  • and then some........

  • That was extremely powerful

  • I like the moment at 4:41 when you can hear the choir of angels.

  • @jiggity99 & @MrYuk2oh6 where did MrYuk talk about genocide being done to anyone during the colonization of North America? Not sure how his interpretation of this song was racist either. Could have said Europeans instead of White but otherwise, ....?

  • as long as the civilians were in the middle east etc...who gives a crap @theJirwch....

  • Pause @6:23

  • In my school our teacher showed us this cuz we had native americans as main subject in english but in the end he paused it and we all screamed cmon we want to see the end! After school i watched this tape again and understood why he didn't showed the end :D

  • @TheJirwch Your teacher was a moron then. From its beginning, the Iraq War was a direct violation of International Law. Dave's a pussy about it here. It's clear that he opposes it, as he should oppose it, as any decent human being should oppose it. During the mid-1980's the US backed Sadaam Hussein both militarily and economically, as he carried out his worst crimes (gassing the Kurdish minority). The Iraq War is criminal (at least 104,000 civilians dead as a result of the invasion)

  • @jiggity99 He was probably just referring to the fact that it contained strong language.

  • For anyone who doubts his talent, I present exhibit 'A'/

  • This is simply awesome!

  • So this song is about white people coming to America. Before anyone gets all sympathetic and butt-hurt, study the animal kingdom. Dog-eat-dog. It works no different with us than any other mammal. Sure we're capable of rational and compassionate thinking, but that doesn't put us above nature. White people have been extremely successful at conquering and colonizing, why u mad bro?

  • @MrYuk2oh6 How delightfully racist of you. You're actually trying to rationalize genocide using Darwinian laws of nature? Are you going to hold to the same standards if someone enslaves you or murders your family? What will you say then? It's just "dog eat dog?"

  • I used to be a big John Mayer fan and I for the most part still am, but ever since I heard DMB for the first time last month on the radio, I've been hooked.

  • @plummusic - Last month? What rock have you been hiding under? John Mayer isn't even in the same league as DMB. Keep listening, you'll see!

  • @skaordie18 Thats all i know how to play haha

  • Man I wish I could get high and play sweet ass music all day

  • @ 2:35 Dave has something written on his hand?

  • The roots of Empire run DEEP in American history, beginning with the genocide of the indigenous people who lived in harmony with this continent until the Invaders came.

  • 6:09 words that will be remembered through out the ages. Why? Dave Matthews. Nuff said.

  • Who else is going to Randalls Island tomorrow?

  • 6 people drank the water

  • Fucking badass motherfucker!!!!

  • Free replay b0:00tton

  • The look dave gives tim at 5:50

  • I never tire of this track. Acoustic live guitars master musicians and a fabulous voice. Full volume in my car travelling at night in the countryside with Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds on full volume with extra bass. Mind blowing.

  • This had this playing in the entertainment room of best buy. i sat down in the recliner, turned up the volume for the whole store to hear and watched the entire concert

  • I was there!!! I don't know what it is but I like Dave and Tim better than DMB.

  • 5:20 is probably the most epic part of this song in this performance. When Tim is building up and than with his pedal lowers it to a dark kind of sound.

the whole song is amazing though!!

  • The only part of the video that I feel repulsed is at 4:25, how the crowd cheers when Dave mentions the New York Islands. How can any sensible person cheer about that genocide? Does anyone in that crowd understand what the song is about? I know that the performance takes place at Radio City, New York, but does anyone there show any compassion about the wipe out of human beings that happened long before. They seem more like a horde of cheering artificial idiots than intelligent beings.

  • @M1179108 what do you expect them to do, sit silently and listen the whole show? theyre at a concert dont blame them for cheering

  • @1111mAc1111 It's thought provoking... sometimes silence is the proper response.

  • @M1179108 I agree with you completely!!!

  • I am going to do a metal version of this song!!

  • @wikidsledge please don't...

  • beautiful beautiful amazing phenomenal.

    dave matthews is.....well, a god.

  • In this song he makes a face where I thought we was:

    A. Going to Fight somone

    B. Strongle Someone

    C. Kill someone

    D. ROCK FUCKING HARD

  • dont get political Dave........just play those chords

  • @coolio9611

He's not being political, he's being a humanitarian. He's just saying how the division of two countries and war is stupid and make no sense. In fact, that's the total opposite of politics.

  • @coolio9611 It's way too late for that!

  • from 4:50 - 5:50 i breakdown/ cry/wanna throw things/ destroy shit because that part and how its played is so powerful it makes you want to explode if you put this song into a perspective of your own life

  • not room for both just room for me

  • martin HD-35

  • hey does anyone know what kind of guitar Dave is playing? obviously it's a Martin but I have never seen a headstock on one like that before?

  • @howbadloveyou usualy dave plays a taylor

  • @luvdahay420 He wisened up

  • At "I'll build heaven and call it home" I just shivered all over and teared right up. Wow. Magic.

  • " I love it when you say vagina" Tim 8:09

  • Tim is pretty creepy I gotta say

  • they still came weeping out of somebodies vagina.. xD

  • Wambli and Libertaer this is a music video not a political debate.Shut up and enjoy the music.

