  • I did this, and it ruined my Fender Mustang I amplifier. After i unplugged everything the speaker was not working.

  • @umbraguitarist Maybe you shouldn't have unplugged everything. No plugs, no power.

  • @umbraguitarist maybe you forgot to remove the adapter...

  • great shirt!!! I have it too, and I also like your Marshall Halfstack.

  • @theJudgementstrike Thanks man! I use that Marshall halfstack for recording just like this. I used it in my song called 'Jobless'. Check that out :)

  • Thanks, dude! You're a life saver! ;)

  • Hey I tried out this.. but with my guitar sound.. surrounding sound is also coming... how can I remove tht.. I just want only guitar sound ...

  • i like it until you insulted me ;,,,,,(

  • @bigboy1010101able nooooooooooo

  • @MetalJody1990 its k lol good job helped actually

  • what's the name of the song u used?

  • I used to connect My Guitar into the Pink Mic In on my onboard sound then plug my amp into the Green output With Guitar Cubase 6 and Guitar Rig 5 in the middle. It used to work fine on my Elite Group Motherboards onboard audio, But since i upgraded a couple of months ago to an ASUS Mobo when i do this now i get some mad squeeky data exchange sounds through the amp ? It's like you can hear the data being exchanged from the Hard Drive and when i move my mouse. Anyone know how to avoid this ?

  • @FilGee100 Maybe your mouse is actually alive and is making those squeaky data exchange sounds. Robot mice.... They happen sometimes.

  • dude how you did the drums?? if u did them in audacity

  • @nattheanswer24 Made the drums in Acoustica Beatcraft.

  • @MetalJody1990 u bought the program or downloaded? and how u pass the audio file to audacity?

  • When you have a good valve amp, you don't have any headphone line...

  • @julienpierb Use the output jack that connects to the cabinet. It won't be called 'headphones' obviously, but I use that output on a JCM 900 for Line In recording.

  • @MetalJody1990 Isn't it dangerous for either the Head or the computer, won't it fry the circuitry?

  • @julienpierb Not from my experience. I've tried it on 2 different computers and heads. No problems.

  • Someone please answer this, i've managed to connect my guitar to my comp and i have recorded some things with audicity but when i record along to an already recorded file it creates a delay and the other part falls behind even though i play in rythm. What is causing this and how can i fix it?

  • @marneuscalgar2126 Latency causes that. Your guitar recording is taking longer to record than the song that is being played along to. Three ways you can fix this: 1) Decrease the Number of Buffers, use a higher Bit Depth or higher Sample Rate. 2) Buy a better sound card. 3) Switch the Stereo Mix recording mode to Line In, record guitar along to the song file (this won't record the song file too), import the file and sync it up manually to your guitar recording.

  • What if i dont have a headphone output on my amp?

  • @metalheadude6 then your amp sucks

  • I followed and am capable of going through all of the steps, but I just can't find my amp!

  • @knoxled findmyamp(dot)com

  • I can hear sound coming out of my speakers but when i push record there is nothing being recorded.

  • lol... find your amp

  • What's the name of the cable type you need for the actual bridging the amp to computer? I have an adapter from the quarter-inch cable jack to regular headphones-jack.

  • @herpderpmonkey When you say regular headphones-jack, do you mean one-eighth inch?

  • Oh...Just did the line in, and it worked.. My computer is on digidrugs, it never worked in the line in when I tried before -_________-

  • @MikeLhaiBOTN it was probably muted last time.

  • QUESTIONNNN!! I hooked my amp to the computer, and It picked up on the computer (I know because my screen was flickering) but it wouldn't pick up in audacity, It has worked before, and I've recorded stuff, but it wont work now...Anybody have an answer??

I usually use the Realtek audio manager, and it's plugged into the pink mic jack in the back of the computer.

  • @aliwade blaah! your amp did you a favor.

  • @aliwade what is your amp and laptop model?

  • does it matter what kinda 1/8 cable i need? or just it need to be a 1/8 cable i have this green 1/8 and still looking around for another one im not sure if that would work or not? help?

  • @nomenanook If it looks like the picture in the description, then you're good to go.

  • Is it possible to use your amp cord straight from you acoustic and then just have the adaptor on the PC end?

  • @Rossco139 Yes, but you'll need a different adapter: 1/4" to 1/8"

  • @MetalJody1990 I have an adaptor that came with a set of headphones. It's the 1/8 to 1/4. Can I plug that into my guitar and then use a cable to the line in?

