What happened to Morgana? The writers, who played up the Arthur/Morgana chemistry in season one and they did a complete 160 degree turn and had him fall in love with Gwen instead. Then they killed the Gwen/Lancelot storyline from the legend(killing Lancelot in the process) and made Morgana hate Arthur for no apparent reason, forgetting that she's the one who bears his child(Mordred) and takes Arthur with her to Avalon at the end of the story. Where is Marion Zimmer Bradley when you need her?

@44excalibur well the series is an entirely different take on the legend, playing around with it, so it's not going to be the same. Also - there were LOTS of romantic interests in s1 - Gwen/Merlin Merlin/Morgana Arthur/Morgana Gwen/Lancelot were all canon. The writers were leaving it very open, then they decided which way to go - they decided on Arwen rather than Armor because it's a family show and incest isn't really something for a family show. And in this series Morded isn't anyone's son.