  • Orgasm at 4:40

  • Could you put up the still water intro?

  • great mattews switzerland love you

  • good voice so hypnotic..

  • Dave is a beast! Angel and Devil in one!

    The best voice ever!!!

  • i love it when you say vagina :)

  • @meskefer987 fuckin hilarious.

  • Dave <3

  • I want more dave fan friends for sure

  • @wopyomi Have you ever noticed how Dave fans sort of... attract lol? Like for instance. My friend and I saw dave in boston. We took the train in and everyone on the train were dave fans. And it was like a big happy party

  • I was at this concert and it was so exciting to hear the crowd exploding once the song really gets going! The only thing missing was Carter Beauford and the rest of the band!

  • The ending is so creepy

  • loved this version, but he has trouble remembering the words :P

  • 4:17-4:36 is one of the coolest things ive ever heard dave insert into one of his songs

  • @tjgalla96 that was amazing

  • I wonder if hes just a rambling kinda guy or if he is stoned. Im guessing stoned. God bless him..

  • Im sure that if dave saw all the comments about jews and the holocaust and banking conspiracies on this video, he'd be pretty disappointed.

Time and place guys, time and place.

    thumbs up if you agree

  • "Where today are the Pequot? Where are the Narragansett, the

Mohican, the Pokanoket, and many other once powerful tribes of our people?

They have vanished before the avarice and the oppression of the White Man,

as snow before a summer sun."

    -Tecumseh of the Shawnee

  • @blewj "We Shall Remain"

  • @ShawnyMartin It's also quoted in "Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee."

  • At 7:30, Tim's looking at Dave like "You're really high, and just rambling right now, but it'd be embarrassing for me to interrupt you, so I'll let you keep talking. But really, what are you even saying right now?" That said, Dave's one of my heroes.

  • dave speaks the words of Jesus

  • 5 people drank the water

  • Hahahaha Tim " I love it when you say vagina" hahahahaha

  • @TheTMP2 hahaha thats sooo funny

  • It's always bothered me how people cheered when he cut in with lyrics from "This Land is Your Land". Dave is trying to get a point across and the audience entirely missed it.

  • @albinoman13bt Me too!!! They just got excited that he mentioned their state.

  • I had so many chills running down my spine during this song...

  • so much more emotion than the studio verison. thats how you know if an artist is really talented, their live performances.

  • 4:45... when the crowd joins in with Dave's falcetto... magic

  • Chills....

  • part from 4:55 is so powerfull...

  • @krzychud Wicked.

  • all personal bullshit aside... this song is absolutely incredible. its amazing a man can put such meaning into a song and have it be so powerful and gentle at the same time. this is music people

  • 4:32-4:53... it's like the angels singing with him on that final note

  • im the only one out of all my friends besides a couple who gets what this song is about and when i try to explain that its about what the english did to africans they disagree and its so frustrating because they are so used to the shit on the radio these days

  • @watwatindabutt69 Are you positive it isn't about what white man did to the Indians?

  • @ontherighttrack44 no it is i was wrong sry

  • The song was based on a simpler tune played by Dave Matthews, first dubbed "Weight of the World" when played on his acoustic tour with Tim Reynolds in 1996, and later "Leave Me Praying", as the song became more structured during tours in 1997. The subject of the song is the apartheid in South Africa and the persecution of the Native Americans. Your only half right

  • @JasonKillpack ty now it makes more sence :)

  • @watwatindabutt69 How could they possibly disagree? It's obviously about colonization of some sort.

  • pure essence of beauty..anyone else agree?

  • tim is creepy haha

  • Primal whooshing across African plains.

  • Love the passion he has in this song, angry dave is a very sexy dave....LOL! This song gives me chills just to think about the story he is trying to put out there that's really how it happened, thats really how all these Native American's felt. Make you want to request this song on every station you know on Columbus Day...

  • Muito bom!!!

  • Is concert avail on dvd? I ordered the disc...but want the video!!!

  • fuck sony, if i click on another vid that say i cant listen to it cause it contains fuckin contents of sony im gonna go ape shit

  • this seriously is the best concert ive ever heard/seen in my life. I would have shit myself multiple times if I was there.

  • @KATOMATE01 this whole show makes me want to cry its that good. totally blown away.

  • guys, im thiking we shouldnt drink he water eh? whoz with me!

  • @Codguy77 what if someone...pissed in the water?

  • @wowhobbs3 There's "blood in the water" Because Millions died......Not for their country. Not for future generations. They were killed by an invader that practiced germ warfare (traded blankets from ppl with smallpox which indigenous ppl had little or no resistance to.You know..they died from it), and genocide, LONG b4 Hitler did..The buffalo were hunted nearly to extinction to starve the plains tribes. The list is VERY long.... I love the USA, my country, but Manifest Destiny was Genocide IMHO

  • @WambliPeta ooh i knew all that stuff dude. I was just jooking.

