  • Go to a local Marine Corps recruiting office and ask if you could attend one of their PT's (physical training), compared to that, any workout will feel easy.

  • you should just start lifting hardcore. I am doing the biggest loser club diet plan and they say strength training should take up 70% of your workout regimen. you have lost a lot of weight if you gain some muscle you will look great!

STAY AWAY FROM WHITE CARBS! only eat whole wheat and u will be good. Drink atleast 64 oz of water a day and take a fiber supplement to keep your body flushed and healthy! good luck everyone joining in!

  • As a person who has lost about 100 pounds over 7 years, I applaud your commitment to change. What really helps me feel full for long periods of time and gives me sustained energy is when I added brown rice into my diet b/c since its a low glycemic index carb, your insulin increases slowly and therefore less fat storage takes place compared to white rice XD.

  • Im 6'1" and 192lb (hoping to be around 175lb. Been working out now for a good 6/7 months properly so I do have some muscle. Bench press - 80kg 3x8 (to give an idea). Anyways, this is exaclty what im going to do with regards to no white flour carbs, plenty of protein to maintain my muscle and lots of working out. However, no cheat day for me. Maybe one day a week ill have a handful of chips with my meal. Newho, good luck with the weight loss. Also, have a look at metabolic training, its amazing.

  • BMI's a horrible way to determine if you're overweight. It doesn't account for lean body mass.

  • here's my 2 cents : hit the gym :). I started going to the gym like a year and a half ago. I was just doing a 1 hour program, lost tons of fat gained tons of muscle. The good thing is : didn't have to cut off the food :).

    Interesting perspective from Psyc folks out here - if you miss a day or don't perform optimally, don't look at those as "failures" or "do nothing days" - relapse and missing a bit are part of the process of goal-achievement, in that they let you explore what the cause is and how to deal with it to prevent future relapse.

    Hit me up if you're interested in the psyc/mindset stuff that accompanies successful health changes :)

    I agree with eating what you want one day a week, but do NOT GORGE! Gorging in anyway is awful for your body. I've used this concept before to lose alot of weight and it does work when you follow the rules, just don't eat until your sick or full.

    Enjoy it, eat a regular portion, maybe a bit more and you'll be on the right track.

  • Beef and pork isn't really good to eat if you're trying to lose weight. You should eat a lot of chicken and fish, eggs and beans for your protein.

  • I've actually been on a low carb diet but it doesn't seem to be working like I want it to. Maybe because it's harder for women to lose weight (in a healthy way). But, I'm soon going to start doing taebo and what not so hopefully the weight will start coming off. =)

  • @Jsm000007 National law doesnt trump state law...10th amendment. 11th amendment. essentially states cann choose to nullify fed laws deemed wrong by the state.

  • @hasanmahdiink Article VI, Section 1, Clause 2. the 10th doesn't apply since the federal government already has a law against weed. Phil won't be prosecuted because the state courts can't do it, and i highly doubt federal enforcement would occur putting any med card users in any trouble. but technically it's still illegal to smoke weed because of the supremacy clause.

  • I think you're on the right track Phil.

    Eating healthy is important and the weight loss will come later.

    I try to eat all my big meals early on in the day and never eat a big dinner or only snack in the evening.

    If you go to sleep with a big gutfull of food it puts stress on your liver and any kind of stress on your liver can lead to a slow down in metabolism and of course getting fat.

  • fruit, peanut butter sandwich, milk, lettuce, that's all you need to live. go organic

  • Make sure not to eat too much protein! If you don't use excess protein it automatically turns to fat. Good luck!

  • Eat traditional oatmeal... There are loads of recipes online to make it taste good. It's great for the heart, very healthy, packed with good carbs and makes you feel more full. Hope you read this and take my advice!

  • um carbs are good for you. there are healthy and unhealthy. but if you dont eat carbs your pritty much only eating meat because veggies are all filled with carbs.

  • @lovenhate14 also to make sure you dont get more calories then you need to help calculate look at the little info on the food and times any fats by 9 and any protine and carb by 4 ( this is because each fat is 9 calories and each protine and carbohydrate are 4 calories) after you have multiplyed the fats protienes and carbs by the numbers up above add the products and thats how many calories you will be getting from that food item.

  • @lovenhate14 He means he's going to stop eating simple carbohydrates (The bad carbs) such as breads, cookies, sweets and all that shit. Obviously if he included spinach and other vegetables then he's going to east complex carbohydrates (The good carbs) ;)

  • FIBER! makes you feel more full. therefore, you'll eat less.

  • BMI is overrated, if you go to the gym at all then the amount of lean body mass you have (LBM includes muscle) will throw off the BMI scale. For example, on the extreme, look at Arnold, he was 240 pounds at 6'2" the BMI scale would put him at obese but clearly he didn't have an excessive amount of body fat. In reality, the skin fold test for body fat percentage is much more effective at showing your progress and body composition. That's my understanding. Good Luck Phil

  • hey if your using a bmi thing to mesure dont!!!! its a very outdated and terrible way to do it you need to mesure your body fat percentage thats what you want to lose bmi doesnt account for muscle mass or water wieght its very un acurate like my spelling

  • Some things this skinny person can tell you about weight lose. As Phil said, it's true that binge eating one day periodically helps you lose weight. This is because your metabolism decreases when your body becomes used to not needing such a high metabolism (i.e. eating less). Binge eating thus tricks your body into thinking it needs to keep a high metabolism and more break down takes place instead of turning into fat. Another note is that meat, milk and eggs are bad for you in any amount.

  • I agree with your planned diet and the logic behind it. I have found that the better I eat the more my body rejects junk food and over eating. Now every single time I sit down and eat fast food or anything super unhealthy like that I can't stand to eat a lot and I just start feeling terrible for the next hour.     Ive learned recently that a serving size for anyone is the size of your cliched fist. Also you should try to chew your food at least 30-50 times before you swallow each bite. And a balanced meal is a serving (as above) of a protein, a carb, and a veggie in no particular order. The six meals a day thing is also good but i can't eat that much due to time at work, so ive been subbing it with a protein shake.

    Hope this helps a little. i need to lose about 60 lbs myself. best to ya!

  • Use cooking spray instead of butter when making your foods and try the website fitday.com it allows you to add items you've eaten all day and a lot of the foods it has stats for already but it gives you the ability to add your own foods. For example...I have my favorite 6 inch sub from subway entered in there so when I eat it, it will already be there. And it will give you a graph that shows the % you eat in each category and also you can add your exercise...and...it's free!
