If only Elvis could've been saved by a person who loved him with no desire for personal gain, unfortunatly all who really loved Elvis that were in his life were pushed back from him by the leeches that latched on and used him to his breaking point. Atleast now Elvis can rest and be at peace. Thank you Wayne for the beautiful song that makes people realize how tired and lonely he really was and how things could've been different if someone only cared for him enough.
just BEAUTIFUL!!!! Seen Wayne do this "Live" years ago when I took my mom to see him for her birthday... just seen Wayne last night in AC and sadly he didn't do this :/ was looking forward to hearing and seeing that again, was an amazing stage set he had, depicting Heaven, with Wayne walking down the staircase in a white tux with a red rose in lapel... Very moving, him and Elvis were GREAT friends, BEAUTIFUL tribute Wayne! Miss you Elvis, rest in Peace
This Song is for you Ronnie, you've been gone from us since 1985, I miss you everyday!! I hope the shadows in your mind are gone now. I remember, Elvis was your favorite singer, I love you and miss you brother!!
While listening to this song, the tears were non-stop!! Elvis had it all...when it came to Fame and Fortune! The one thing he didn't have was TRUE LOVE IN HIS HEART - someone to love him for HIM...not for what he had or what he gave to people. The saddest tribute song I have ever heard. And if you are a TRUE Elvis Fan....this song will bring you to your knees with TEARS!!!!!!!
Elvis Presley; the most beloved singer in history, and unable to find peace in his heart. I think he was robbed in life as he has been in death. How could anyone survive the life he had to lead...? He was never given the chance to LIVE. Life just isn`t fair, and he deserved so much better than he got. Forget all the glitz and glitter; this man was a hollow shell when he finally found the peace on august 16th 1977. I just wonder when the hurtin`s gonna end...?
Truly one of the most beautiful songs out there.....and they are words that Elvis himself wrote down on a piece of paper, probably thinking that no one would ever
see his note let alone have it become a song. Thank you Wayne for doing a beautiful job singing this song....and paying tribute to your dear friend Elvis.
this is a beautiful song never heard it before til now i just ran a cross it searching for elvis songs and he i found this song i'm glad i did thank you wayne newton
This was such a beautiful song and tribute to the great [King] and only could Wayne do such a fine gift to Elvis and all of his devoted fans. Love ya, Wayne and Elvis.
what a Beautiful tribute song from Wayne to his friend Elvis who we all know and love... a crumpled up note Wayne found in Elvis' hotel room, and very sad, "telling"... I seen Wayne do this one "Live" many yrs. ago when I took my mom to see him for her birthday. Wayne came down the staircase, looking like it descended from Heaven, in a tux, and omg talk about Chills... was Absolutely one of the most moving music pieces I've Ever seen. Elvis would be Proud. They were Great friends... RIP Elvis.
I love this video Wayne did. He won many awards for this song. He wrote all of the words around the part he talks. He bought the note Elvis had written at the hotel out of Sotheby's Auction. It is a very heartfelt song. Wayne, loved Elvis and they were good friends. Thank you for posting this.
I love that you have posted so many great performances by Wayne. I was a Vegas lounge entertainer for many years and I would catch his show every chnce I got. I tried his spinning the microphone around by the cord a few times, but when the wire broke it went into the audience. I saw him last year in San Bernardino, CA. and felt so bad for him when those notes just wouldn't come, To me he is one the greatest entertainers ever. He still is a great entertainer... it's just the voice is gone.
Brilliant very moving...I cry every time I hear this..its very spiritual for anyone who needs comfort..not just about Elvis.....Wayne is an icon..its too bad his voice is gone.....I was at his concert last Friday in Orillia..a pro...
@dakotahstr very true... I didn't know he was using his voice, but what a Man, and what a FABULOUS entertainer... and he was a Great friend to the Late, Great Legend Elvis Presley, gotta love that... Elvis didn't have many "True" friends in his life I am guessing, how VERY SAD... tears. RIP Elvis... Never forgotten, your music and legacy lives in all of us...
The real elvis was spiritual and like to live up to Morals and principles. It bothered him when he gave in to temptations but ppl like Priscilla and the guys found this 'boring' they only like Elvis to be fun and Surrounded by Girls etc to be used as a girl magnet for the guys really The Real Elvis didnt want to be like that. it's only normal to feel depressed when life lets you dwns so much. I suffer with depression. I feel maybe towards the end Elvis may have been tired of everything. But Elvis was a HAPPY person at other times. Elvis hadas many ups as he did downs. unfortunatle not many stood by him when He was down. And i mean support him in everything even if that meant Elvis was a religious man. Most of the guys didnt like Larry Geller cos of this. But forgot to realise that this was the real Elvis.
Aww Forgot to thank phyllis for this awesome but moving share and a big thank you also to WayneNo1fan for this wonderful upload. When you have friends like Wayne you are blessed, coz he's a blessed man!
Thanks to Wayne we get to hear this beautiful song. Elvis was such a humble man a quality most admirable among anything else. This beautiful amazing man with the world at his feet always looked upon the almighty calling him Lord his God. .truly amazing what a man! We must never forget. Elvis taught us so much we must apply it in life thats what he would love and..yes. Even I do, when I'm not screwing with the haters and scum!
Thank you for This song and for being a great friend to ELVIS.This song says everything I Think Elvis must have been feeling and you are emotionally connected with Elvis it seems. You are a super star yourself and I Wonder do you often feel like this yourself? If so just remeber God is but a prayer away and I Applaud you for all you have accomplished in your life.Thank you again for this amazing song.God Bless You Always....Huggs,Virginia
love this beautiful song and this great singer Wayne newton... and well Elvis is the king of rock and roll 4ever... thanks for sharing this touching song.
I HAVE met wayne. he is very nice, i laughed. he done the letter at his concert. I was crying. he gave me his hankerchief. him and Elvis was buddies. and The king is gone. but the king of vegas remains. He is worth every dime to see.
Listening to this brought tears to my eyes! I was told about this song from a woman whom I met at the Collingwood Elvis Festival yesterday. She starred in the movie Blue Hawaii with Elvis, the Blonde in the back seat - in the MIDDLE....Patsy! .I spent alot of time with her...and she is one very special woman.
Truly a wonderful song and thankyou to Wayne for singing it.
I FIRST heard this song when I took my mother to see Wayne in 1995. SADLY I lost my mother in 1996, so am Glad I got to share this with her for her birthday...
Wayne did this and was AWESOME and CHILLING... one of the BEST shows and entertainers have EVER seen, have seen many! This song is based on true account by Wayne of a note he DID find that Elvis left.
I thought about this song as well when Michael Jackson died recently. SO Sad... Hope BOTH Elvis and MJ are now Resting in Peace...