  • @WambliPeta

"and genocide, LONG b4 Hitler did." -- Yeah, except that the Hitler genocide myth has long since been disproved. In fact, it was alliances with Hitler which resulted in the freedom of colonies under oppressive British and French colonial rule. Here's a video:

"The Multicultural Soldiers of the Third Reich / National Socialism "

Also, your claim about Manifest destiny being genocide, keep in mind that warring tribes were genociding each other well before Europeans got there.

  • @LibertaerUeberAlles "Yeah, except that the Hitler genocide myth has long since been disproved." So Auschwitz II-Birkenau was a myth???????

"warring tribes were genociding each other well before Europeans got there."

Even if you could qualify that statement, it would not make what the American govt did to the indigenous ppl of this land "right".

  • @WambliPeta

Watch the Jewish historian, David Cole, explain Auschwitz to you, and then decide for yourself. See his video presentation at:

    "One Third of the Holocaust"

As for the natives, you might be right. But keep in mind that those who amplify -- and perhaps exaggerate -- the story the loudest are usually those who compete for political power w/ European Americans. Hint: It's the same ones who imbue us with the "(ethnic) Christians gassed the Jews" story known as the "holocaust."

  • @LibertaerUeberAlles If I never see your point of view, I certainly appreciate the fact that you have spoken fairly, intelligently, and politely. Thank you for that. I agree with the annotation at the end of the first vid you spoke of. History is more complex than what you learn in school.

  • @WambliPeta

Thanks kindly. Yeah, I'm not into Hitlerian authoritarianism or anything like that. It was an ideology of yesteryear; no need to revisit! But I wouldn't want to revisit FDR's authoritarianism, either. Here's a nice article about how he deceived America into war:

    "Franklin Roosevelt's 'Secret Map' speech"

If there's a lesson in this, then maybe it should be that it's the no-so-obvious tyrants who should concern us most. In this case, FDR.

  • @Starved4Truth

Capital letters? Are you mentally challenged? What about the part where the curator reveals how Soviets "reconstructed" the alleged "gas chamber" after the war, to make it look like people had actually been "gassed" in it? What about the US military's aerial photos which reveal no lines of people waiting to be "gassed"? -- and no piles of wood for cremation? -- no smoke? Maybe you should watch it again. See the Web for:

    "ONE THIRD OF THE HOLOCAUST"

See, I can use CAPs, too.

  • @LibertaerUeberAlles Wow your a fucking retard. Have fun jerking off to your stupid ass videos of how hitler didnt want war haha

    you 40 year old fuck

  • @LibertaerUeberAlles shutup...this is Dave Matthews...take you're retarded history propaganda somewhere else

  • Oh how I love Dave's rambling towards the end of his little speech. "I'm gonna fuck you up" "No I'm gonna fuck you up" *Angered Growl*. Brilliant.

  • This i abliviously about the americand taking over america and destroying all of the native people

  • @dudeman34367 Do you mean the BRITISH, the SPANISH and the FRENCH? You might be right, fuckface.

  • Can i haz a tofriken burger

  • 1:04

  • epic breakin into woody guthrie tribute haha awesome

  • Favorite DMB - so good. It's like Tofrikkin.

  • Radio City+Tim Reynolds+Dave Matthews=Fucking Awesome.

  • oh my god, this is my favourite video on youtube. insane version and power

  • 4:42 oh my god - gives me the chills EVERYTIME

  • what an amazing frick'n performance!!!!

  • 7:16 he's got a point.

  • to the 3 people that did not like this....fuck you

  • @Guitar1hero23 they must b deaf

  • @vangundy51 they have to be

  • this is not my favorite song of all time, but this is my favorite performance of ANY song of all time... if that makes any sense.

  • @hunterrtt I agree completely, he was completely stoned, but this has to be the best show of his ever.

  • @hunterrtt it doesnt lol

  • I feel like, i , just won the WORLD not only cuz , i , know Dav's MUSIC but also my, idealogy, is not alone.

  • Evil indeed. Why, with all those exploitative colonies owned by the British[banking]Empire and France. The Rothschilds and their associates had half the world's people enslaved, all the while pillaging their natural resources.

It was only due to, e.g., Chandra Bose's collaboration with Adolf and Germany, that places like India were finally freed from oppression; hence, putting an end to the "British" Empire.

  • @LibertaerUeberAlles The British Empire is alive and well, very soon to rise and rule the world once again. America is and always has been a colony.

  • @bulletinman Oh, okay.

  • @bulletinman that's possibly the dumbest thing I've ever read on the internet.

  • @irishsamurai Agreed. Dave wouldn't be impressed.

  • @irishsamurai People are so funny, aren't they?!

  • @bulletinman Lolwut

  • @LibertaerUeberAlles i have to say that even though i agree that India has been freed from "British" oppression i cant help but notice that it hasn't fully stopped. The thing is, i just saw the Gandhi movie, and on one part he says that poverty is the most cruel form of violence. That struck me as an enlightening truth, it figures coming from Gandhi himself eh? anyways, no point intended, just a little adding of perspective on the matter. i wish you all peace, truth, education, and activism.

  • When Tim uses his pedal to drop to the low D at 5:24...epic chills.
