I was wondering, Do you use any Irish Moss in your brewing?? Its supposed to help with refining and clarity. Its supposed to help proteins fall off during the fermentation. I liked your vid on how to build on the cheap! Good vid!! Keep it up!!.. I grow hops, and use them in my brews, maybe that would be something for you to look into?? Just a thought..
@alteregoaxeman Great observation. I will use irish moss mostly if the recipe calls for it. You can definitely tell the difference after the cold-break when you see all the proteins in the brewpot. It does help with clarity of the finished product, as well. I have actually used locally grown hops that I harvested in another one of my vids, check it out!
cool man, i've been brewing for about 2 years now, always all grain and i want to build a stand like yours. I just dont use a cooler like that, we use a big pan to make the wort. Do you get a good eficiency with that method?
little and usefull tip: you can buy a secondary chiller like that copper one and put it into ice, so the water from the garden hose gets even colder before hitting the main chiller. its very effective.
@pabloar Thanks for the comment! A secondary chiller is very effective. I am finding that I can go from boiling to a pitchable 75 degrees w/in about 20 mis so I have chose to keep the setup a little simpler.
@5stringfrolic As for efficiency, I run about 70-75% which I think is good enough for this type of setup. Plus, sparging is way-easy. A converted keg mash-tun is in my future, but I will have to consider changing my whole set up.
One other person mentioned that they had a hard time with the audio. I'm not sure what the issue is because when I watch it I can hear it fine all the way thru. Sorry.
