During the last election I voted labour on the pretext that I was promised a vote on the constitution, but as you are all aware this promise was not fulfilled due to the name being changed to the lisbon treaty. So in this case the people s vote did not actually matter and now all the main parties have said we will not get a vote on this treaty, since it has now been ratified, so much for our vote. Europe has huge investments in US,thanks to the UK diplomatic strength (1/3 of the dollar is european)so all that would be over,since Russia would provide far greater advantages for the EU that the US.

I think it's fair to say, a huge majority of British people don't want to be part of the EU. All the European countries are unique and individual, and I respect each and every one of them. However, it's wrong that the government want to apply a "one size fits all" approach to so many different cultures.

Can someone please explain to me when the hell the EU was created? Seriously, I've seen all kinds of numbers thrown around. Was it after WWII? In the 1950s? Is it 50 years old? 25? Isn't it really only about 10 years old since there really wasn't any "European Union" until 1999?

As an Irish citizen I have the right to vote on YOUR future.
You may not be able to vote but you can make a HUGE difference. We have a small population so every vote is worth hundreds of EU ctizens.
Talk to Irish people, e-mail, forums or if you have the means come to Ireland and persuade voters. It's that important.
There are anti-Lisbon groups in every EU contry. Ask them to go to Ireland. You CAN affect change.

I'd be more than happy to play Airstrip One within a strong Anglospheric alliance.
We could then rid ourselves of the scrounging Romanians et al cluttering up our high streets, begging and thieving.
I'd love to see who'd replace us and cover the shortfall though. Kosovo? Turkey? How about Albania?
