@zabylurt The pyramids have greatly decreased in size since they were built and towers are not as structurally sound so corrosion or damage could easily result in a structural failure.
@zabylurt Climate. Desert climate is helpful for preserving anything in stone. It's only wind erosion that wears it down.Very little if any rain, no snow, Buildings reinforced with steel, has timber parts in it, or even mortar joins in a wet climate would decay and fall over within 20-100 years because Mother Nature has her wrecking ball made of water and greenery
6 times the wolf population a year after humans are dead?! I can see this happening: Your great, great, great grandkids are gonna be one of the only few humans alive on earth. They will be trapped on the roof of a building with wolfs outside stacked upon each other. And ALL of them are humping to make more...
I've seen village in Bosnia abandoned only 15 years ago, you can barely notice that people have ever lived there. Most houses are reduced to piles of bricks, high grass and young trees are growing everywhere. From the distance of 500 or so meters only thing you can see is green forest. Power of nature and wild life are really incredible.
@sciencealwayswins - no if it was a disease that affect only humans. Maybe our rotting corpses would be pathogenic, but they wouldn't last long anyways. Here you go, no mass extinction necessarily.
Probably going to happen, maybe some "terroritsts" that will do a inside job to shut down every power source. The humans will extinct themselves with some help after that :)
how arrogant. to beleive all the dependancy on humans, to beleive that rotting and termites is an attack. its not war. its regeneration. this entire series is full of these sort of phrases. if demonstrated as regeneration instead of form of attack, we could learn something. all im learning is the arrogant viewpoint the makers of the film had. particularily the narrator and his script writer. its good to see regeneration is possible. but its not an attack. not everything is at war with humans.
Yeah I'm finding it amusing that they are dramatising it for effect and ratings. I'm wondering how all the planet's humans become extinct but not the animals, at least the mammals? But this is not mentioned. I can understand a large percentage of the human population being wiped out due to a pandemic disease, huge change in climate or lack of fossil fuels, but not in extinction. Too many holes in the doco's theory, but I guess its catering to the lowest common denominator.
@Monad01 - An the "lowest common denominator" happens to watch documentary channels like NG or Discovery on a regular basis? No... I guess they would be more entertained with sitcoms and reality shows.
The 'lowest common denominator' watching NG or Discovery then. Though whether sitcoms, reality shows, or Life after People, programmes will gain more viewers if it is infused with a bit of drama to make things more exciting.

A catastrophe that was drastic enough to kill off all humans would likely cause many of the species referenced in the film to go extinct as well.
