  • this is great! dude 8:22 is hilarious

  • i love the way people get there opinion's from random book's :D my opinions come from my actual ITF school where i actually paracticed ITF and they had the ITF encyclopedia back in australia :) living in japan now, taken up kyokushin here, seems very similer , so thats great for me :D

  • That men should stop bothering that girl XD

  • excellent .

  • I have a student whom I train with who practices both ITA Taekwondo and ITF. I was teaching class a week ago and was talking about the different styles and said that there are different TKD styles...that doesn't make one better than the other. My student then raised his hand and said "same house, different door sir."....think about it..

  • @SOCOMSoldier01 i dont totally disagree with that but one style that is left behind and useless in my opinion is WTF all about scoring points with the legs and no focus at all on guarding or using with the hands, thats how it was back in australia anyway, maybe other countries have better versions of WTF but judging from the olympics i still cant see it

  • SICK control. totall SICK

  • Excellent demo of ITF Taekwon-do,inspiring!

  • love it! thanks for sharing

  • brilliant control :D

  • wtf is what the fuck right?lol

  • Taekkyon+Karate Shotokan+modern science pratique as a fighting style could be very dangerous, practique as a sport its nothing cause sport its to have fun of what you do

  • If you guys like this than check out Muay Thai.

  • @DigbyWeapon actually north koreans practice realy fighting style tkd unlike the sportized tkd you see these days

  • excellent taekwondo is a styleish martial arts

  • wtf is about to combine with itf

  • ??

    Could explain further??

  • itf is gonna be made one with wtf in terms of everything.sylabus,etc.i read it at tkd hall of fame website.u check it out urself

  • @khairuleven There are discussions taking place about the unification of the two styles but since currently we have 3 separate organizations that call themselves ITF(the one that chose a president democratically after Gen Choi's death, the one led by Choi Jung Hwa and the one led by Chang Ung) that unification won't happen soon. There are attempts of unification of ITF which should take place before the one with WTF.

  • 5.06 - 6.05 - 6.43 !

  • fuck WTF, long live ITF. real taekwondo is itf not shitty useless wtf made by korean gov

  • @lawker777 spot on :) how violent is that last girl, they forgot to tell her its a demo

  • tru dat. rofl

  • umm the same government made ITF too....

  • wait? wt? tell me more

  • actualy general choi invented ITF who was a 2nd dan in shotokan and he mixed with ancient korean martial called takyeon when korea was under japanese rule, learn ya facts before you post them ;)

  • @barefootbandit83 , if it is truth then what bruce lee said also truth. karate came from kung fu and taikwondo came from karate. korea had their own called tangsudo.

  • @barefootbandit83 i'm not against tkd but general choi never actually learned taekkyon. That's why there's no similarity between the kicks in both arts. his caligraphy teacher practised taekkyon but during that time taekkyon was banned and whoever practised it was tortured. Its just shotokan with more concentration on kicks and no taekkyon. why they decide to say its from taekkyon is because they wanted to elevate the people's esteem at that time since it was so low after the occupation.

  • @kero7642 eh well the original shotokan manual had like 4 kicks in it dude...

  • @ubersum1 went through taekkyon manual. there are no tkd kicks. tkd kicks made by logic then. I mean, they're the simplest kicks anyone can think of. taekkyon has so many different styles of kicks but rarely any that resemble tkd.

  • @kero7642 hey i don't know jack about taekkyon lol did i say anything about it? all i know is i doubt taekwondo got it's extensive catalogue of kicks from shotokan.

  • @kero7642 well the kicking techniques rmeind me of northern kung fu, but that would be implausible due to the fact that the art was created from taekwondo. Honestly I think taekwondo is a convoluted mess now.

  • @barefootbandit83 lol...I thought you said "learn ye' facts". Argh

  • ITF and WTF came both later.

Taekwondo was Taekwondo, under many schooles (mine is a "Moo Duk Kwan" school, a school of TangSooDo/SooBahkDo and Taekwondo).

Later they split in two different Federations; WTF became more and more "sport oriented" while ITF retained some of the traditional parts, while still modifying something else ;)

And don't be an hater, please. Martial Arts are not focues on promoting hating.

  • do you havre to slow mo every part?

  • It's AWESOME!!!

  • breaking a brick hurts a hell of a lot more than it looks like it does

  • "Tae" means to kick, "Kwon" means to punch,

"Do" is the art that we all love so much.

Based on scientific movement and Asian philosophy,

General Choi leaves the world his "Legacy".

  • General Choi, General Choi

created TaeKwon-Do for all to enjoy.

He studied Karate, he studied TaeKyon

from a calligrapher known as Master Ill Dong

He was sent to the US in June 1949

for military training, had to leave his wife behind.

He returned to Korea, to fight in the war,

and the "fist division" insignia he wor

  • @dynapert where is this from?

  • both wtf itf teaches self defence !!!

  • yes u rite..but when i attend GM choi jung hwa and Master Tervor Nichols seminar..ITF spinning back kick different compare to WTF..but i still prefer ITF...

  • damn! O.O at 5:33 it's look like sr. miyagui! "karate kid"

  • Isto é TAEKWONDO !!!

  • nice video

  • Holy crap at 5:37....

  • but wtf still have one of the most dangerous kick...spinning back swing..or spinning back kick...especially..korean style of spinning back swing kick 360 degree..i prefer ITF but i still training WTF..u got 2 technique better than u got 1 technique..am i right?

  • I think your refering to what we call the reverse turning kick. or you could be refering to the plain back kick.

  • what the hell are you talking about?

