all know how crazy the game telephone is! i dont get how random peoples stories became the absolute truth... gahh its so WEIRD
Great video. I've often wondered the same things, but quick question. You say you don't believe in hell or the devil (nor do I), but you also say you don't believe in demons. Do you mean there are no demons from hell, or no negative entities/ spirits in general on different planes, or both? Just curious, because I don't believe in demons as the Christians do, however I do believe in negative energy/spirits. Just curious on your take on that. =)
@AutumnRaiin I do believe in negative energy and in spirits and I believe those energies are attracted to one another and clump together to make manifest certain things we might think are bad. But I don't necessarily believe those energies have a consciousness.
its worth noting, not all early christians believed in the trinity or that Jesus was god incarnate, or that he was immaculately conceived (notably the gnostics).
there was an incredible diversity in early christian thought. "The Bible" was compiled under Emperor Constantine's tutelage for political purposes. many early writings like the gospel of john were completly left out, because it did not suite the needs of the Roman aristocracy
because religion became a means of stabilizing and pacifying the empire's population that were in the midst of decades of civil war and strife.
Also, its only when christianity was adopted en mass by gentiles, ie the Roman and Greek Pagans, that this notion of Jesus being a living God took creedance.
Most notable people in antiquity claimed descent from a God in order to gain authority. Julius Caesar claimed descent from Zeus,
Nero claimed to be the brother of Hercules, the royal houses of Rome and Greece (The Brutti and Scipiones etc) all claimed descent from a god as well. as well as the foundations of city (Carthage founded by the God Baal etc etc)
Its easy to see why then, that this notion of the trinity developed. when people adopted christianity, they also brought in their old belief systems based on paganism.
this is why christmas for example is a christian holiday based on pagan origins. instead of worshipping jupiter or whatever on christmas, they just switched to Yahweh.
sorry if that was long, just felt like answering that small portion. and im not a right wing christian :)

I have two questions for you Charlie (I LOVE you by the way:)
1) have you ever done a video on Christio-Paganism (and if not can you do one?)
2) Where can I find more information on Christianity from a historical view? (like books, documentary's ect.)
