  • Cover?? He WROTE this song.... geez...

  • Great song, great talent, great performance.

  • This song makes me tear up every time I hear it. I can't quite decide if it is because of Marc Cohn's fabulous voice, the lyrics, the tune, or how so heartfelt it feels. Probably all of the above.

  • This song reminds me how fucked up the music industry really is, like lil wayne, are you fuckin kiddin me

  • When he said W.C. Handy the crowd should have gone nuts.

  • @18Geebee William christopher handy?,

  • I was actually walkin in Memphis when this was popular, walkin on Beale. Great time, great song. Thank you Marc.

  • It nice to hear a singer live that actually sounds the same as the recording of the song. There is way too much digital editing in music especially for those young singers.

  • it doesnt matter if hes not as famous as some other artists. he has something they dont. passion and talent. we know it. they know it. we are truly blessed by his amazing work. god bless music.

  • why was he not a huge star?

it's sad when such raw, amazing talent gets overlooked.

  • It sure is great to hear a musician who cares about their performance and delivering something great to the audience!

  • Ace, I remeber Walkin' in Memphis coming out, it wass love at first hearing, I have got the original record and still get the same buzz hering it as I did in 1986. This year I followed in Marc's foosteps I walked in Memphis. Watch out for the po.ems

  • I'll carry Memphis close to my heart forever! You step out into her and she is electric!

  • transend my age 1992 2011

  • The first time I saw Marc perform this song he had hair. That was around 1995. At least he still has his voice!

  • go grizz....go soul....go blues city

  • GRIZZ-NATION!

  • 24 people have been overrun in Memphis...

  • im 10 and sac justin bieber and all of that CRAP this is PROPER music

  • Bow down these vocals are incredible!

  • Freakin' amazin'....

  • He lost his career and his hair.

  • @46spoony he never lost his career. he's still amazing as a songwriter to other songs!!

  • @Quam77

  • Thanks Marc for such a great song...I played and sang this to support a church youth fund raiser and it was well received by young and old alike. Many told me that this was one of their all-time favorite songs. I emulated the live version..wasn't Marc but I think I was able to do it justice...

  • This song never gets old has to be one of the top songs out there

  • I listen to Rock and Roll, heavy metal, and sometimes even Dubstep, but i always come back to this song if I want something good

  • I love Memphis

  • If you love this song and have a bit of free time please search...

'Walking in memphis - Cher / Marc Cohn (cover by Stephanie Snook)'

its a cover i did recently and would love some feedback - THANKYOU x

  • One of the best songs ever

  • @536767676533766 i totally agree

  • hope that cocksucker that shot him is burning in HELL...

  • @haller1929 what are you talking about?? Mark Conhn is still living.

  • @techieleader1 Didn't say he died - just said he was shot in the head but recovered

  • Hard to believe this song is almost 20 years old and they still play it on the radio...it still stands...

  • If you love this song please search this caption..

'Walking in memphis - Cher / Marc Cohn (cover by Stephanie Snook)'

its a cover i did recently and would love some feedback - THANKYOU x

  • bravo maestro!

  • Thanks for this version, i play it in my car, i am inspired and just did my own acoustic version because of this video, cheers and thx:)

  • i travelled from the UK to see Marc. I'd have paid 3 times over, his band. his personality are so much greater than this record. Shayne and the lads had so much time for us. Then I met my hero of 20 years - Marc - just a true gent. I will never forget that night!

  • Now this is real ... AMAZING

  • I am stunned, nowadays people sound live absolutely nothing like their recordings or music videos, but this man after 16 years still sounds just as phenomenal live as he did on the original recording, Mark Cohn is AMAZING

  • @TDoBaF That's because no "singers" actually sing anymore lol, they just use computers to sound good

  • @TDoBaF adele..

  • @TDoBaF , That's how you tell the talented ones from the fakes like Britney Spears. At the height of her career, everyone in the know knew that Diana Ross sounded ten times better live than on her records, that's one of the reasons her career has lasted so long. She sounds ok now, but her voice doesn't have that fluidity and resonance many are used to, and it sounds very weathered

  • two words: goose bumps!

  • One of the greatest songwriters of all time. Saw him last month in Florida. Incredible.

  • beautiful song...but its something about the piano chords...they are almost intoxicating. i close my eyes & just focus on what he's playing & become lost in the music.

  • @afoolnluv35 you are so right, its all about the feeling of the song... it makes my heart weak...

  • DAMN, Great song, one of my favorites !! Never get tired of hearing it. Thanks for posting.

  • The original is great but I gotta say Eli Mattson's cover of this song is by far the best version ever.

  • Just nasty good! Wow! Wow! For me, If my head is shakin' no!!!, I'm saying "MMM. MMM. MMM! And I look like I just smelled a block of "very" old cheese, that means the music is good! Well, Marc just delivered up a truck load of Limburger Cheese tonight, baby!!!!! Yes!

  • Marc is For Real

  • AMAZINGLY EXCELLENT

i so wanted to sing this song in front of everyone because its an awesome song

  • What a legend...

  • Am I a Marc Cohn Fan?

    Ma'am I am tonight.

  • Damn Marc is the Daddy..I love the blues and He has it down...

    Keep on Truckin Marc..just beautiful

  • A great song when done as on the recording. A live performance tends to lend itself to too many "riffs" and "add on's" ,that does nothing to make it better. Sing it like you recorded it, that's what people want to hear...that's what made it popular.

  • Thanks for capturing this performance!

  • One of my favourite songs ever.

  • great performance of this song! I like his little shpeel at the beginning about releasing records to promote shows. =) the times they are a-changin'

  • I love this song!! His voice has changed since this song first came out, But he still is amazinng!

  • AMAZING...love the song and the voice!

  • "Now we're putting out records to promote our shows." Love it.

  • watch Jeremy Greenbaum's version of Walkin in Memphis... it's soooooo good!

  • i heard that too - i think kevin rowe is supporting this years tour --- or at least some of it. kevin and marc absolutely rock :)

  • He just posted this to his Facebook page today - (a new post for the first time in a year):

"I just finished and mastered my new album produced by my dear friend John Levanthal. I'm calling it "Listening Booth: 1970.""

Can't wait to get that new CD, and hopefully he'll be touring again to promote it..

Saw him in an amazing show in San Francisco Fall 09..

    So cool..

  • *****, St. Patric's Day , 2010

  • Still sounding GREAT!

  • I remember when they first released this back in the early nineties. I just didn't hear it enough on the radio, and I really had no idea who sang it. The bad old days before most of us had internet access!

  • so It WAS from the 90s. When I heard it then I wasnt sure if it was a cover as it sounded like a classic..

  • just..............legend

  • The purest of music is timeless and beautiful, and sometimes hard to take.

When I listen to this it fills me and I cant listen to anything else until I need the next one. Then Ray Charles or SRV will do just fine

  • Great cover of a Lonestar song...

    KIDDING

:P I bet that got some of y'all ready to start cursing me down

Kevin Rowe is like one of my favourite all time artists!

  • @DrumSurfman08

this is a cia mind control , human programing tool

  • Can anyone please tell me what songs also have the piano bit he keeps repeating in it? (I vaguely remember another song having similar notes in it)

  • that is pretty random but yeah ;p

  • @1dantown omfg.... where the hell did this come from? lol
