@Monscent That would have been the musical matchup that led us to the stars. Forget Bill & Ted. If Lennon had married Kanno the human race would already be offplanet, rocking the fuck out in city-sized ships or some shit.
GOD! I wish I would be so lucky to actually see and hear this live! One of my favorite tracks! Especially when it goes into the SKA part, is sooooo cool!
Actually that tormbone solo kinda reminded me of the tormbone player in Mephiskapheles. Which is a good thing, to those who might hate Mephiskapheles. :(
@XDaishoX The seatbelts don't need to be directed they're too good for that. She can just let them unleash all sorts of awesomeness on us underserving fools.
Look up Seatbelts Cowboy Bebop Soundtrack Season 1 mediafire or megaupload and it should be on there. I have three of the soundtracks and they're all fantastic. Enjoy
Cheers m8 but i wasnt talking bout the osts(best anime osts ever)but about getting the live video to watch(the live (in audio) is included in the Cowboy Bebop boxset ost) im talking about the video of the concert...
Ska is based off jazz so actually this is Jazz not ska. Ska is a rock form of jazz but has so much rooted in jazz that even that's basically jazz. So yeah....this is jazz.
yep, i was wrong about the mexican traditional, although some of the newer ska has it's influences. but punk heavily influenced 2-tone and third wave ska, and jazz influenced the original ska from jamaica. Ska combined elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazz and rhythm and blues.
No, ska is the predecessor to reggae. Back in the 40's and 50's there were ska big bands in Jamaica that steadily turned into smaller groups as the big band era died. Then forming reggae. The British took this over during the 60's, 70', and 80's and created 2nd wave ska (The Specials, Madness, etc.). Then that moved over to America and became more and more rock based.
i don't recall saying ska was from reggae, unless you were correcting your comment in which you said it was an uptempo reggae beat. because technically, if anything, reggae is a down tempo ska beat.
pay a little closer attention to sentence structure next time. mine can be fairly complex, because i think differently than most people do.
Well ladifuckingda, aren't you special with your different thinking and complex sentence structure. A gold star for you.
I was correcting your first comment, the one that mentioned "Mexican traditional" as one of he roots of ska. I will admit that it was ambiguous and albeit, a tad late. I hadn't realized you had already corrected you mistake and so I apologize.
I was surprised to find this is essentially a variation on Tom Waits' "Midtown." More surprised it goes unmentioned. They cleaned it up and put a skanky(beat) finish on it.
Wouldn't YOU be, if you were at the pinpoint of this fabulous engine of music, listening to them shred steel with music YOU wrote? =D (I know I sure do when my group runs my music!--and they aren't half as good as The Seatbelts.)

ska is based off jazz, mexican traditional, and punk.
so yeah, not ska, still jazz.
damoser 3 years ago
Are you kidding? Ska has almost nothing to do with any of those. Its roots are completely in Jamaica; it's just an uptempo reggae beat with brass.

Search for "Good Cop Bad Cop Opening Titles."
It has the original tom waits song in it.
