  • WOW!

    what a superb melody!

Thank you so much for sharing this!

  • faruge67 is correct, this tune is called the Odyssey, written by David Hirschfelder whilst with Pyramid.

Please search for the youtube video:

"The Odyssey-Pyramid 1983 Montreux Jazz Festival"

  • Pyramid backing track.......What an awesome fusion band they were...

  • join my band you clown!

  • I just rewatched that video after 2 years or so, and still no one has found what the song is, too bad. I'm surprised Frank still haven't found the song! (It's John by the way)

  • Este bosta nasceu com as baquetas em mãos

Sei lá quantos anos deve ter no video, 27

Já tem estilo, expressão e domínio

  • The insane colors in this vid makes me think that either Virgil or me are definetly on drugs!!

  • what a beautyfull tune indeed, this guy's unique.

  • The tune is called the odyssey and was written by david hirschfelder.

  • Why doesn´t Virgil release this music on CD? It´s WAAAY to good to be a shitty backingtrack!!! Go Virg!!!

  • Donati's own style...Awesome.

  • This shit is the shit!

Very 80's but damn... it's nice as f**k.

  • damn, i wish i had discovered VD back then in 1986 !

I too was recording my drums with my own compositions. great to see this ..brings back alot of good memories

  • Fantastic. Thank you very much for posting this. Great tune and great playing.

1986, post "Changes" but pre "Loose Change". That brings back memories. I wonder if anyone ever managed to video some Loose Change gigs at the Grainstore Tavern. I'd love to see those on youtube.

  • same here, my dad showed me his loose change live at the grainstore record a few years ago and i love it. i was actually searching for some loose change videos before but theres none on youtube i think :(

  • Awesome ending kids. Hey dj fazz thank you very much! You are our new god. Give us more!

  • Wow lovely!

I wonder what the name of this song is!

Thanks again Fazz, you da man!

  • The name of this song is...'The Origin And The End'...This song was featured on Virgils first VHS/video, 'Obsessive Rhythms'.

I dont know if it's available on DVD yet...but it should be!

  • No it's not The Origin And The End. I have the Obsessive Rhythms video as well as the Modern Drummer 97 video and several bootlegs where he plays this song.

This one is different. Trust me, I know.

And neither of these songs are available on CD or DVD. Cheers.

  • Confirming this comment.

It's not "Origin And The End", I had never heard this track before this video was uploaded, and I work for Planet X! This is something rare. Great song, shame about the quality. Is it only coming out of one channel for anyone else or only me?

  • You work for Planet X? What do you do for them? Or do I already know you?:P

But yeah, only one channel here too. Great song and great playing too.

  • Yes Frank, you know who I am. ;)

  • Lol!

    Wtf, D? J? C? :P

  • HEEEEEEEELLS yes he always sounded good though those backing tracks are amazing. . . Virgil Should always write songs on all the albums he plays on!

  • Awesome!
