  • This song is amazing

  • how could you not get into this song, it just flows so niceeeee

  • Pretty sure I thought this and 'Thanks, Smokey!' was the same thing for a while; or at least one was a video response to the other. For those of you who don't know what 'Thanks, Smokey!' is, youtube it!

  • this is awesome

  • Its refreshing music.very nice.

  • I think the video is just as dreamy as the song...

    inspiring fairytale visuals...

    gives me waves of excitement....

    creative urges emerge....

  • @honestblizard I think it sucks

  • @MultiContrarian

Cool... we all have our perspectives and opinions... yours doesn't affect mine.

    Cheers!

  • good work

  • why does this song sound so different from their other material?

  • such a simple video...why am I so incredibly mesmerised by it?

  • This is a great song. They are amazing singers. I love that chorus melody.

  • isn't life under the sun just a crazy dream?

isn't life just a mirage of the world before the world?

why am i here and not over there?

    where did time begin

    where does space end

where do you and i begin?

  • why no load

  • LOL MUSIC RAGE. PITCHFORK ME BRAH.

  • This video is laughably pretentious

  • @MultiContrarian i dont get how? and who the fuck cares ?

  • @MultiContrarian

May I ask what makes it pretentious? I mean, laughable definitely, but what makes it pretentious? I think that term is used way too much in places in doesn't belong. Hell, sometimes I think people use it without even know what it means. So tell, what makes it pretentious.

  • @booshmaster82o You're right, it's one of those terms like ironic that is starting to lose meaning with its abundant use. I wonder what is not pretentious in their mind, does it need to be a generic video at a club with hoes dancing in order to not be 'pretentious'?

I can see where the song or video might be 'laughable' as well, even though I kind of like it. But yer

  • When I first heard this song on the radio, I thought it was middle eastern people singing.

  • Very unique and very good

  • this music rocks

  • eh, being some dumb fucking hipster dickwad doesn't make up for being ugly.

  • @Tripo1iSamson Somebody's jealous. . .

  • @ooliviaboliviaa Saying "somebody's x or y" when responding directly to my comment is stupid. Trust me, "somebody" isn't jealous, and would just like you for to you to jump out in front of traffic and "die."

  • @Tripo1iSamson somebody's x or y

  • @skeezerzz yeah, you're passive aggressive or gay.

  • @skeezerzz oh, and explain how someone can be "jealous" when they clearly state this video sucks? What can somebody be jealous of, some crappy hipster ugly chick? Crappy scenery? A horrible banshee noise that's supposed to be music?

  • @Tripo1iSamson you are so easily trolled. you should be ashamed of yourself.

  • @skeezerzz lololol, some fan of this hipster crap music claims I've been 'easily trolled.' Yeah, I guess I should be ashamed that someone like you, who apparently attempts to "troll" people, both uses teenage slang and likes this excuse for a band. Yeah, you've really stumped me there.

  • @Tripo1iSamson see what i mean? easily trolled. and when did i mention i liked this band?

  • @skeezerzz Eh, I think only you "see" whatever it is you "mean." I remember how shortly ago the term "trolling" starting being thrown around, and like so many lame things it started within the online community by some young computer addicts. From what I've read about trolling, it's only accomplished when someone is worked up or "butthurt" because of some resulting deliberately "well-placed" comment that sets against some "victim's" stance/belief/retardation. Basically all you

  • @skeezerz did was make an effeminate comment (passive aggression is more prevalent among females) and as soon as I retorted you're exclaiming "mwaaahahahahha i am a genius among men i hath trolled thee! worship me! my mind holds magic! i am the troll master!!!1!!111!!" You've basically discovered the internet form of saying "fuck you" to a stranger and then saying "oh, I was just getting a rise out of you, pal!" right before you'd get hit. Only with today's technology you

  • have the option to ignore having your braces and on unusually short leg from when your mom smoked meth when she was pregnant with you, and I understand that. Congrats, skeeze. You trolled me. You said something effeminate and bitchy and got responded to. But you knew all along I'd respond, mwa ha ha! You are a genius not to be tangled with, my friend. I love you. You are always at least one step ahead of me (on any website on any computer where you can respond to a comment of mine

  • with something of a passive-aggressive, pussy-like nature). Here's something I bet you can predict. You're not actually going to respond to a single statement I said, but rather you will just reply because you feel the need to have last word, regardless of what the context of your reply is like. Don't worry, I understand. I know a lot of people like you. You're a little bit stupid, but just stupid enough to not know that you're stupid. So you have to be handled gently, or else

