The demo sounds much more...deadly and morbid, I suppose. But I love it, almost more than the album version. ALMOST.

Umm...I never said that "THIS" was pop...I said that they later became more pop sounding. "THIS" recording that we're listening to right now is absolutely brilliant Gothic Metal as Gothic Metal should be! I love this recording, this to me is the REAL Within Temptation!

One my favorites demo versions....this cassette is excelent, and very rare today as Voyage cds (the ancient name of Within Temptation) but i like this song.

Yes they sound very young but its and the version of Enter album is very great.

They try a new style and system of folk and metal on every cd intentionally an artist that doesnt try new things is dead to their art.

Well...it might not be pop to you, but to me when compared to their old stuff their newer stuff is totally commercial sounding and I just can't get into that. Same problem with Nightwish, but that's another story.

@skullvomit666 And commercial is not about style it's about making your music a certain way to appeal to the masses. They want to explore styles I applaud those who try to continue to explore themselves.

Personally I think everything they have done has been brilliant my favorite being enter, by why begrudge artists a chance to advance themselves?

Yeah, but to me when a band changes their style intentionally to sound less Metal to appeal to the masses, that to me is selling out. That is against everything Metal stands for, maybe that's an old fashioned way of thinking but it's the Metal ethic that I grew up with and still believe in. I'm glad that you still like their newer stuff, but those newer albums do nothing for me. I get no magical feelings from them at all, but I'll always love the early stuff.

@skullvomit666 they aren't less metal though, they are less gothic metal. I grew in a deep culture of literature and headbanging it serves me well.And if they changed TO appeal to the masses it is selling out however if you adapt your style as you go on it's a part of the growth process.

I hate when people are called sellouts without real proof people change as they get older often nothing meant by it.

Metal is more then headbanging it's a culture a style and yes ballads as well as headbanging.
