  • OUTSTANDING leaders and these MEN should serve as true role models for black Americans today. Unfortunately, they do not. You cannot free a slave who loves his chains.

  • Wow

  • @MrJournalism101 r u saying blacks cant handle college? whites gotta do it to.. its not whites dont have to go to college and blacks do.. shut the hell up u ignorant tool..

  • What gets me is how they wanted to fight so bad for their country, But yet it was for a country that hated them! You guys are truly real hero's ..Canada.

  • 6 people had their wives leave them for black guys!

  • @dkparamore1 LMAFO!!!

  • What's not to like about this video??? True story, American heroes all of them!!! I salute them all on MLK day!

  • these guys were the best of the best for the United States Army Air Corps they took alot of shit from the ignorant white people but they pushed on and fought harder and made alot of racist bomber pilots become nonracist and they were the best bomber escort fighters never loosing a bomber to enemy fighters or antiaircraft fire these men where the ones to show that those racist assholes that just because they are darker skin doesnt mean that they couldnt fight

  • @MrJournalism101 Im not in any way racist, but to be an officer in the military you need to get to college. I think they say you need to be in college is not because of racism but to make sure that the smartest people are flying the planes and commanding the troops. But, there is still (unfortunately) a lot of racism in the world and i hope one day humans can move pass that.

  • @504Resident

are you saying that all of the white fighter pilots of ww2 went to college?

  • @jigga1215 No. I'm sure there were alot of pilots that didnt attend college, but i can understand why college is mandatory for officers.

  • @jigga1215 No. What people do not know is that during WWII, the Army Air Corp begin using Technical Flying Sergeants, enlisted soldiers who were sent to flight school. These were used to ferry airplanes from the U.S. to England and they did not see any combat. Additionally, most of these pilots were females.

  • @MrJournalism101 Whats even more sad is you think so little of blacks. While you may think that they are uneducated you are sadly mistaken. Many of them work hard to overcome the leftest barriers set up against them. Now that slavery and segregation is over you find a new tactic by saying they are too uneducated. Racism will never die if people like you use racial profiling to insult their intellect and class. Shame on you.

  • Respect to these boys!

In addition, I just love the fattie at 2:47 :)

  • an experiment to prove to white america that this could not be done. but we will try to teach these blacks to do something complex. i gues the experiment was a failure. cause they were the best of the best and prove it to the world..

  • @peterwo2e they actually were not the best of the best.. actually their kill/loss ratio is pretty weak..

  • They were discriminated by their own country because of their looks and skin color, but still they fought for their country (USA).

    Respect!

  • I don't believe a WORD of this crap. Hell, we hardly have black fighter pilots NOW

  • @lutherheggs I'm white (Russian) and we hear stories on how America claims freedom for all but fight a hatred for over 34% of its populations of Hispanics Blacks Middle Easterns And Jews. Haha you're proof we're right.

  • @MrIhatespork

I heard there was a lot of hatred towards blacks in Russia, but you give me a reason to not believe that. Much respect.

  • @lutherheggs not too many people are so eager as you, to display their IGNORANCE for all to see.

  • @lutherheggs you say we hardly have any black pilots now. So you do admit that there are some black pilots. At the time before the great men there were none. So having some now now is still progress.

  • Most of the best pilots were half cast.Thats the best part of two!You may be singing the praises of black americans...well I wouldn`t know any. I live in U.K. and all the black british I have met , bar one ( he`s my friend ) are lazy benifit claiming and work shy.Hell I wouldn`t type cast anyone , well if they didn`t follow the script

  • Because of these great men, Blacks can now be pilots in the United States AirForce. I just want to say ThankYou.

  • Even to a Southern white kid like me, these guys were an inspiration...God Bless 'em

  • @MrJournalism101 - 1). That is the most ridiculous pap. You should do well as a journalist. You've got the liberal-tinged victimization disease. There are no rules to keep anyone down. If you expect the lowest common denominator, that's what you'll get. Many of the Tuskegee Airmen actually had degrees. They were engineers, aeronautical engineers, etc. Everything you need is not taught in fighter school. My family has three generations of military pilots: Korea, Vietnam, and the current theaters

  • 2). Iraq and Afghanistan. It's the same old tired song that many of us hear. You have to earn it. If you don't qualify, you don't make it. That's why the US military is the best in the world. If it were easy, everyone would fly. Your comment suggests a losing attitude. I didn't require that the tests for me be less nerve wracking than the next guy because of race. No way. I am from the upbringing and mindset that says yes, I may be a minority as far as population goes, but that has no effect

  • 3). on my capability and work ethic. It means there are less people of a particular racial group. It has no bearing, nor does it reveal my IQ. Again, if you are not qualified, that's your problem. Perhaps you should have paid attention, or studied hard. When it's time to compete, I don't care what color your skin is. I am going to make sure that your score will be second to mine.