The lyrics were written by Elvis on a piece of napkin and found in a room at the Las Vegas Hilton 24 hours before his death. Wayne Newton purchased the napkin, took the words and added music to it. Elvis wrote the word "SON" on the napkin referring to Jesus Christ. As Believers, we can rest assured that Elvis repented, and our LORD took him home. (continue o next comment)
I believe the letter was written by Elvis as a form of crying out to God for help. He was tired and just wanted it all to stop and so he turn to the only real friend he knew for help. It was a written plead for God to come take him home. This letter was Elvis' way of tell everyone how he truly felt deep down inside. It is so sad to me that a man who was loved by so many felt this so alone. So sad don't you agree?
True but Elvis was not as depressed as many made it out to be! He mistrusted most of those around him since they did back stab him at a time he needed friends not because of being depressed I repeat again...but due to being ill, exhausted and tired also a great feeling of let down! Wouldn't then one feel alone?? He was never so depressed and always had fun smiling as well..
knowing you make an excellent point, one always thinks people are depressed when deep inside they hurt, physically, I have no doubt in my mind that Elvis knew some of these so called friends were leeches and did not really care about him, that and his illnesses must have bothered him, he must have had very lonely moments, these maggots treated him like a paycheck after he started getting sick with so many chronic conditions, they did not want him getting them down (rolling eyes) vultures!
When and IF you suffer but this wasn't just that my friend this was a story based on fact that Elvis was anything but a depressed man he was a fun loving person always kiddin around laughing his ass off and how! he felt alone and deceived by one and all. Used and betrayed thats the reason I said friends like Wayne were few and far spread. God Bless this man he is a wonderful person and to do what he did even to put it down for Elvis.. whoa!
Thanks, Wayne, for the great tribute to a friend, you are a real class act...Wished Elvis had lived long enough for you and he to do a Vegas "Rat Pack" act...Two legends...
Wow - for a guy about to die in 1977, Elvis sure left a lot of hints...a LOT of hints. I still take it as given that he died 8/16/77, but I just can't get over how he knew to say goodbye to SO many people in diff. ways & just KNEW for a fact that he was gonna die. Unless he was intending all along to take his own life by OD'ing on prescription drugs, slowly, over the course of several weeks.
In any event, for anyone needing evidence that Elvis DID in fact want out of the spotlight, THIS is it.
Sometimes people can sense their time is nearing and they sometimes tell those whom they love goodbye in their own special way. Perfect example is weeks before my mother died she told us that a dark handsome man was coming to take her away and she wouldn't need to take anything not even money cause it would be useless. The day before she died she told everyone she loved them and she'd miss us.Weird thing was she was healthy and had no illiness. She just went to sleep and was gone.
I remeber when I first saw this video. I'm a long time Elvis fan. I was out of the country when Elvis passed and never had the pleasure of seeing him in concert. Thank you for posting this video.
Truly a great video, thank you for sharing! Three great entertainers are in this video. Wayne Newton, Elvis Presley and the man in the silouettes, shadows and pictured writing the letter Johnny Seaton. The vocal and entertainment talents along with the physical resemblence of Johnny Seaton and Elvis Presley are truly remarkable! If your an Elvis fan, you should see Johnny Seaton. It will take your breath away! Thanks again for sharing this video.
Wayne...thank you for this video. We all love Elvis and miss him very much. It is sad to think of his live in the last few years. Rest in Peace, Elvis. We miss you and love you.
WOW, this is an awesome video, and I was priveleged a few years back, of seeing Wayne for the first time in concert, took my mom, who was a big fan of him and Elvis. This was the most beautiful song, took the audience's breath away, so FINELY done by Wayne... no one could have done it better, a tribute to Elvis for sure// and Wayne is SO SO handsome, and the voice is just so strong, yet breathy... I was amazed at what a performance this man gives, and I was one of the younger people there... WOW
My grandma and I have been huge fans of Wayne for years. We attended one of his last shows at the Stardust in 2005. He truly is one of today's greatest entertainers.
You can now answer people who claim Elvis Presley did not write. He wrote this, most of it was a note discovered in trash by maid. Wayne Newton bought it.
Wayne, is the only person that could hhave made this a number 1 hit. He is so awesome and thank God, he is the one that got the note Elvis had written. I am sure a lot of us have felt these same feeling at times in our life. Wayne did a wonderful job. What an entertainer he is. Thank you, Wayne for just being you!!!! Judy (TULSA)
Elvis is and always will be The greatest performer to ever take the stage. This song sounds as if Elvis knew he was going to leave us very soon. take care E we all miss you :C
Wayne Newton did a very good job on this. The very words he speaks are not just for people with great fame. It's eerie, but some of this is my diary, where I am crying out to God. I've even asked Him to take me, I am ready, I'm so alone and crying out I can't go on. Are you listening, it's too much and this video touches on the very heart of my life. Elvis was raised in a good christian home, and I hope he was ready and in Heaven now with his momma. God Bless the Music and Songs he left for us
I've heard the song a hundred times but never have saw this video. Thanks to Wayne for paying tribute to the greatest entertainer that will ever be put here on Earth. Elvis, we sure are missing you!
Wonderful tribute to Elvis! When I think about Elvis, I am extremely grateful that I am not famous. I am free to go and come as I please. I can go to the store, I can take my Daughter bowling, I can go to the Movies. Elvis did not have that luxury. I'm sure the money is nice, but as we've always heard, Money can't buy happiness. Elvis is the perfect example of that. It breaks my heart that he had so much inner turmoil.
Thank you so much for posting this, I've been looking for this video for like 7 or 8 years for my dad. And he is so happy to have seen it again, Thanks again for posting this up :)
A friend of Wayne's saw a note at an auction that Elvis had written in December of 76 after his last concert at the Las Vegas Hilton. He called Newton who ended up paying thousands of dollars for it. The crumpled up note had been retrieved from Elvis' Hilton room trash can. As most everything else, Elvis' pain was later sold and thankfully it was Wayne Newton who purchased it.
Elvis had scribbled "Help me Lord......." and more words to the effect--"I feel so alone sometimes. The night is quiet for me .I'd love to be able to sleep. I'm glad that everyone has gone now. Help me, Lord..."
a fine tribute from a great entertainer to another!!! awesome song..can you shed some light on this for me? what part did elvis write? wayne wrote some of it and some was written by elvis on a piece of paper in vegas?
Ron, this is it. Remember, the other day, when I thought the other video you posted was the tribute to Elvis! This is the one I meant! Anyway, nice one!
I saw a tv special w/Wayne Newton, a few years back, where Newton actually read it on this tv special in it's entirety. Elvis wrote how lonely he was-very sad.
WOW!!!!

