  • Loved it!! =] I might of missed it, but did you put Bruno from "The ugliest Dachshund" err I think that's what it was called lol. ;)

  • You did an awesome job on this video! On the next one, please include "Cowboy" a doberman, who starred in the TV movie Night kill" that starred Jaclyn Smith, Mike Connors and Robert Mitchum. He was a great dog! 5 stars!

  • I really loved Jed, a Wolf/Malamute. He was amazing!! He stared in White Fang, The Journey Of Natty Gann and The Thing.

  • That book was messed up about the Man's best friend kill and than it had a Doberman on it! No wonder ppl from that generation mistrust Doberman if they have that garbage to read! And most of the dogs on here were SHepherds.

  • really fine vid. thanks. wanna read a good book about strongheart try "Kinship With All Life" by J Allen Boone. Great stories of a brilliant saint

  • I really enjoyed this! Thanks!

I think you missed the film '8 Below' ( the Husky Movie) I believe it was based on a true story.

  • That was really cool...

  • Hello!

When I was a kid, in the first half of the 80's, I saw here, on the portuguese television, a movie where two dogs carried along prairies, hills and forests a baby inside a basket! With the baby was also carried a duck! It seemed produced in the 50's!

Since then that movie never came out of my mind, and I would like to see it again. Can anyone tell me it's name? I would be very glad!

    Thanks!

  • Hello Thanks for commenting. I know of a movie that fits that description but I have never actually seen it and do not know where you can get a copy.

The movie is called Silent Friends and is from 1969. Silent Friends was coproduced by Canadian and Romanian companies and released under several different titles including Dogs to the Rescue and Prieteni fara grai (in Romania).

The dogs in it are the same ones as the Littlest Hobo dogs. I wish I could find a copy of the movie myself! Good luck!

  • ReelDogs, thank you very much for your precious answer! Most surely is that movie! I will try to find it and I will tell something if I can get that!

By the way, nice video! ; )

  • I think if TV really wanted to remake itself. (In other words get rid of all these comedies that aren't funny, tallent shows that prove they can't find tallen, and all the other crap they have running) They would have more shows like Rin-Tin-Tin or Lassie or some other dog show running. Everyone knows that the best actors in the world, are dogs.

Great compilation of movies (And books) too. I like the music you chose.

  • i hope movie makers re-make rin tin tin

  • Was Call Of The Wild in there?

I thought they made a movie of that xD

And I want to come over to your house and watch some movies with you!

    Lol,I love dogs

  • @BlueMerleAussie 2:56 on the bottom right

  • Okay, I won't complain about Cujo and A Boy And His Dog (sort of out a place for this video), and cutting off the titles for Big Red and a couple others was frustrating, but missing (I think, maybe I'm wrong) in your tribute to Lassie is Lassie with brown make up on that classic John Wayne HONDO poster. Well, impossible to include everything so I still give it a 10 out of 10.

  • @Gnillob, agree with 10 out of 10, had to look up Big Red, thanks for the heads up, also didn't know that was Lassie in Hondo but just looked it up on IMDB and yes you are right.

  • You included so many more than I even ever heard of that quite frankly you had me beat in the first minute. Moonwolf...that's extra credit for sure. Probably missed it, but did you include Friday from those Edward Arnold blind detective films Eyes in the Night (1942) and The Hidden Eye (1945)? Never could find the second film.

  • Thanks for your comment! Friday did not go in here but you can see him in my other movie dog tribute: "112 Years of Dogs in Movies . . ." Friday is seen just for a moment at 2:13.

Moonwolf is a 1959 West German film. This was the American poster but the original title was "Zurück aus dem Weltall" :-)

  • I just checked out your website, but hadn't gone to your channel yet, so I will check that out, premature complaint on my end. When I saw Moonwolf (and that picture of the rocket ship) I immediately went to IMDB to look it up. My expertise is in rocket ship films and somehow that one flew by me.

  • Rocket ship films? That's a niche! Moonwolf is actually available on DVD now if you'd like to see it. I just got my copy from Movies Unlimited. Search for Moon Wolf, two words.

  • There is also a Turner & Hooch image on the video.