Go cry in your koolaide to someone who can relate. How dare you soil the significance of these great men...

  • God bless these men. i am just too proud of them

  • Thanks for this posting. As a small boy I listened, enthralled, as my dad (British 8th Army)and my uncle Cleeve(RAF, spitfire pilot) spoke admiringly about these superb warriors. Dad and uncle Cleeve were horrified at how the Tuskegee pilots were treated by the US govt.

  • FUCK Racism!

  • LMAO!!! WELL SAID!!!!

  • Well actually blacks nowadays do get credit.

    but you're right though.

  • Are you related to mR Decatur?I know he has family in Cleveland ohio. I think I played with his grandson Ron.

  • history of my black people mah man...

  • These men saved untold numbers of lives with their service and flying skill. They are ALL heros.

  • hurrah to sir benjamin davis jr...i think you dont know him with respect to tuskegee airmen

  • wow, gotta love the commentator of this video. Good video

  • Because these men fought not only the Nazi's, but racism in their own country

  • @Historystartsnow And plus, they haven't lost one bomber on any escort missions that they've flown. No other squadron could match that record. And it still stands.

  • @ToddRodd Very true. And the epitome of irony....to have to FIGHT, in order to be able to serve, and possibly die for your country...these men are true American heroes.

P.S. I was born a bit too late...would have loved to have flown one of those P-51's

  • @ToddRodd actually this is completely false propoganda.. they lost 25. And their actual combat record is fairly weak.. not to mention they fought late in the war against mostly inexperienced, poorly trained german pilots.

  • @hooseyadaddy Nope. The excellent loss record is accurate. And them first entering in the war at 1942 would hardly be considered late. Don't believe everything that you read on wikipedia.

  • @ToddRodd usatoday.com/news/nation/2007-04-01-tuskegee-airmen_N.htm

  • @TheClampounder That USA Today article is very funny. "APRIL FOOL!" - (check the date)

  • @hooseyadaddy source please...

  • @andreo for which fact?.. but just try here.. google "usa today tuskegee airmen lost bombers" next time try a little research on your own..

  • @VillageIdiot8055 why do you care? Does discrimination AGAINST minorities bother you? Didn't think so. Shut the fuck up.

  • @VillageIdiot8055

I understand what your saying you have a valid point.

BUT people want them to be recognized for their bravery and how it was a massive step for them. Which is fair enough.

  • • Over 15,000 combat sorties

    • 111 German airplanes destroyed in the air

    • 150 German aircraft destroyed on the ground

    • 950 railcars, trucks, and other motor vehicles

    • 1 destroyer sunk by P-47

    • Sixty-six pilots killed in action or accidents

    • Thirty-two pilots downed and captured

    • NO BOMBERS were ever lost to Enemy Aircraft while being escorted

NOT 1 PAGE IN THE HISTORY BOOK

  • @WWIIAustrailianTroop And let us not forget the 92nd Infantry Division and the 761st Tank Battalion, whose members were being beaten and murdered by southerners in the very towns that were training them to go to war.

  • its a shame less than 600 have seen this video

  • • 150 Distinguished Flying Crosses earned

    • 744 Air Medals

    • 8 Purple Hearts

    • 14 Bronze Stars

  • thank you so much for all that you boys went through.

The combat record of the Tuskegee Airmen

    • Over 15,000 combat sorties

    • 111 German airplanes destroyed in the air

    • 150 German aircraft destroyed on the ground

    • 950 railcars, trucks, and other motor vehicles

    • Thirty-two pilots downed and captured

    • NO BOMBERS were ever lost to Enemy Aircraft while being escorted

  • To any Tuskegee Airmen reading this, whether a pilot or in a supporting role, a sincere thank you for your service. And a sincere apology you had to put up with all that bullshit. You are among the greatest of all Americans!

Great video. I love this sort of history.

  • The first minutes could be a opening to a disney fim... other wise a good doc

  • Thanks. I know the beginning's a little flimsy but I think it's good.