  • @Rossco139 Yes.

  • @MetalJody1990 awesome, thank you so much!

  • This is exactly how to show how to do this stuff.

    Thanks

  • Thankyou for this video.

Can you tell me what that cable is called which u run from the amp into the pc?

I have just started playing and am sort of still new to this :D

  • @Desolation72724 It's called by its jack measurements. One-eighth inch on both ends.

  • I love you (no homo)

  • hey dude thank you so much, I've been trying to do this for ages, and while I must have been very close to getting it, this video helped me go all the way and also helped me discover audacity I didn't know the program but I think its sick, and you are pretty awesome too for putting this video up, THANKS DUDE

  • @Mundimon You are very welcome. I'm glad it all went well. For an even sicker program, get Mixcraft 5. Try the 7-day trail, watch a few tutorial videos from their site, and you'll be making sick music in no time.

  • would it still work if I did it the other way around? if I had a 1/4 connected to the amp and a 1/8 adapter connected to the computer?

  • @13MCRmy Bit late maybe, but yep, it would work. That's what I do :) Gives a better sound quality as I can use a length of thicker, shielded guitar cable rather than the standard thin stuff that comes with a PC

  • do you need to connect a cord to the pedal?

  • I want to connect my laptop to my amp so I can play my backing tracks through it. The amp has an mp3 connector. Anyone know what cable to use?

  • Hey guys, I got this working but I was just wondering how I hear myself recording through headphones? Thanks.

  • i cant change anything of the bar, plz help

  • @dhartz182 how does it look? grey colored?

  • @MetalJody1990 yep, what should i do, i use windows XP

  • @dhartz182 download and install the latest audio drivers for your sound card. Realtek and VIA are common driver providers. one of them should do.

  • @MetalJody1990 Hey there, I got this working finally, Thanks a lot. I was just wondering how to hear myself recording through headphones?? Thanks.

  • I dont have line in on my computer, ive got a seperate guitar to USB dongle. Ive tried running my guitar through the marshall into the USB thing and it didnt work, however on the back of the amp there is "Emulated DI OUT", could i plug a amp lead into this "DI OUT" and into my USB guitar dongle?

  • @MaidenFan24568 It probably wont work. DI OUT is used to connect an amp to a mixer board. Give it a try if you want.

  • wats an amp?

  • @GuitarHockeyLife

    lolwut?

  • my amp has an output which says "CD/MP3" and has a 1/8" input... can i use this output?

  • @OaWaScHlKaKtUs i really don't have a clue.

  • @MetalJody1990 also my amp has no headphone input... :P or at least no input that says headphones...

  • @OaWaScHlKaKtUs No, it's an input only...

  • @CptK96 i know now because i found the description again...

  • I like the song.

  • on pc , can i use the mic-input to?

  • Now I can record but i have to turn down the gain and volume down to 1 on my amp, otherwise it clips. Is there a way to adjust a limiter or something on audacity to prevent clipping.

  • thanks bro

  • Its not letting me record, it say's " check input device and project sample rates. What do i do?

  • @CKS5000 Change the input device to Line In and choose a smaller sample rate.

  • Comment removed

  • can i do the same thing on fruity loops

  • @CKS5000 I guess

  • is head phone just same as Phone? my Amp doesn't have head phone instead Phone..

  • Could you tell me how you did it in Windows 7? If it doesnt work I'm fine, but I would like to give it a shot.

    Thanks

  • @aaroncubing Saying in a comment won't be enough. I'll try to make a video showing how. It may or may not be helpful to everyone.

  • I tried to Find the Other End of the Cable and I got Lost... Thanks.

  • @mycrickethighlights2 Anytime, guy

  • sorry you've already helped me before and eevery thing workedd properly but the sound quality that comes from the speakers really sucks when iam on clean it has distiortion in it and the recording quality is really bad do u know if the problem is in my speakers or in my pc

    ?

  • @SuperSherbo clean should not have distortion. i guess your Line In volume is set too high, that clips the maximum volume your pc can handle. lower it a bit.

  • I have a question,...

i can`t hear anything from the amp and the pc,...

    should i connect something,..?

  • @birth2end what all have you done?

  • cool track dude,...

  • @metaljody1990 thanks a bunch man it worked

  • @SuperSherbo sweet! you're welcome

  • @metaljody1990 there as no line in volume just Sw Synth and CD volume and wave and master volume and i have em all up

  • @SuperSherbo go to Properties and put a check in the Line In box.

