Everyone needs forgiveness, and dredging up interviews / articles from over 20 years ago really doesn't validate your points. You should investigate a bit more before you throw around mud. Specifically relating to Mike Warnke, I was a huge fan of his back in the late 80's, and he ministered in our church around this time. So with some small (literally 10 minutes work) investigation I looked into these accusations against him. Firstly, he has since admitted he embellished the truth with regards to his testimony. Something you should probably have pointed out instead of just vilifying him. He also submitted to the spiritual authority of a board of elders / pastors.

People are encouraged to do lots of things they would never normally do in reality when the situation is in a game context. What is wrong with it though? A game is not reality and the actions performed in one don't actually effect other people in a physical or real way. That's one of the big problems with many Christians. Many of them make a fuss over fantasy things as if they were real.

Specifically relating to Mike Warnke, I was a huge fan of his back in the late 80's, and he ministered in our church around this time. So with some small (literally 10 minutes work) investigation I looked into these accusations against him. Firstly, he has since admitted he embellished the truth with regards to his testimony. Something you should probably have pointed out instead of just vilifying him. He also submitted to the spiritual authority of a board of elders / pastors.

I think this is where religion is formed. The idea of these "fabricated memories" is not true. The memories must've came from somewhere. In actuality most people should be capable of remembering every day of their life. If you don't remember large sections of your past then it's due to the fact that it was too difficult for you to handle at that time. TV and Radio warp most people's reality.

And no, the memories need not have come from anywhere except bits and pieces that the person patched together. This phenomenon has been tested time and again, proving that people are very good at fabricating memories of things that never happened.

@necessitousfox A relative of mine actually has false memory syndrome - she believes her father sexually molested her when no such thing happened, thanks to a therapist who had jumped on the repressed memory therapy bandwagon back in the day. Don't tell me it was "made up" - my entire family has to live with the consequences of false memory syndrome every day. And we're not the only ones - there are countless families that were torn apart by this damnable pseudoscience.

The claims made by this person about what others have done could very well apply to himself. I doubt he went and tracked down that football team and the members of that high school. However, he's right in that some people do seek attention and fame by fraud. But it's not true just because he or someone else says so. Well, Bill is actually right on his claim that people playing d@d are encouraged to harm and steal from each other. I know because i have actually played it and the D@D rule based role playing games such as the Baldures Gate and Never Winter series, were you can steal kill or pretty much do what ever else you want to do to the other characters in the game.

@friedfish1982 Harming or stealing in fantasy is different than harming and stealing in reality. People are encouraged to do lots of things they would never normally do in reality when the situation is in a game context. What is wrong with it though? A game is not reality and the actions performed in one don't actually effect other people in a physical or real way. That's one of the big problems with many Christians. Many of them make a fuss over fantasy things as if they were real.
