  • Na fuaimeanna a leánn mo chroí agus déanann dom leanbh arís.

  • I'm not Irish: Nigerian Brit. Intro. to Planxty@Uni by Irish bodrahn-playing friend. Never gotten over the powerful beauty of this music. A flute player, I somewhat learned to play some jigs, but noone gets the scary-breathless energy & soul stirring pathos of O'Flynn's uileann pipes/flute. What a player, instrument,&sound. Never seen a virtuoso with such calm control of their instrument. From any culture, if not moved by this music: no thing as a soul. Beyond wonderful

  • I feel that the Uillean n Pipes are a soul stirring instrument. There's just something about them that get me right down to the blood; like it's in my blood. Thank you for posting this; it's a perfect example of how I feel.

  • i think thats the heaviest thing i ever heard

  • The Uilleann Pipes are for me one of those instruments that for me are next to sacred. Perhaps it isn't right to even suggest that yet, I have no other way to explain why they touch me so deeply. These are played more beautifully than I have ever heard by one fine master upon them, Mr. Liam O'Flynn. Thank you most sincerely dear Liam. ~ Maricet~

  • AWESOME!

  • Amazing playing. But Christie Moore really freaks me out.

  • Simply the best there is.

  • timeless

  • incredibly moving

  • I'm fourth generation Irish/Scottish Australian. When I first heard this, I literally broke down in tears. Thank you Liam.

  • @AlternateTunerDotCom Likewise about those tears.

(Excuse me, I must find a tissue!)

The way Liam bends those notes - oh WOW!!!

    (Sniff-sniff!)

  • @AlternateTunerDotCom brings me back to a place ive never been

  • So haunting how can you not love this?

  • The Uilleann pipes is the only musical instrument that is capable of touching the human soul

  • @Holm182 I would agree if not for the fiddle. If you can listen to Jonny Hardie for example without feeling the touch and hearing the voice then you're a man of stone (Old Blind Dogs' original fiddler - a genius)

Maybe the touch is in the player, not the instrument; and it is rare.

  • When you can see that other exceptional traditional Irish musicians are rivetted, you know that you have a special performance. So much emotion. Awesome!

  • He is a master for sure. Want more of his playing... So relaxing

  • Nobody better!!

  • The Master!!

  • I'd never really realised how much of a genius Liam is before I heard this (live at Vicar Street 2004). Amazing!

  • The MAESTRO enthralling as ever. The emotion on Christy and Donal's faces says it all. Magnificent.

  • Absolutely breath-taking. Go híontach....

  • If there's an answer to that i just haven't heard it. The great man at his best.

  • What a mighty player!
