@SOLE2SOUL That IS odd, but also a lot of people weren't GLUED to the television set (and - gasp - they didn't watch it during dinner, families all sitting in a row). Maybe they pulled chairs up for normal watching and Patty's lying on the floor was supposed to look 'teenage', like some of the bizarre 'slang' she spoke which I've never heard ANYWHERE except on this show...
This scene was in early Nick at Nite showings. In the first 2 runs they only cut a minute out of the shows. Later showings cut them down to 22 minutes. My Patty Duke NIN tape of this episode has this scene. But all that is moot now because the first season of The Patty Duke Show comes to DVD this week and they are all uncut there.
Well, this is not a deleted scene, but one that "Nick and Nite" cut for more commercial time. I have a 16mm film print of this episode and it is intact. "Nick at Nite" cut over 3 minutes out of each episode which usually were the epilog or prolog of each episode. Thanks for posting this, though! I have not yet converted my print of this classic episode! Also cut from this episode on "Nick at Nite" was an extended conversation between Mr. Snells and the President of his company at the school!

I'm wondering why the Lanes had no furniture in front of their television. Patty has to lay on the floor to watch it!

Nick at Nite's "editing" has been the bane of my existence! :) If only they would release The Patty Duke Show on DVD once and for all.
