  • THIS IS THE ILLEST SONG I EVER HEARD

  • Man I wonder which one is on bass? Cause he's "thumping" I know its not Bootsy cause he had his own solo act.

  • @joshua626 Rodney "skeet" Curtis is the one thumping on bass.

  • 2 people don't deserve deserve a break today

  • i was 17 years at this concert....im 50 now...It was the best time in my life as far as music is concerned....Here in Houston, we thought George Clinton was a God.....he could do no wrong....Thats why most of the live vieos were shot in Houston....we tore the roof off the mutha!

  • @TheBigDisplay I was 13

  • 2 people don't have the pleasure principle necessary to board the mothership.

  • How do you spell releaf. Parliament !

  • @pmartymar

  • @JMRWIGGLES I'd say blind also...

  • Yo I just need to know was that Bigfoot still kickin hard on those drums or had he left by this time as well cause I believe it's still him his drum kit was ridiculous his cymbals were huge bringing that big sound out and to ArgoLupus that's actually Skeet on the bass not Bootsy though we can tell from the way he's playing that Bootsy trained him but all I can say about this is damn when they brought the funk nobody was touchin them at all

  • @MrRocDaSpot20 ......Yes!! Bigfoot on drums...

  • i'm a 21 year old white artist in detroit, and my buddy used to live across the street from United Sounds in a closed down restaurant called "The Place". i've heard a lot of great stories about these guys, they used to eat at the restaurant all the time, and they'd have followers camping outside the studio. for what ever reason, the only music i play on a regular basis is the parliament/funkadelic/clinton discography. that's my music theory in a nutshell.. these dudes taught me how to be myself.

  • Bootsy rocks the bass so hard, he's like Valium and Viagra for the ears

  • @ArgoLupus

thatz not Bootsy, it Rodney "Skeet" Curtis.

  • Where'd you get your funk from? Props to anybody that was at this jam in H-town back in the day, too bad I was just a kid at the time :)

  • @nooloo3000 Because unlike most 16yrs today, you appreciate and understand GREAT music. Today's music sucks. I'm 27 years old and rather listen to this than anything that is on the radio station today. Keep funkin young starchild. keep funkin

  • P-FUNK AT IT'S FINEST!!!

  • what was the date of this concert in houston.... i drove to seattle 5/29/78 - was it before that...

  • 28 yrs here, parliament is unexplainble, like no other, no one will ever equal to the funk they put down, this dude playing the hell out that bass but bootsy is outrages

  • 28 yrs here, parliament is unexplainble, like no other, no one will ever equal to the funk they put down, this dude playing the hell out that bass but bootsy is outrages

  • You are alright! Did your parents play this a lot when you were young? I'll be 29 in less than 2 wks and not many of my peers dig this funky stuff as much as I dig it.

  • Skeet is MURDERING THAT SOLO

  • Funky horns

  • Who are the current chorus girls on tour? I´ve seen them live last year and heard this track too, still groovalistically amazing, I just can´t give up the funk...

  • No This is not pop music..It is raw funk uncut funk..it's so nice...it is it's own reward

  • Funkentelechy is unbelievable live!

  • right on,zonwuka.the funk kicked off the entire universe.

  • Get off your high horse dude. I love this music but it is not pop. You cannot compare the two. This is too sophisticated for average consumers ears hence why simple music will always make the real money.

  • Just like everybody knows the Beatles by name: (John, Paul, George, Ringo) - to me, I call my P-Funk heroes by 1st name or nickname only:

George, Bernie, Eddie, Billy, Tiki, Bootsy, Gary, Glen, Ray, Grady, Fuzzy, Calvin, Maceo, Fred, Catfish, Michael, Blackbyrd, Skeet, Junie, etc. (Shit, I forgot all the girls). I like using their names like they were household names. Like they were those kind of heroes. Maybe there'll be the Chocolate Mothership, like the sequel to Yellow Submarine, one day.

  • I can help you with that, babe. Dawn and Lynn were the Brides and Parlet was Mallia, Jeanette, Debbie. :-)

  • "funk is everything and is nothing.tis and attitude and a state of mind you need to be when there's nothing else to."GC

  • also to B said, without funk there is nothing else

  • Let me ask u all a question...........reply back if u would like to see p-funk return with he mothership and bing back that tight groove!!!!!!!

  • I was at this concert.....awesome memories...play on funk masters

  • wow someone who has the same thoughts i do......finally p-funk power my friend! Its the way the unfunky music industry is today............people dont know what there missing.

    -Atomic Dog

  • By the way, don't let anyone fool you, this is one of the seminal Rock & Roll bands of the 1970s! Parliament-Funkadelic is every bit as legendary as Led Zep or Pink Floyd. Look at all of the cutting edge music coming out of the UK and Europe and you see Bootsy, George & Bernie Worrell all over it!

  • BJ i missed them too, i never saw the mothership show but i did catch them at the LA Funk Festival in 1978. Nice show (Motor Booty Affair show), but not the landing of the Mothership. Still, its nice to have seen them! Most memorable was the Funkadelic portions and them rocking out to Maggot Brain & Cosmic Slop with that huge red eyed skull iin the background!

  • My one regret in life is that I never attended a P-funk concert when they were at their prime..Damn!

  • Also, "You deserve a break today. Have it your way. I ain't gone hold the lettuce, the pickles, or the mustard."

  • George had so much stage swagger. He didn't dance like JamesBrown but he was a MC in the truest since of the word. Man, he could really move and energize a crowd.

  • oh yeah, this is heavyweight funk.

  • go go bands are heavily influenced by this wonderful band trust me

  • One more thing...." When I count to ten I want you to jump up!!!! And stay there!!

And dont come down until I flash the light."

  • All the live videos I'm finding are all in Houston. They must really know how to funkin' party!

  • You wouldnt believe the funk concerts that ran threw Houston....And I tried to be at every one of them!!!......Parliament put on such a dynamic show everytime they came to Houston. I was very surprised they decided to record the live album in L.A. and Oakland.

  • support your local creative music!!! check out PaPa BaLoo from Pa. Funky irie hard rockin jams. youtube either papabaloo or papa baloo

  • Unbeatable...

Ok I've seen this, I can die now (just let me see it a few more times before)

  • "Mind your wants....cuz somebody wants your mind!"..."You deserve a break today, so have it your way..I wont hold the pickels, the lettuce, or the mustard. "

Do you want what`s behind the third door?...heads I win, tails you lose..hooooooo!!

  • they play it at their shows.

  • oh i was saying they don't play it as well as back then, but hell they still give badass concerts!!!!!

  • They are hit-or-miss these days.

I've seen them MANY times. Some nights they are alright others they BLOW IT OUT!

    You just never know.

  • lol... Phoneke.. I thought I was the only one that notice that.

  • Maaaannnn I love how the bass descends and the piano accents from 5:56-6:00.

I am suprised that more funkateers haven't looked at this one. It's a total gem.

  • DO ANY ONE KNOW IF THIS ONE ON DVD?

  • seeing them in concert is something u will never forget

  • Really?

Were you there when Glenn landed the Mothership?

  • Im 23 and it was a pleasure to see that recording on youtube.

I saw GC & Parliament in L.A. this month. The gentleman who performs Glenn's parts does an excellent job.

  • i saw them 3 times this month i am a true funkadelic and in person its a life changing experience but o to belita woods- the girl is bad - its one of there best songs
