i watched this movie 8 or 10 times. I love the music. But I love the idea expressed about mental illness. People with mental illness are stuck in a quandry, what ever has happened to make them ill never really ends- No where to go. It never ends. Great actress- great film.
P.S, I loved the movie as well. I felt the struggle and the pain she was dealing with, and she coped and died at her very best. Unless you experience the loss of a child, one can never understand the emotional demons that the movie depicted. She did a phenomenal job and I agree that the movie did not get the recognition that it should have.

I hated country, then went through a phase where I loved it---now on the fence, I have grown to appreciate all kinds of music. This moving was amazing, even those who don't like country should be able to appreciate it for all that it is.
This was such a sad movie, but Gwyneth really did a great job. I had no idea she could sing so well and her acting was great. Felt so bad for her character though, she really needed her husband and he only cared about himself.
Great song- all the music in the film was really well done. Its unfortunate it wasn't written better for the very talented cast. The cast was great but the scenes written for them weren't nearly as good as they could have been- there was a lot of backstory we didn't get. I was saddened because I love the cast and thought the initial idea would have been really really great.

While she loved her husband, there was a rift in between them that was growing bigger and bigger with each passing day. When the two are shown dancing in the classroom, they both realize that they can never fix what happen or erase the pain of losing their child.
@gentlemendestroy She kills herself in the end because 'love and fame can't exist in the same place'. Unfortunately Kelly chose fame, and after all the damage that had been done, there was no going back. Instead she gave her fans something good to remember by, and although the performance seems kind of cliched and Hollywood, Country Strong goes against it and has the main character commit suicide. Just because she put on a good show doesn't mean she fixed her problems inside.

Half of the revenue from this movie should go to Crazy Heart, cause it's an absolute rip off without any of the artisitic merit. If they were aiming for cliche they nailed it.

DVR'd for the wife. Ended up watching it alone. I was surprised that I liked it, way more than I expected. Teared up a few times. Great songs, great chemistry and a great cast.

The Moral of COUNTRY STRONG to all you rednecks out there, it's okay to relapse as long as your rehab nurse is handsome , willing to fuck you in the asshole even though you are a married woman, can sing, play guitar, and go on tour with you.
Then at the last tour date, you will give a dull drunken-free performance that shows your younger competition just 'how it's done'. Go to your room and commit suicide.

@IkilledColMustard Her reputation with Dallas was an awful one, so she put in a last performance that everyone would remember her by, instead of crashing and burning like her husband was pushing her to do. While she loved her husband, there was a rift in between them that was growing bigger and bigger with each passing day. When the two are shown dancing in the classroom, they both realize that they can never fix what happen or erase the pain of losing their child.

@gentlemendestroy She kills herself in the end because 'love and fame can't exist in the same place'. Unfortunately Kelly chose fame, and after all the damage that had been done, there was no going back. Instead she gave her fans something good to remember by, and although the performance seems kind of cliched and Hollywood, Country Strong goes against it and has the main character commit suicide. Just because she put on a good show doesn't mean she fixed her problems inside.