  • @metaljody1990 windows xp

  • @SuperSherbo did you check the Line In volume? (step 8)

  • when i connect amp to pc i cant hear the sound from the amp nor from the pc speakers and when i open audacity the bar is grey please help me what shall i do?

  • @SuperSherbo what's your pc operating system?

  • Comment removed

  • Why export as WAV??????

  • what if you dont havfe a line in on your lap top.. is there still a way to do this?

  • @TheMetalmelissa microphone input.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

  • I think I need more cables.

  • i can't find my amp, please help

  • @deadlydare xd

  • i dont get it.. i'm a idiot:p

  • no line in so i plugged it into mic and sti;l get no sound wtf someone help?

  • @rastamanluvsmj Likewise doesn't seem to work for me... I have my acoustic plugged into my amp then my amp plugged in using another thick cable with an adapter to microphone. I get nothing.

  • does this work for fruity loops to?

  • @wiesemann Idk

  • stuck at step 2...

  • I can't find the tab in step 9. the one in audacity. im using audacity beta unicode 1.3

  • @akromaakromaakroma I think it's been moved to the Preferences bar under the Edit tab. That's where you choose the input device (line in, mic)

  • Found my Amp...

  • does this also work or sound good for a bass amp

  • @ATLxBRAWLER yep

  • without pedal you can't do anything no? Because I have connect the amp to computer and the guitar to amp and the guitar was silent, I mean without of voice... sory for a little bad english :)

  • @CandyMax7 pedals don't matter. check the volume levels on the computer and amp.

  • This method has worked great but every time i go to record a second track doesn't record anything. Can you tell me why?

  • @tamanjo1 I dont know why. I never multitrack in Audacity. Just record single tracks and edit in something else.

  • I've done exactly as you said but in my Audacity the bar where you can choose "stereo mix", It's grey for my so i can't click there. You know why?

  • @midnightdildo I think it's old audio driver you have.

  • @midnightdildo i am experiencing the same problema

  • ive done everything on the video and its worked but there is to much bass when im recording and ive tried changing my amp settings but it is not working?

  • @connaire141 use a software equalizer to lower bass.

  • @MetalJody1990 thanks

  • DAMN SON! Brilliant I like that quality, and I wanna be hearing that on the recording I'm about to do so here's the question. I have a 120 watt line 6 spider 3 amp. If I did the line in thing, do you think it would work with cubase 5?

  • @JakkaLakkaDingDing No doubt! I use a 100w Jcm 900 marshall amp and record with mixcraft 4, so you should be fine.

  • @MetalJody1990 Fantastic! :DDD

Now to record an 8 minute epic!

  • perfec tuto !! so helpful for me, thx a lot jody !

  • nice video man..

where did you get your drum beats and did you record it??

    can u please teach me??tnx :)

  • hehe love ur vid dude !!! but i did tht and my guitar didnt make tht kinda big good quality maybe cuz i use a dis.pedal ?!?!? and my pick sound is INCLUDED in every solo i play only 4 99.9 $ help please ?!?!?!?!?!!? and if it wont bather u i have a digitech df-7 distortion factory , dis.pedal how should i set it so it wont sound noisy ?!?!?!!? thnx alot BTW ur funny xD

  • @MrxXADXx =) If your pick sound is included then you probably have a mic nearby. you will have to find a good configuration with your pedals since i've never used them, let alone seen them. if it's too much trouble, just buy yourself a Line 6 USB audio interface. there's a couple ways to stop the bad noise. 1) lower the treble on your pedal, 2) go in the equalizer and lower the sliders that have high frequencies (usually on the right side). that will help alot with white noise.

  • @MetalJody1990 yeah thnx man but the pick problem is tht when i play a note theres a clicking sound u know when u hit a note with a finger its different with a pick theres some songs if u know santana some of his solos theres a clicking or picking sound so my question is is it my playing ?!?!?!?! i tried alot of picks its the same i tried to record the solo of afterlife by avenged sevenfold if u know em anyway the sound is cool but theres a picking sound so please help

  • @MrxXADXx did you try turning the pick slightly at an angle?

