I remember so well as a child watching 'Channel Airways' Viscounts at Hurn start up and take off; it was a lovely sound!

I was only 5 to 7 years of age in the late 60s early 70s when I was at Victoria and Vancouver airports where I saw many Viscount aircraft where they served for Air Canada. It was the first turboprop I ever saw. I could never forget the cool sound of the RR turbine engines a sound I didnt hear again until I saw these videos on you tube.

I had the pleasure of flying in a Viscount virtually every year during my childhood and early youth. We used to fly either by BEA or more often Aer Lingus from Birmingham to Dublin and back again, in order to visit my Irish Relatives (my Mother being Irish).

I cannot begin to tell you what fond memories the sound of the RR Dart Engines evoke. It was a wonderful aircraft to fly in.

Thank you for posting this.  My Father was with Capital Airlines and I have wonderful memories of the Viscount (especially those wonderful windows and the RR SOUND)!

@dianebarqs Hi Diane! Just noticed your post, and had to say hi. My Dad was a Viscount Captain for Capital. His name was Lynn P. Griffith, and he was based in New Orleans until the merger. He stayed on the Viscount until '64, when he moved to the 727, based in New York. I loved that sound as well, though it was much more pleasant from the inside! I also loved the huge windows. We were lucky kids.

As a child i spent some time spotting at northolt in the 60s.indian af conys and italian c119s.+ other piston types.grew up and joined london country bus svs. training on rt busses.received psv and then drove many routes including 462 to Letherhead with rf and aec swift s.This video is takes me back to a lost age.Thanks .

I flew in a British Air Ferry Viscount in 1989 and on a ex-TAA Viscount Mandala Viscount from Sumatra to Jakarta in Indonesia in 1990. Both great experiences.
