@amaliatox No it isn't. 1968 Beetles didn't have flow through ventilation, larger round tail lights, shock absorbing bumpers front and back, full lense turn signals in front, all the vents on the engine lid, the 1600 engine. Plus the interior is completely different.
I got a green 1974 VW Super Beetle. It is a manual, and I having trouble learning the clutch. I was thinking about converting it to autostick. Is it worth the money?
@crazydude28 nope, i got an orange 71 super beetle, it had an autostick on it, after about a month of driving it daily i couldnt handle it, so i converted it to manual.
hence why i now also own a bitza bug, 1974, standard beetle front end, rest is a mish mash of 1302 and 1303 parts. apparently they were running out of parts in australia at the time.
@humanparody12 but here in aus they had a factory that closed down and now makes holdens. so production wasnt all that massive here but there are still a few about.
@humanparody12 Yes, the Beetles were produced in Brazil from 1959 until 1986 and returned to be produced seven years after in 1993 and closing once his production in 1996
When you park an Autostick on a hill, do you leave it in neutral, or put it into Reverse (facing downhill) or First/Low (facing uphill), like in a normal manual transmission car?
I have a yellow '71 bug I've driven for many, many years. Recently had a chance to buy a long-lusted-for Miata red convertible, but in the end I could not give up my bug. The thought of anyone else driving it made me upset.
I have a yellow 71 autostick. bought it almost a year ago and I have been trying to get it a little more road worthy. its just about ready now. i cant wait.
I really like the video. Noah and Whales 5 year later is a great tune..that other person was right, it gets stuck in your head...sun, sun, sun... My first VW was yellow.... drive on !
My 71 autostick expresses appreciation. Don't know why they are the Rodney Dangerfield of Bugs. Granted at times I miss my standard shift, but the autostick is what it is, just as reliable but "different". Been driving mine to work and back for 3 years now. Any other cars as reliable after 38 years on the road??
Nice to see someone else who likes the AutoStick Bugs which get no respect. I had o ne around 1990-91 and it was a blast to drive, and by the way the autostick parts are pretty foolproof despite their reputation.
I am from Croatia, Europe. I ve got an vw bug 1970 1500 autostick the only one in Croatia so it s really hard to find parts...I will put a video on youtube so you can see it ...

It doesn't take too long to learn how to drive and once you learn how it's awesome.

After 1980 (I'm not 100% on this) but the Beetles were only produced in Brazil and surrounding areas.

@msmithstud my beetle has the stick shift and the air cond unit WAS there but sadly has been pulled :(
pedekiller 1 year ago
@pedekiller did somebody steal the a/c unit?
msmithstud 1 year ago
@msmithstud yeah looks like it.
the pully and air cond mount (on the genny stand) is still there. oh well...not like it gets hot here down the bottom of the world ;)
