Afterward they took him to the vet and had him treated, then he lived out his last year comfortably and happily in a foster home. I have seen the video of it on the organization's Facebook page!

The people in the video were a neighbor who called about Doogie's being left on the ground for 2-3 days like that and the ones who rescued him, not the owners. Tammy Grimes rescued Doogie from that situation and took him to a vet because he was dying. However, she was charged with and convicted last December of "theft" because the judge considered Doogie "stolen property" and the neglectful owners were never charged with animal abuse to this day. Outrageous! Doogie died in a loving foster home.

Doogie had 5 good months after this video was made. He gained weight, played on grass and took medications to help with the pain caused by being chained up for so long. He also knew people cared about him and hadn't been left to die in the drt on the end of a heavy chain.

The fact that this woman got arrested for trying to help this dog just shows where our laws need improving. If this was a child laying there noone would say to put it out of its misery and she sure as hell wouldnt be arrested. PA needs to crack down on animal abusers harder so that the sick animal owners that did this end up in jail, not her. I live in PA and if I saw this dog, I'd do the same thing.

Idiot! Where's your proof this dog was 19 years old...because the owners said he was? They also said he was not abused...the guy who gave him the dog testified he gave them Doogie between 1990-1993, which would make him 13 years old. An old dog needs help, and if your dog is sick and can't walk you take him to the damn vet in accordance with state law.

Doogie had 5 good months after this video was made. He gained weight, played on grass and took medications to help with the pain caused by being chained up for so long. He also knew people cared about him and hadn't been left to die in the drt on the end of a heavy chain.

The fact that this woman got arrested for trying to help this dog just shows where our laws need improving. If this was a child laying there noone would say to put it out of its misery and she sure as hell wouldnt be arrested. PA needs to crack down on animal abusers harder so that the sick animal owners that did this end up in jail, not her. I live in PA and if I saw this dog, I'd do the same thing.

I think you are heartless. The dog was begging for help,it wanted to live. If there was a way to save his life and make him stop hurting without killing him why wouldnt you even try that. Because dogs won't slit your throat, you don't know if a homeless person is crazy or not. alot of homeless people want to be in that situation, animals don't. They have no voice. With that attitude you are missing out on how wonderful a relationship can be with a dog. They are supposed to be gifts not trash to be thrown out. did u actually care to stop and ask the homeless person if he wanted to be homeless. I admit working in a psych unit some homeless wanted to be homeless but most of them do not. People should get more priority over animals. It is sad that you would help a dying dog but not a dying person how sad that must be for the homeless guy who just became less important because the dog needs help first.
I do care about animals but I do understand the line between animals and man... Do you?

Who said I wouldn't help a dying person, I have helped lots of homeless people by feeding them, but take someone home to where my children could be in danger. A majority of homeless people have mental problems. I don't have a problem helping people in need, my husbands a Chaplain in the Army, I think I understand human need better than you. We have soldiers coming home sick and wounded. Sounds like you sit around and judge people. I would never not stop to help anyone or anything.

For your info I am an Organic vegan, I try to eat healthy and meat is gross. and I feed my dogs Organic food also. If you read the bible it states which animals can be eaten (split hoof animals)and which cannot, I would think pets fall under that one. The main thing is people should try to be good to each other and have pitty on the creatures who can't defend themselves. It's called COMPASSION. Everyone will have to answer to what he or she does. Read the bible if you want to know whats right .

The owners should have been charged with animal neglect, abuse and sent to prison. What court would allow these abusers to remain free? I understand dogs are property and normally I'm against whacky animal people that don't like meat-eaters and stuff like that but I have zero tolerance for animal cruelty and blatant abuse like this. Thank you for saving that dog's life.. He was closing in on his last days sitting like that. I'm really sorry they ruled against you.. I have a few choice words for the family that did this!