  • you'll internalize any argument/confrontation/fight-or-flight response of yours by simply reinforcing yourself openly. Do you realize that saying "hahaha I trolled you you're easy I got you" as your second or third response to something you started isn't clever, and is more likely a sign of someone who resorts to self-reinforcement to help themselves out by trying to comfort their egos in any given situation? You are the quickest to roll back onto your most primitive survival

  • social tool, like many people everywhere, so you're not surprising. So let's end this. You did good skeezer, you trolled me. You won, man, and you're awesome. People will scroll down this page in awe of your statements. They will see that I have been trolled and they'll all know I'm really upset and whatnot. You are a god of sorts, my friend. Mmmmmmmmm. I just wish I could huge you. So okay buddy, I leave last word to you, I don't wanna get trolled again huzzzzah!

  • @skeezerzz hug*, not huge

  • @Tripo1iSamson oh wow. this is almost laughable. look at you go! go you. of course, like you "predicted", im not going to honestly respond to your retorts. if retorts is what you wanna call them, since there was nothing to retort about. unlike you, i have no wish to have a meaningless argument with a stranger online. i hope you got out all your anger through this. this seems like a therapeutic thing you do to release stress and anger that you bottle up away from the computer. so you go girl!

  • I love how all they're titties a re hard the entire vid

  • So...nobody's gonna say anything about the dude spinning in circles?

  • @devonkeyes sufi whirling.

  • i like this song.... im not sure why

  • lol hipster shit

  • @shiretsu anime freak, general hater

  • rebecca black would own it with this kind of PROduction. ;)

  • *skip* *skip* ooh nipples! *skip* done

  • DId I just watch a commercial for American Apparel?

  • Comment removed

  • Idc if people are sick of this song; it's my jam, and they need to release a new record.

  • It's so cool that they are friends with Vampire Weekend, the NYC indie kids that it's cool to love.

  • I want their clothes! theyre so high fashion!

  • I love they're singing, and I really don't know what it is about them, but they're all extrememly beautiful in some way.

  • They're ugly as fuck, but boy they can sing

  • i think one of the dancers got a boner @ 2:01

  • LLAMA"S! :D

  • 1:03 "goodness me, what is the source of this exceptionally ill tune and melodic voice that massage my ears?"

  • Oh my god - I am so getting a llama!

  • Asian American musicians are cool - Serj Tankian, Angel Deradoorian, Rostam Batmanglij...

  • @Eoinposse you mean Armenian Americans?

  • @ryannorris1 Rostam is half Iranian.

  • @Eoinposse but Armenia can be considered Europe like Turkey and Georgia are

  • Her vocal abilities suit this song better than Solange's.

  • Llamas are so hipster...

  • i have a huge crush on the girl that is singing

  • Dirty Projectors girls should break off and start their own RnB group!!

  • @hannahhurrle Totally!

  • @hannahhurrle NO!

  • 709 people have boring minds that stick to conventional things and are less adventurous and chooses to stay on the safe side cus they don't have the guts to experiment for the fear of being not smart enough to deal with what may come after.

  • @HateHarold

I think some people just don't get down with super poppy music. I mean, I'm sure that some of the people who disliked this song love Rihanna or Eminem or whoever, but I don't. When you talk about experimenting, I would say the people who are listening to this kind of music are actually the ones playing it safe. Not to knock the band (even though I did previously say that they sucked and are gay).

  • Fuck everyone below me...this song is crack

  • Comment removed

  • How can you not like this song?

  • walnuts2: Quite frankly, I think your comment is so stupid, that I first thought it was a joke. All I was doing in my comments was to voice my honest belief and that is, that Amber Coffman is the only true talent in this band. You are absolutely intitled to buy there music and go to there concerts, if you want to. But don't get personally with me, dickhead!

  • Try to watch Dirty Projectors on A Take Away Show in Paris. 11 minutes long video, where Longstedt shows to the world, what a crap singer he is. All the spectators and his own bandmembers actually clinges and moves back from him, that is how bad it sounds. With a brigth talent in the group as Amber Coffman, he should never sing. She sholud be the front figure and he should make damn sure, that she has good lyrics to work with. If he had half a sense...

  • @heineholgerb you do realise all you ve done is show everyone how desperate you are for attention as the last three post over 12 hours has been you begging desperately for a reply , just thought i would be a good guy and put you out of your misery

    p.s

i like how your so stupid and arrogant you can't see the difference between something being crap and you personally not liking it.

