im not sure why mustangs are so terrible in snow. i love them, but ive had a nova for a daily driver for years and recently an 89 firebird and both do fine :/
@RicerEater1978 I moved my 90 mustang 5.0 3 feet down my driveway and it took me 5 hours to get it into the street to floor it and slide up my driveway
drove one a winter normal, second winter sandbags, 3rd winter snowtires, whatever you do it comes down to driver skill and not being an idiot, minnesota winters by the way ;) never stuck
I live in Wisconsin and Drive a Mustang and have no problems. we got 19 inches of snow yesterday.. People with four-wheel drive were getting stuck yesterday. I just zoomed on by. People just have no idea how to drive in the snow...
@itscashednigga im pretty sure he has an automatic. and if you only knew how horrible these cars are in the snow you'd understand he's only using his brakes to try and get himself out of it, dumbass
Put it in 4th, and ease off the clutch reaaaally slowly at about 2k RPMs. Plus, how did you even get yourself in that situation? If you still have the car, I'll buy it from you... so I can drive it in the snow. :)
BY THE WAY WHEN YOUR E BRAKE IS ON THE REAR TIRES CANT SPIN CAUSE THERE LOCKED UP. YOU HAVE TO BE DROPPED AT BIRTH.... REAL HARD..... TO NOT GET THAT.!!!
Awww, been there. It sucks. This past winter, the back wheels came to rest in between a couple ice mounds at a traffic light in front of walmart. I had to put on my emergency lights and get people to go around me. It took about ten minutes of rocking the car going forward and reverse before I got unstuck. That was pretty embarassing. I really have to remember to get some snow tires for my car this year. Or better yet, just buy a piece of crap to drive around in the snow and ice.
if you insist on driving a mustang in the snow.. at least get a set of cheap snow tires mounted on some ugly ass rims to bolt on for the winter... then throw 4 80lb sand bags in the trunk and let er rip!
man this is getting old and annoying.........I WAS THE GUY WITH THE CAMERA. I WAS THERE. THOSE ARE NOTBRAKE LIGHTS. WHEN YOU TURN ON THE LIGHTS ON A CAR THE TAILLIGHTS TURN ON TOO NOT ONLY THE HEADLIGHTS. GET A CAR AND YOU WILL FIGURE THAT OUT. IT TOOK FOUR GUYS TO PUSH IT OUT BY THE WAY. THE SNOW WAS ALMOST LIKE ICE{ SLIPPERY AND HARD}
i know how that feels, my 2000 v6 with summer tires couldnt get up my drive with just 1 inch of packed snow, had to go from the street and just floored it. lol
i wasnt pressing the brakes, this is a manual and if you stand in one place like that you need to control the clutch. my right leg was on the gas and left one was on the clutch. i dont get why people think that i was holding the brakes, why would i hold the brakes???????????
all i have to say is ( GET A MUSTANG GT OR COBRA AND TRY TO DRIVE IT THIS KINDA SNOW. WITH 28% TREAD LEFT ON THE TIRES) POST THAT VIDEO ON YOUTUBE AND ILL BE SURE TO COMMENT ON HOW YOUR HOLDING THE BRAKES AND AT THE SAME TIME TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE SNOW.
probably just poor choice of tires doesn't look like all weather tires I had no problems with driving my 5.0 to work rain snow or shine and I live in southern pa where it snows lots
You are a dumbass, the emergency brake locks the rear wheels. you can see the front wheels moving back and forth. i was there when he got stuck, i was the one who pushed him out. me and 3 more guys. if you really wanna know how a mustang handles pressed snow, buy one and try it out.
They only get stuck if u dont have sandbags in the back and if you dont have snowtires on it.have a v6 1999 the first snow made me get snowtires, this season i had my summer tires/rims still on my stang when it snowed. i couldnt get up the driveway to change my tires in the garage and i have 315/17/35 backtires so theres ALOT of
tire.finally got into the garage and changed rims/tires to my winter ones after that my car handles great in snow or ice. My advice: SNOW TIRES ARE THE BEST INVESTMENT
o i had 3 - 60 pound sand bags in the back and still got stuck. having the extra weight will help hold traction longer and make it harder to break traction but once u break traction with a heavier back end then it swings out more and is harder to regain back. that and when i got drifting i take them out cuz they make me more likely to spin out when holding a drift cuz the extra weight means more inertia (harder to stop)
cameraguy52, THANK YOU, good to know someone else has some common sense about Mustangs out there. I've had to explain the concept of snow tires to these morons a thousand times. I'm a previous owner of a '94 GT, planning on buying a '08 GT here shortly. Sure. Mustangs are far from an ideal winter car, but they can get you from point A to point B just fine if you take it slow and know how to handle the car properly!
Your right snow tires are the best but in some places sandbags are illegal but it's a good way to had traction and I'm driving a civic which means I'm FWD and the weight of engine is more then enough but doesn't handle as well as a RWD or AWD.
Its all in the tires everyone. I have general altimax artic snow tires on my gt and have not got stuck once

not having posi-lock makes it harder to get out when ur stuck
