@cupster07 Surely you mean Marxist, no? Not only don't you know what the word means, you can't even spell it to look it up on Wikipedia... Ignorant fool.
(I declare myself socialist/Marxist, so I should know.)
Prior to Obama being elected, and during the period of election, the hype was unbelievable. From the way the news reported, it seemed as if Obama would single handedly end the war in Iraq, reform America and, hell, save the world period.
Of course, in retrospect, it's apparant that such goals are completely outrageous but if you actually spent some time understanding what Obama's goals were to begin with, then the expectations of him may not have been so high.
@newolowa but thats said with any president. the problem is that what we need is going to take more than even 8 years to correctly go into effect. what hes trying to do is start something that will helo us in the end. everyone thinks that the other guy would have saved us all. no president can
@russjcameo Really? Do vague blanket statements actually do anything? It does not promote open dialogue. What is it about him that you feel he's lying about?
@davethomas wow, you are right! that wasnt helpful at all! but i dont have time to talk to strangers about politics on the internet. maybe i will just never comment again. oh wait... yes i will. (on a side note: daveisthemusic is a great musician.)
this was really funny. it seems that songsmith works well with speeches with the exception of the words being out of beat. it sounds like obama is just talking/rapping, not actually singing, but songsmith sucks altogether with the fact that i like to create my own music.
No longer is music based on passion and an understanding of the science and theory of music, but merely a pre-programmed toy that will hopefully make talentless, impatient and lazy individuals feel purpose.
Songsmith is a sugar-injection taking us one step back towards muzak.
Research suggests that the modern 12-tone scale is based closely on the natural tones the human voice tunes to during speech. What this video shows is that Obama is very melodic and rhythmic in his speech. That's probably one thing that makes him a good speaker.
Actually, research (as well as fairly common musical knowledge) illustrates that the voice more closely follows just intonation or the overtone series.
Actually, this is not really *new* but it is nonetheless pretty cool. The smiley in the beginning also adds pretty much to the atmosphere... Wonder if that could have been optimised if one timeshifted (not cut!) the pauses to make the speech fit the beat more close, without making it a collage. And i would add fades and titles. DO IT! This rawx!
I hadn't thought that anything could be more tedious than an Obama speech, but I guess I was wrong. An Obama speech with computer-generated music is more tedious.
After the incomparable success of the Seinfeld/Gates Vista commercials, Microsoft has asked Barack Obama to star in their next mind-numbingly long commercial for Songsmith and he accepted!
Wow, Obama has quite a rhythm to his speeches. Perhaps this is why people are so captivated by them - they are compelled to stay in sync with him, much like with a musician.
He's fucking brilliant at rhetorics, and the fact that Songsmith is able to extract a rhythm and cadences from his speech is ample illustration. I want to be able to speak like this.