  • @waltnuts2 If I could draw your attention to something here; your opinion of what is "crap" is just as subjective as that of the person you're conversing with. Personal likes and dislikes, both just more beliefs that require emotional investment, however small, to even exist. The fact of the matter is that you both disagree, you both have difference beliefs as to what is crap and what is not so why not leave it at that?

  • I have to add, I think there is a reason, why the words of the song and the story of the video is hard to comprehend; it is utterly pointless. As is this band, Dirty Projectors, and especially the senseless bandleader, Dave Longstreth. Listen to Rusko's "Hold On" feat. Amber Coffman. On this song she pronounce all the words. She definately should get better material and musicians behind her and she would take it somewhere, seriously

  • I first heard this song on jango.com and a new brigth star has arrived; Amber Coffman. She has a voice like a angel, but still very expressive. This girl really can go somewhere. But, please some one. Tell her to move on from The Dirty Projectors. The rest is just holding her back, even when this particullar song works fine. Especially horrifying is Dave Longstreth. That man has absolutely no sense; he should never ever open his mouth to sing

  • The worst DP song

  • Solange brought me here :) Loved her cover and the original is hot too.

  • wow. i love it.

  • Although I dont understand the whole running with dogs on leashes thing but then again i dont understand half the stuff the singer says nor why the guitarist is spinning in circles....I like it

  • Lovely song, the video's cute, too. <3

  • That guy with the pet rare llama's overcoat is the best thing

  • at 3:16 thats probably the most majestic looking Ilama ive ever seen

  • I started dancing to this song so hard that I fell off my llama.

  • Does anyone else see similarities between this song and "der Himmel über Berlin," directed by Wim Wenders?

Check out the "Song of Childhood."

  • all this talk as though the video is the only thing that sucks...

do any of you have ears? not 'dope', like one person said. dont use that word so freely.

i can only imagine a live performance... eeesh.

just one mans opinion. its the accurate one though.

  • @phriesen look the word dope can and should be used as freely was anyone would like. usually i dont liike this hipster shit. everything usually depends on what type of music you are into. i prefer hip-hop for ex., and i appreciate the beat behind this song...these white chicks are pretty ridiculous but if you listen carefully- esp. towards the end there is somewhat of a hip hop feel/sound to it and maybe that's why solange knowles does a re make to this song with a dr. dre beat in the back.

  • @stillnotlovinnpolice i absolutely agree.. it does have a hiphop sound. i just think this is fake.. the lyrics, and the attempt to sing passionately.. thats why i disagree with the person. who calls this dope.. nothing to do with the context of the word.

i swear, people are listening to this music for relevancy sake.

"lets toast to the beautiful people

the ones that made you afraid to be you

the ones that trained you to hate your shell

the ones that sold you your favorite self"

    -slug

  • @phriesen yeah no problem and now i completely agree with you! im over this song! haha

  • @phriesen The attempt to sing passionately? She's obviously passionate about it... maybe not in this video where she looks bored while lip-synching but when performing live she gives it her all. And how exactly are the lyrics "fake"? Do you think it's impossible for her (or whoever in the band wrote the song) to have ever been or currently be in a relationship where these words seemed valid?

  • Comment removed

  • @phriesen And I honestly don't care whether a musician is "fake" or not. At least not in the sense of where they draw their inspiration from. If it turned out that this band was all over-dubbed or something then I'd be bugged... but as long as it's them making the music... I don't care how "real" it is as long as it sounds good.

  • and lets be real, you're opinion doesn matter anymore than mine does and yes, it is just YOUR opinion. my opinion is i can see how people wouldnt like this song, esp with the fucking music video.

  • @stillnotlovinnpolice thanks for being actually nice about your disagreement with what i said..

    respectable!

  • I'm not gonna lie, the llama makes the video.

  • @kelpyandhorny word.

  • I see nipples

  • omg this is the worst ive come too...LMFAO

  • oh gawd...they added choreography! i hate when they try n make these lil white girls dance...it just ruins the vibe of every damn thing!

  • WTF !!!!

  • llama llama llama

  • yeah this song is dope but this video is too funny (and not in a good way). it seems like an add for urban outfitters or "anthropology." the wolves slightly save the video until the white girls start dancing in their matching ensembles.

  • What is it with hipsters and fuckin' WOLVES???? LOL

  • @evelsteev dude i was thinking the same thing!!!!!!!!! but i love the wolves they are amazingly beautiful. but this video just turns these poor wolves into hipster wolves! goddammitt

  • @stillnotlovinnpolice so true. so true. Aaaaaarrrrroooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

  • cats might've done the choreographed dance a bit better..

  • so jammie!

  • guys looked great tho!

