  • Vasco da Gama Bridge (portugal) has 17.2km long... so it beats a lot of the bridges there

  • @snowboardbodyboard its not that distance... its the one between the pylones.

  • its all true exept number 3... it is the mackinaw bridge in michigan. that is the #3 in the world

  • @samcaruth Well Great belt bridge has the longest span with a total span of 1624 metres . I think the video is made from that point of view.

Mackinaw is only 1158 metres. But yes if you take the total length of the bridge, Mackinaw is something like 8 kilometres while Great belt is something like 6,7 or 6,8 kilometres without the low bridge which provide it with another 6,5 kilometres. unfortunately that one doesn´t count because both bridges are linked together with a little island.

  • @NACYCLESDEN from the payzone on the east side to the island on the west side its 18 km.

  • @NACYCLESDEN but it should be the gap between the pylones...

well italy will soon get the biggest one with a free span of 3300 meters.

  • Why does everyone in the USA always overlook the "Mackinaw Bridge" that crosses over the Straights of Mackinaw, connecting upper and lower Michigan? Here's some info from Widipedia:

"At 8,614 feet (2,626 m), the Mackinac Bridge is the longest suspension bridge with two towers between anchorages in the Western Hemisphere...because of the long leadups to the anchorages on the Mackinac, from shoreline to shoreline it is much longer at 5 miles (8.0 km) than the Akashi-Kaikyo (2.4 miles (3.9 km))."

  • Hey nice!

I also enjoy bridges, as well as airports!

I've been to the Hong Kong bridge before.

I had to cross the bridge before going back to the airport!

Btw, I LA rained, and the city was so clear afterwards!

I just realized that the buildings only look tall during clear days.

Sucks to see Golden Gate Bridge on 9th!

    But its still beautifuL!

If you see it in real life, its like your looking at a picture!

  • i thought the Golden Gate Bridge was the longest and tallest in the U.S but it turns out that the verrazano bridge is the longest and tallest

i can even see it from my house

  • That sucker, if it was a building, it would be the second tallest building in San Francisco only.

But since the GGB was built in such history,

and this is now our modern world,

a lot more bridges will be built!

And I wish I can see a Downtown with such a beautiful bridge from my window!

But it turned out that I can only see 3beautiful mountains in one window, with a casino, and two other directions, which only view the towns.

Its good to watch out from disasters cause of 3 directions.

  • @Keaphar The Golden Gate's towers are nearly 100 feet taller than the Verrazano's. However, the Verrazano has the longer main span by a whopping 60 feet =) so it's accepted as the longest in the US and also the Western Hemisphere. The Verrazano's deck at center-span is also about 40 feet higher above mean high water according to the stats I've looked up. Both bridges are so huge and imposing that they can be viewed from surrounding landscapes up to 40 miles away.