  • dude there's also spinning back kick in itf taekwondo

  • WTF weak in hand training...but ITF complete..hand and leg..elbow..knee..didnot believe me? train itf pattern from Do-san to Chong moo..i learn both wtf and itf..i prefer ITF..becoz it has sign wave..breath control..make u faster and more powerful..breath control itf good for heart..make u fast aand flexible...wtf too stiff that why wtf kicking most are cutting turning kick(45 degree turning kick)this kick only to score point in the ring..but not for outside street fight..

  • @whackoes2 Chong moo is a fun form/pattern. I like the knee strikes.

  • Damn, crazy speed and unbelievable balance! Not much advanced technology in the North Korean Military but there Striking department is top notch! Awesome display of traditional TKD.

  • If you see a ref in the middle. It's sparring. If not then it's a demo.

  • i think the first minute was three-step-sparring, correct me if i'm wrong

  • nope, one-step

  • 2:19 is hilarious

  • Where was this demo done and what was that occasion. And oh yea stop with that ITF and WTF bitchiness guys we are all martial artist.

  • omfg im scred of ITF. i do WTF, and it seems alot more safer then ITF

  • @savedxsoul

your wrong ITF is about control and technique, also about safety with majority of things we dont even contact with.

  • I do TKD (ITF) and the only ones decent enough as the actual art is concerned is the North Korean Team (Their boards are actual thick boards for a start) and the WTF masters. As a generality the standard outside of Korea is low, which can be said for most arts.

  • Well, argeuing is pointless. Either you see it or you don,t. WTF is doing fine, nobody is trying to convert you or anyone. train as you like.

  • they're getting there. soon they will be close to WTF level, and maybe finally there will be only 1 TKD union.

  • They're getting there? Excuse me, but ITF is biomechanically superior to WTF, and this fact will be evident once the two join and have the opportunity to fight eachother in international competition.

  • Fight? non-contact ITF style or full contact WTF?

WTF is most scientifically developed martial art. ALl major Korean universities have extansive programs and continuous research to make each aspect most effecient bio-mechanically. ITF does have some solid traditional aspects, thats good, but its not superior to WTF.

  • Full contact is pointless if the kicks aren't all that powerful to begin with (i.e. bouncy turning kicks against gravity without proper hip rotation for optimal power) or with no punching to the head. If Korean Universities are researching, they're either doing a very poor job, or they're not telling the rest of the world what they've found.

  • And please don't say that Korean Universities are doing a very poor job. I'm Korean and I'm offended by that...Ever heard of Yong In University? I really want you to go over there and spar them some of their fighters, they'll do about 5 kicks to your head before you even fall to the ground. ITF competitions do not allow kicking to the head...so whats wrong with ITF?

  • Uh.... ITF does have kicking to the head. It's WTF that doesn't allow punching to the head.

  • Umm...Okay, it doesn't. Kicks to the head in ITF have to be controlled, and criteria for point awards will be valid only when they are stopped 2cm away from the target.

  • Well of coz! One of the tenets of taekwon-do ITF is Self-Control.

Still there are broken arms and dislocated jaws in amateur tournaments.

  • You'll find plenty of Korean-trained masters in the USA, btw, who continue to teach the ITF forms, but have severed ties with the ITF.

So there is not as sharp a divide between ITF and WTF taekwon-do as it may appear. My own dojang was founded by a master who trained under General Choi, and we learn ITF techniques and forms. The master, however, holds an 8th or 9th Dan certification from the WTF (not the ITF) and our sparring rules are, largely, WTF ones.

  • Also, don't even get my started on your guys' patterns/forms. The superiority of ITF can clearly be seen there from a biomechanical standpoint.

  • Okay...Ummm, "biomechanical" wow, relax on the big words there. lol. For a starters ITF and WTF is both Taekwondo, hence the name..International TAEKWONDO Federation...World TAEKWONDO Federation. Have you ever fought a WTF Taekwondo Practitioner?, I'll be surprised if your kicks would as fast, strong and flowing like the WTF Practitioner. There is nothing wrong with our patterns and forms...and don't think ITF is superior..for thinking that your a stoodge.

  • They may both be called Taekwon-do, but they are two very different things. Yes, I have fought WTF practitioners, and yes, there are things wrong with your forms. They were sloppily created as a way for thw KTA/WTF to say that they were different from Karate to compete with the ITF. And if you think biomechanical is a big word, then get your education upgraded; maybe after some lessons in functional anatomy you'll understand what I'm talking about.

  • So what is wrong with our forms?...There is nothing wrong with our forms...and you say they were "sloppily" created?...From what I see WTF forms are created pretty well. I admire ITF practitioners...but narrow-minded ITF dicks like you piss me off. Both are Taekwondo one in the same. ITF or WTF. They are not "VERY" different. ITF need to get there politics right before they start talking.

  • you guys dont use breath control,

you have small stances, no gaurd when you spar, no blocks, no punches... just kicks um that is nowere near like itf.

    but yeh same art.

  • Our sparring is all about speed, and in the end sparring is only a sport. We punch, we kick, we do breath, and not only that, we are endorsed by the South Korean Government. Our kicks and your kicks are not different, our punches and your punches aren't different. It is the same Art. Its got the same name.

  • so you train WTF then right?

  • Yeah, as a matter of fact, I do train in WTF.

  • @sng18 I've been doing Taekwondo with the ITA for about 10 years and teaching for five. We do modified versions of the Chang Hun forms. I respect all styles of Taekwondo and like watching someone who is really skilled in what they do perform one. If there is one thing I hate about Taekwondo...it is all of the politics that surround it. I've met people who rank highly in ITF and WTF styles and we mutually respect each other for the things that make us the same and different.