  • i live in queens and love u girls and this song, BUT THIS VIDEO! come on!

  • @ceaultman is it because there are no cats in it?

  • @coltworkorange cats might've done the choreographed dance a bit better..

  • @ceaultman i totally fucking agree

  • This song arouses me..

  • DOPEE

  • White widescreen bars.

    NOW THATS INDIE.

  • belas imagens

  • no wonder solange picked this song its really cool and i love the lyrics

  • where is the next oncert?

  • I heard them on the radio this morning and was so intrigued by their sound I waited all day to come home and look them up. So glad I did! I just became a fan! :D

  • Great Llama

  • shit they're fucking ace. mindfuck

  • Kinda weird...but, I love her voice.

  • how about we stop asking for a thumbs up........

  • @Thexxweekend I'll give you a thumbs up for that. Thumbs up buddy! THUMBS UP!!

  • @bafmd ive never laughed so hard at a youtube comment

  • @BoneDog1215 :D

  • thumbs up if Michelle Shaprow brought you here!

  • thumbs up if SA Martinez sent you here!!

  • i'm sure i'm the first person to ever notice this in two years, but 3:55 WATCH YOUR STEP LOLOLOL

  • gay

  • hipsters......

  • @JerNewton93 I second that

  • the dance part is so cute

  • the vid is a lil ughh but there voices are so sweet

  • The video was sort of dumb, but the music is fantastic. I can't believe people feel entitled to bash it just because it doesn't click on the first listen. Sure, some experimental music is pretentious, but this is pure art.

  • Beautiful

  • pitchfork sucks ~ but this is pretty cool.

  • could have done better make up

  • I love pitchfork

  • yep - greatestvideoofalltime

  • I especially love the strings at the end.

  • SO cool!!!!

  • This is one of my favourite songs of all time.

  • mother fucker there is no top comments

  • This video and song are what happen when you try too hard to be cool. Be careful kids...

  • @MultiContrarian I'm not saying that I love this band but I appreciate and respect the high level of art that they are producing. I would think that in their early days the Talking Heads got the exact same kinds of criticism. Not all music speaks to everyone, and this genre isn't my cup of tea. But it's very well done, and damn that girl can sing, at least acknowledge that. Anyway, videos are odd. This one isn't all that strange compared to say "Money for Nothing".

  • @JEdgarGroover well, art is obviously appreciated very subjectively. I don't see this as 'art' myself. What I see is a piece that is certainly attempting to be art, but the effort is so strained and put on, in my opinion, that it's artistic merit is completely lost, and has become almost laughable. I will grant you that she has a good voice.

  • @JEdgarGroover Don't knock Avey's main squeeze, now.

But I don't like it very much, either. OH NO! Now I've done it, too.

  • Can we please stop the hate for a moment - again please. These women own beautiful voices. And I think the video echoes their beauty - this part of Vermont owns an enchanting, magical feel. And the beauty of the women echoes something equally beautiful, 'the goddess' if you will. Lastly - let me qualify this by stating that I'm Black. These women can dance. White women can dance. Stop the hate. I a new Dirty Projectors fan, no doubt.

  • i didnt like this song the first time i heard it, but its definitely grown on me.

  • julian's favourite band

  • well this is hipster-mainstream and nobody gives a fuck how pretty she is, at least try to keep it about the music. I personally didn't like it much but some of these comments are ridiculous...

  • for reals, i've seen elementary school plays with better lyrics. thanks

  • Llamas^^ <3

  • She is beautiful i loved her solo it was beautiful at the end. Her singing voice is awesome its better than any of you HATERS so WIN. She is beautiful even when she is not wearing any makeup i hope my girlfriend looks like that someday, and they also have mad SWAG in the video there not off beat there dancing is on point and the video is creative. These 3 deserve all the credit in the world for making such a lovely song. Also please listen too 3:20 and on you haters if that's not amazing well...

  • this is a fantastic song.. and a terrible video.. white girls dancing is sometimes too awkward to watch.

  • this is a fantastic song.. and a terrible video..

  • @matlockt92 I definitely agree

  • llamas arent that rare, there's like a whole farm of em down the street from me and i love in oklahoma

  • this singing is fucking horrid

  • this video's so awkward. but awesome. it was on my ipod for like a year before i realized she was in fact speaking english

  • hipsters, the dead end of western civilization. I like the riff though. It's funny how campy this is though already after only two years. The hipster backlash is definitely in full swing.

  • Has anyone noticed the llama makes a run for it at the end??

  • 3:29-3:37 it gives me shivers

  • the world's most awkward dancer
