  • sometimes i think that batman is pretending his death because he believes that nightwing is ready to became the new batman.

  • I loved your review and I loved R.I.P.

What I did not like is that the end seems rushed. What happenned? Was this the original ending Morrison had planned?

    I doubt it.

  • Not sure if he had to alter any of his plot plans. DC seemed to be giving him free reign and it basically sounded like they have complete trust in him. He'll be one of the Guests at NYCC so if I hear anything I'll let you know.

  • All the hints and clues Morrison had on his run were not answered at the end of R.I.P.

    What´s that on Batmite´s back?

    What happenned to Honor Jackson?

Why bring Ra´s back during all this?

Maybe, just maybe, Grant´s has had all of us suffering from apophenia like the Joker said in the last installement of R.I.P.

  • Considering how Bruce Wayne's in Final Crisis and that takes place after RIP. still, all in all, I didn't think RIP wasn't that bad of a read. Not as good as Morrison is capable of, but it's still not too bad. Beats anything Chris Claremont's been doing for the past 10 years.

  • Do you have a review for Joker by Brian Azzerello.

  • Not a separate one but I highly recommend it! I believe hellointernet (aka Marvel Sucker) has one.

  • What about Two-face.

  • Still alive. Still miserable.

  • That sounds like him.

  • Is Joker alive at the end.

  • Yep. People are more attached to Joker than Batman; plus, not actually knowing the Joker's real identity means they could kill him off repeatedly and we'd never know.

  • I thought his name was Jack Napier.

  • In da 89 movie.

  • joker story is a mystery !!

  • Have seen your reviews Amber, and enjoy them. My take on the Zurr-en-arrh thing is a bit different. Not a "new orgin", but rather explaing that the "old story" never really happened anywhere but in Batman's imagination. (Like Bat-Mite) That one can take all those kind of odd-ball 1950's and 1960's stories, and attirbute them to Bruce's owm mind defense mechanisms, as opossed to saying "They were in a parelell universe" or soemthing. Hope that makes some kind of sense :)

  • Hi Amber whats next for batman? I thought Tim became the dark knight? also why was Bruce wearing a multicolored batsuit in 680? thanks!

  • The multicolored suit is Batman of Zur-en-Argh which is a new origin of that character. Originally it was from when Batman visited a planet by the name Zur-en-Argh but Morrision came up with a creative new reason for it. It's Batman w/o any of Bruce's personality; no reason to hide in the dark black suit anymore. He doesn't wear it long. Dick will prob be Batman for a while until Bruce comes back from his current mental torture.

  • OK thanks I ordered the hardcover last week will be here mid february. Only natural that dick be batman like when Knightfall ended. Dick is like I son I guess, Tim was adopted right? so in effect hes Bruce's son too right? what about Jason? whats he up to? and does Bruce have 3 sons, lol a laugh...or just dick and tim or just time legally? thanks!!!

  • I'm not sure about their legal status. Historically Dick was always considered legally adopted; not sure about the others. Last time I saw Jason Todd he was Red Robin but I don't know if it was the real Jason. Sometimes it's just hard to follow when you don't read a title regularly. I only picked up Robin & Nightwing as crossovers.

  • Im pretty sure it was Talia's Jason clone

  • good review. I have to say I've liked the rip storyline, it's a typical morrison headfuck, he's been my hero since I was 11, sad to say it seems that he ain't gonna be on batman after the next issue, way to drop the ball as usual DC

  • Morrison will actually be coming back to Batman. He's just taking a break - or so they say for now.

  • hmmm I have my doubts Amber, although Rich Johnston did say he was going to work on a new Batman series with Frank Quitely, which would be fantastic, still at least he's got me interested in batman comics again

  • Great review....I'm glad you were able to finish this thing and get out alive.

  • Thanks for the review. Helped me alot.

  • they should just relaunch everything go back to year 1(modernize everything, redo past mistakes, etc.), can someone tell me why this is a bad idea? i know this: i would start reading comic books again

  • lol! "Batman's fist is stronger than a frozen chicken."

Your second review got cut-off at the end.

  • Sorry about the bad editing. I recommend the new Joker hardcover by Brian Azzarello. It's about a misguided thug that thinks it would be wonderful to be Joker's lieutenant until he learns why people are afraid of the Joker. Batman is in it a very little bit. Harley looks amazing and has a lot of presence but doesn't speak.

  • Already got it. Another Othrworlds novel, but still, it's Mistah J ^_^

  • Batman/Bruce Wayne is NOT dead.

Know this for a fact because DC's Executive Editor, Dan DiDio taled of the issue to the New York Daily News after BATMAN #681 came out:

Hes not dead, though hell definitely be gone for a while, DiDio said. Batman and Bruce Wayne have been around long before me and theyll be around long after me.

I Can't wait to read "the Battle of the Cowl" just to see the look of the bat-family's faces when they find out that Bruce Wayne isn't dead!!!

  • About the fate of Jezebel, it was a bit confusing. My interpretation was that there were more than just bats, maybe man-bats, maybe just the guilt or punishment that will follow Jezebel forever.

My approach to RIP is that there's a lot between lines, there's too much behind an image. That's why when I read RIP sometimes I like it, other, I'm lost. In any case, Morrison gave something different, and that's the value of RIP (for me).

  • "Batman's punch is obviously stronger than a frozen chicken."

This sentence will be stuck in my head all week.

    Great review!

  • You seem to really hate this , Your voice and stuff just seems to scream disappointment.

  • I just don't like things that aren't linear. Harry Potter was the same for me; very convoluted though the overall stories are wonderful. I really hated the hype about the Death of Batman from DC at all the cons and the advertising campaign. It was just too much (the exact opposite of Captain America's death).

  • excellant review. who do you think is going to pick up the mantle of the Batman now?

  • If Batman feels the need to recover from injuries then Nightwing is the most likely candidate but I wouldn't be surprised if the duties were shared with Robin.

  • Once again a good review. Great work.

  • :( You got cut off there at 4:56. Anyway, I love that Joker book too. So great.

  • Oh darnit! Thanks. Santa will be bringing me a proper webcam so I can't wait!