  • @MrxXADXx i have the same problem, but watching over and over again , i've noticed that the adapter plugged into the headphones are stereo-stereo, and the cables also are stereo, the chain order is: First 1/4" stereo-1/8"stereo adapter, 1/8"stero-1/8"stereo cable, and finally the PC. I guess you were using a chain like: 1/4"mono-1/4"mono cable, and 1/4"mono-1/8"mono adapter and the PC. I had that chain (last one) and the sound is very low and too noysi. The right chain is the first i wrote.

  • @BTL400(this a short answer) i had the same problem, but searching out, i found that the answer is:

"you just need a stereo cable (2 rings on each end) and a standard 1/4" stereo to 1/8" stereo adapter"

first, plug the standard 1/4" stereo to 1/8" stereo adapter, then plug the stereo cable into the adapter and finally into the pc "line in" port (for best quality) or "microphone port". if you have a mono adapter will sound too low and only the left speaker.

  • great vid bro.. \m/

  • thanks very much!!!!!!1

  • I heard that if you plug youre guitar into the microphone jack you will blow youre sound card or something bad like that, would it be better to just buy an interface?

  • @thedaviddance No way that can happen. An interface is better though.

  • why the combo box is all grey and i cant use it !? i'm on xp

  • Would it be possible to use the 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch adapter, and just plug it into the microphone jack in your laptop?

  • @Wolta the adapter only goes to the amp.

  • I don't know why , but it sounds terribly... Can I do anything to have better quality???

  • OMG I HAVE THE SAME GUITAR !!! THUMBS UP IFF YOUU HAVE THIS GUITAR TOO !! :D

  • nice t-shirt !!! BODOM rocks !!!!!!! nice song by the way

  • @antonisgkikas Hell yeah!!!! Thanks

  • @MetalJody1990 is there a way to put the audio on a CD? im really new to recording anything at all

  • @Phailure365 sure.

  • @Phailure365

click on file in audacity and click export as mp3.... send to windows media player and then burn now playing list.

  • lol step 2: find your amp

  • have you used audacity to record this song?

  • @LIFEforPIANO yes

  • Re ! I'm sorry but it's not working too ! I have juste a guitar rig 4 sound card , for the line in =/ Help

  • @XFrozenmetal Umm, what?

  • can you connect a microphone also as the same?

    plz reply

  • @julienthebig surely you can.

  • @MetalJody1990 yes thank you =)

  • can i use normal effect box instead of line 6 POD?

  • I cant get in audio city the pop down menu saying stereo mix or line in or some thing i only get microphone, wave out mix and cd audio? help

  • @randomDizy You on a laptop?

  • @MetalJody1990

ya.. can you still do that or do you need a computer?

  • @randomDizy you can if you use microphone, but that will sound worse than a desktop computer.

  • Regarding the Line6 PODs costing a fortune, I just bought a used POD 2.0 on ebay for 65 bucks. It doesn't have as many effects as the PODXT but it does the job. Things are built like tanks too so even if you get one that's taken some abuse it's OK.

  • When I connect amp with computer sound is so bad that it hurts!Too loud and too fucked up.Anybody have a solution?Sorry on my english...

  • Hey, dude. Remember back when I said that this worked for me, but I couldn't get any distortion? I recently came up with the idea of trying this out with my Rockman Soloist instead of my amplifier. And it worked! Well, sort of. While I am getting some distortion finally, the guitar is coming in EXTREMELY low (I have to jack up the "amplify" setting in Audacity to 24.0 to be able to hear it) and I even turned both the "Line-In" volume control and input level in Audacity all the way up. NO DICE

  • @greatexpectat1ons320 Is the Rockman Soloist volume all the way up?

  • @MetalJody1990

Yessir, it is and I still have to jack up the Audacity amplification all the way up to be able to hear it. You see the inconsistency?

  • @greatexpectat1ons320 There's probably tons of ground noise, huh? If this way to record isn't working out for you, find a Line6 POD. They should be less complicated.

  • @MetalJody1990

A Line6 POD would be highly convenient, but they cost a damn fortune. I would really like to learn how to record my guitar this way.

  • @greatexpectat1ons320 Then use something other than a Rockman Soloist. Some PODs don't cost a fortune. Though a Zoom G2 is more affordable. I've seen some for $80, and a Zoom G2.1U for $140. They put out good sound.

  • @MetalJody1990

    I'll look into that.

  • i tried it alot and it sounds LIke Shit farts :S

in clean channel its good, and when i record it sounds as if its a mix of clean and distortion..

    in overdrive channel it sucks

    any ideas ?