  • There is an Amazing Dobermans thing (which is part of the Daring Dobermans series) on this video.

  • thanx for sharing ;)

  • Thanks for watching!

  • I think the only dogs you missed was Murray from "Mad About You" and Verdel in "As Good As It Gets"

    Great Job

  • The dog who played Murray is shown in this video (at 3:12).

I did not "miss" any films. I have over 600 dog movies in my collection and several thousand images and other memorabilia items used to promote them. This tribute was in no way meant to represent all dog films.

  • Wow, you have quite a collection. Wish I had too. I just love dog stories. And I like your tributes.

Would you remember if there are any Belgian shepherds (any variation) in any movie as main character? I've seen Tervuerens acting as wolves in some Narnia series,at least I think they we're Tervuerens, but they were shown only very short time in a dark place. (I didn't like thatseries, though)

  • Hi!

Some Tervuren films are The Werewolf of Fever Swamp (from the Goosebumps books), Ladyhawke, and The Company of Wolves (I have a video on here showing them in that one).

Best Malinois movie is a French film called Red (French title is Trois couleurs: Rouge). There's also one in First Kid and Two Brothers (the tiger movie).

Best Belgian shepherd film, with many, many Belgians in it, is The Breed from 2006. That movie is profiled in the book Wonder Dogs: 101 German Shepherd Dog Films.

  • I worked for Frank in the early '70's he used my Doberman "Baron" in the "Daring Dobermans" movie. I learned much from this huge man! He used "Clickers" before they were called Clickers! He scared the hell out of me! but I still learned SO Much from him. Thanks Frank for teaching me how to stay the course of non-violent training. Bea Pludow

  • i'd give the 5 stars if i could, beautiful

  • This video should be revised because it's missing one of the most loved dogs from the golden age of T.V. (1950's). Along with Rin Tin Tin and Lassie there was...

"BULLET" the Wonder Dog from the Roy Rogers T.V. Show (1951-1957).

  • Where did you see in the title or description of this video that it is a tribute to TV dogs?

  • Reel Dogs...

Rin Tin Tin, Bullet and Lassie originally appeared in Movies and then, stared on TV during the golden age of television.

  • The Rin Tin Tins and Lassies that appeared in films are featured in this video. And you did not mention wishing film dogs were in the video, only TV dogs.

  • does anyone know the name of a tv show that has talking dogs that act like humans?? It's a pretty old tv show and I used to watch it when I was little. I remember that it had a german shepherd on it that had glasses on or something.

  • Was it live action? Black and white or color?

  • I was very young when I saw it but if I remember correctly it was color and I'm not sure about the live action thing my memory of it is very blurry

  • Not sure then but I'll message you a link that might be able to help.

  • Do you mean Rude Dog And The Dweebs??

  • no it's not that

  • That was really cool! Good video

  • Ooooo so many films!!!

Oh i thought of another one! Look who's talking now

Tis a pretty good film =]

  • There are hero dogs,My pet dog Duchess was hit once. She was a Jack Russel She survived it......She died one night when i was at the hospital :'( When i came back we said our last words then the next morning we buried her. Please Send me a message and a friend invite.

    Thank You.

    -Corvett442

  • cool video

  • Hmmm... I like the idea of the tribute.

    But where's "Sounder"?

Or the wolf from "Dances with Wolves"? Poor thing even died at the end.

  • In real life?????????

  • What is the music? Sweet!

  • where is london from the littlest hobo?

  • 1:31 pcdude491

    lol

  • Lassie wuanderfullll!!!

    Rin tin tin is great!!!

  • There was an horror film in the 70s/80s where dogs went on the rampage in a town the bit i remember was two Dobermans jumping through a supermarket window and ragging a woman to bits by chance does anybody know the movie its not the pack i thought it was at first but its not this film sticks in my mind but can't remember the title i thought David soul was in it but not sure ideas anybody.

  • was that not hellhounds or something it was two big rottweiler

  • A bit sad to see how beautifully constructed GSD's were, and how horrendously misshapen they are now.

    What a list!