I was amazed at what a performance this man gives, and I was one of the younger people there... WOW

My grandma and I have been huge fans of Wayne for years. We attended one of his last shows at the Stardust in 2005. He truly is one of today's greatest entertainers.

Erik,
You can now answer people who claim Elvis Presley did not write. He wrote this, most of it was a note discovered in trash by maid. Wayne Newton bought it.
Love, Sis

Wayne, is the only person that could hhave made this a number 1 hit. He is so awesome and thank God, he is the one that got the note Elvis had written. I am sure a lot of us have felt these same feeling at times in our life. Wayne did a wonderful job. What an entertainer he is. Thank you, Wayne for just being you!!!! Judy (TULSA)

There was an Entertainer from Milwaukee, Wisconsin
who gave Wayne a copy of Elvis' Last Las Vegas Show
(which was at The Vegas Hilton in 1976), and at the end
of the concert he introduced Wayne in the audience.
I heard it was given to him because Wayne could not
remember the exact date of Elvis' Last Vegas Show.

This song says it all...great tribute to a great but tragic figure; fame and money never bought happiness for elvis...thanks, Wayne

I saw a tv special w/Wayne Newton, a few years back, where Newton actually read it on this tv special in it's entirety. Elvis wrote how lonely he was-very sad.
Newton & Elvis had been good friends.
