For me, Far Cry 2 edges out slightly as being the better game. I love the free roaming sandbox style of the game. It's glitchy but not nearly as much as Crysis. I almost couldn't finish Crysis and had to restart the game three times because of a bug. Both stories are equally as pathetic. The story in Crysis is very cliched and Far Cry 2's is uninteresting. As for graphics, I think both have their merits and honestly don't prefer one over the other.
@27Markarian Yeah, but Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis was a very long game (50+ hours!) and it had a believable and much more interesting story, despite being a military simulator. I'm not saying that Far Cry 2 is a boring game- I really love it; it's just that the story is supposed to be a critical element of the game and that's what makes it fall short of being a spectacular game. Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield also had a lame plot, but I really enjoy it regardless.

Far Cry 2's Dunia Engine has some code from Cryengine, so they should both be somewhat identical in all aspects. But since Far Cry 2 was ported to both Console and PC, Crysis has the upper hand in the fight. The physics in both games are great, but Crysis has more physics because it is PC only, and did not have to have anything lowered for the consoles. The graphics of both Far Cry 2 and Crysis are great as well. But yet again, Crysis wins since it is PC only. In my opinion, Crysis wins here.

what I think far cry 2 does better, is the day night cycle is intense, if you never use the hut to go to sleep, it will take 24 hours for a full cycle to complete. that is intense dev
Well Crysis is a definetly realistic game with probably better graphics but Far Cry 2 has some realistic moments of it's own, like the health restoring system, each bullet, wound you receive you have to heal on your own and also when you enter vehicles you actually enter the car and not teleport into the car like Crysis but Crysis is better due to better graphics :P

Overall - Crysis > Far Cry 2 > Crysis 2. Yes far cry 2 is on-par or better in graphics compared to crysis 2. Biggest Difference - DX 10 vs DX 9. Crysis 2 is an epic fail when it comes to graphics.

@SMGJohn fc2 and crysis main graphics are debatable which is better but, water in crysis is better. murky water is a flat dull color with no light refraction in the waterand still should have some light going through, but crysis water has lights shining in the water. Also to note neither game has better water realism. water isnt dynamic at all. you shoot a bullet in the water its allways the same. you walk in the water you see water rings around you.

Well graphic is amazing everywhere, I've tried both, Far cry 2 has more realistic explosions and in my opinion, more realistic trees and forests. Crysis has more realistic water, if seen from the underwater.
Anyway, all the people eho want a realistic fps of course choose Far Cry 2, cause of the story and realistic facts. Far Cry 2 also can make people reflect on things.
vegetation - far cry 2. The textures are much better and ALL vegetation is 3d modeled. When you run into it it folds down and flops back up even when hitting it with a car.

Looks very biased towards Crysis. Even if it is better than FarCry2, still FC2 presented as having dull colorless environment which i'm sure is not. Sub water is unequal too - in Crysis it is shallow ocean and in FC2 its muddy jungle river. Also forgot about explosions in FC2. Nice job for video, poor for making proper comparison.

The top and bottom images at 0:13 is what Ubisoft and Crytek offered actually. If you look at the game as it is now, there was a major leap in graphics. Looked worse, however I think you'll achieve this by graphics configs by other users. Its just what I think.

Overall - Crysis > Far Cry 2 > Crysis 2. Yes far cry 2 is on-par or better in graphics compared to crysis 2. Biggest Difference - DX 10 vs DX 9. Crysis 2 is an epic fail when it comes to graphics.
Lets wait for Far Cry 3, it's coming end of this year.

@rahully2j I thought both games were terrible, crysis was so linear and boring, so I stopped playing, far cry 2 had such horrible controls with the mouse, and horrible AI, that I stopped playing. Both are crap games, regardless of their graphics which aren't even that good.

@com3se3m3 - well, linear gameplay is fun. Crysis 2 has non-linear gameplay which is terrible as you can't do much. Though, I have to admit that crysis got boring in later stages, specially that alien part which got repetitive. Far cry had good AI, intelligent enemies way better than crysis. I don't know what graphics card you got, but saying that their graphics aren't good is just pure ignorant. The game came out in 2007 and is still the best.

@SMGJohn fc2 and crysis main graphics are debatable which is better but, water in crysis is better. murky water is a flat dull color with no light refraction in the waterand still should have some light going through, but crysis water has lights shining in the water. Also to note neither game has better water realism. water isnt dynamic at all. you shoot a bullet in the water its allways the same. you walk in the water you see water rings around you.

Well graphic is amazing everywhere, I've tried both, Far cry 2 has more realistic explosions and in my opinion, more realistic trees and forests. Crysis has more realistic water, if seen from the underwater.
Anyway, all the people eho want a realistic fps of course choose Far Cry 2, cause of the story and realistic facts. Far Cry 2 also can make people reflect on things.

vegetation - far cry 2. The textures are much better and ALL vegetation is 3d modeled. When you run into it it folds down and flops back up even when hitting it with a car.

far cry 2 makers should gave me the game and not make it for the whole world. too many people saying that it was a boring game. i appreciated every second of the game and for me was a real piece of art.

Looks very biased towards Crysis. Even if it is better than FarCry2, still FC2 presented as having dull colorless environment which i'm sure is not. Sub water is unequal too - in Crysis it is shallow ocean and in FC2 its muddy jungle river. Also forgot about explosions in FC2. Nice job for video, poor for making proper comparison.

in esplosioni e fuochi far cry 2 è molto meglio e anche nella vegeazione, i veioli di entrambi sembrano molto simili per quanto riguarda il sole beh tutti e due hanno ottimi effetti luce/ombra quindi direi che ci sono pochi punti in più di differenza tra crysis e far cry 2

The top and bottom images at 0:13 is what Ubisoft and Crytek offered actually. If you look at the game as it is now, there was a major leap in graphics. Looked worse, however I think you'll achieve this by graphics configs by other users. Its just what I think.