  • And even sadder that breeds that were once media darlings - German Shepherds, Pitbulls, Dobermans, Rottweilers - are now maligned and considered "vicious" by many..

  • Honestly, the only media darlings, as you can see, were GS. There were no great stars or even much depiction of "pit bulls", Dobes or Rotts. (Latter hardly ever known.)

  • That is not true.

  • Please tell me who besides Petey (PBT) was a great star.

  • Luke and Tige (played in some films by the first dog to play Pete the Pup).

  • Citations? And they sound like characters, rather than the actor ("played by dog to play Pete").

  • get a life

  • Get a life? Why not you? Why not the person who made this film?

As it is, the only other darlings were Benji (mutt) and Lassie. So I was mistaken saying it as if no other dogs were popular. But those 2 and Strongheart and Rin-Tin-Tin were the only true major stars. Otherwise, there sure are alot of German Shepherds, popular or not.

  • i coudnt care less tbh...

  • You should say a nice comment if u watch a nice video u know ur being rude:|

  • Cool video! You should see Eyes of an Angel, featuring Travolta and a fabulous Doberman.

  • Cool! Thanks!

  • Great!

  • a tribut to all major film hero. I love it; most strongheart, rin tin tin and peter the great you know. You will fix a monument for them.

  • Thank you. I know what you mean. Song is "Dog Dreams," by The Story.

  • i love those vids

  • i think sooo lol

  • what song is this

  • Love this heros!

  • I don't think there will ever be movies as good as they made them from 1970's- past. There wasn't as much bad junk like today. RIP to all our star canine pals.

  • yes R.I.P. doggies:'(

  • Congratulations! :)

  • good job :p I'm a cat person but even I enjoyed this

  • I love your collection! I love movie dogs too. I have a great dog that I hope someday will make "the list!" :)

  • GREAT video. I have always been a huge dog lover and this video is a definate favorite.

  • I wish the desendants of Rin-Tin-Tin would follow his footsteps and start seriously getting into the movie business like he did. Rinty made 30 movies during his entire career from The Man From Hell's River in 1922 to the The Lightning Warrior in 1931.

  • Very nice, thanks.

    A fellow dog person.

  • i watch this video everyday!!!!!:)

  • That's where all the views came from:) Thanks for the favorites!

  • Great Movie :-) Old Yeller was actually a Blackmouthed Cur

  • Actually they think he was a Yellow Lab/ Mastiff.

  • he was it said in the book check it out you'll find it there:)

  • Kinda of sad, but an awesome job.

  • cute!

you would prolly like cute with chris shows.

hes funny and his show is based on cute pets.

  • Where the Red Fern Grows, with Dan and Ann, is in this video at 2:54.

  • Don't know if i missed it but i didn't notice the littlest hobo in your list.

  • 32. Lobby card from The Littlest Hobo with London the GSD.

    33. London from The Littlest Hobo, and family.

  • Question, would I be able to put up this video on my website if I disallowed embeding? I train animals for film and many of the dogs in your video inspired me to do what I do. My hero was Charles P Eisenman since his dogs had a 1000 word vocabulary at a time when people thought their limit was 75 words. Frank Inn was good too but too harsh IMO.

  • Hi - Please don't embed this video. If you'd like to share it with others please put up the link on your website. Thank you.

  • great video

    benjy's my fave

  • Thanks. I have seen a few Ginga episodes. Very interesting show. It's too bad it would be so hard to make a live action version . . .

  • Whoa.....Dogs are so smart..... they can learn and love if you teach them.

  • fantastic.

    This is a exelent videp

    Thanks.

  • Thanks from Benji's family! Very cute adn who knew there were so many famous doggies out there?

  • As a child Benji the Hunted was one of the major inspirations for my love of movie dogs today! Thanks for stopping by!

  • who sings this song?

  • The group is The Story. Don't know the name of the singer.

  • Excelent video

Can i embed in my site?

  • I would prefer that you didn't. Can you put the link to it on your site?

  • Ok

    Saludos

  • pretty cool...good job

  • Thanks for watching.

  • ^.^ like da song! lol

  • Great video. So many cute dogs, so many memories. :-)

  • Thanks!
