@ctrymaus Thank you very much! It's great to see you back here again. I'm still waiting to hear about the job. There has been a hold up and now I've been told that I won't find out till almost Christmas. Frustrating, but it will be worth it if I get it.
Wow, I just love this, Michelle, what a wonderful original! Love your hook, "Seconds Become Minutes." How many of us haven't waited like this for a phone call? Great universal appeal here, and as always, you perform it so beautifully! I'd love to favorite this one, but Youtube's new changes have done away with my favorites, sigh. Oh well. :) Janet
@onewomanandsomesongs Thank you so much Janet! This means a lot coming from a great songwriter like you. I really appreciate you watching. Sorry to hear you've lost your favorites too - I seem to have lost my subscriber list in the new format. Can't find it anywhere. I hope they fix the bugs soon! Thank you so much again for such a lovely comment.
@reyalpEleluku Thank you Michael, and thanks for the best wishes! (and no, it wasn't part of my application. Maybe it should have been - I could have given them a laugh!)
@phillipsderek Thank you so much for taking the time to watch Derek! I really appreciate it. I'm glad you liked it too! It has been way too long between original songs for me so it was good to finally finish one.
@TheRealMusicVideo Thank you very much! It's a Barron River ukulele for the main part of the song - made by a luthier in Cairns, Australia. I've got a link to his site in the description of the video. The uke in the solo is a Koaloha Superconcert.
Very creative Michelle! You have written some great lyrics and put it all together in a very nice presentation with your Ukulele playing and the video editing.
Someday I would like to write my own lyrics and put them to music. Any recommendations on how to get started?
@UkuleleSongs Thank you very much David! I'm glad you liked it. As far as songwriting advice, I'm probably not a good person to ask seeing it has been a year between songs for me. The way I do it is come up with the lyrics first, then a melody seems to naturally come from the lyrics, so then I work out what chords I need for the melody I hear in my head. If you work better with the music first though, you could always play through some chord progressions and see if any lyrics come.
Thank you for your good ideas. I like your concept of flexibility, i.e. starting either with the lyrics first and then creating the music or vice versa. Another idea a friend of mine shared is to first give the song a title and then create lyrics that support the title. Hopefully I will be able to apply your advice and come up with my own original song in the near future.
I'm sorry, Michelle, but you'll have to wait a bit longer. I can't afford the long-distance charges right now. On the bright side, you've had six calls already (that's more than I get in a week), and on the even brighter side, you've written a fantastic song. Well done!
@songblurred Thank you Don! That's exactly the way I was thinking - if I don't get the job, then at least I get a song out of it. All that waiting ended with an email that afternoon saying the decision process will take a bit longer, so still waiting…..
@Sheepstar15 Thank you very much Anna! It was just a fun one.... I'm glad it broke the writing drought though! It has been too long since I've actually finished a song.
@UKISOCIETY I apologise for that Alan! Have to admit though, I'm also kind of glad it's stuck in your head :) Those soundholes are great, aren't they? It's very loud too, for such small soundholes.
@waterdog226 Thank you Lynda! I'm glad you liked it. And yes, Alan from Barron River Guitars and Ukuleles makes really great ukes. This was a trial one he made to test some bracing. I love the sound of it.
Wow, I am very impressed! Original song and fancy Video editing. Very cool indeed
